  • Most design changes are due to interferences and fit-up as parts are assembled if such a large product as an automobile or an aircraft is developed by many concurrent engineers. In this part (1) of the thesis, the assembly-centric modeling methodology with CAD systems is proposed in order to reduce the design changes. Unlike part-centric modeling method, a part is modeled with its own coordinate system which is used in downstream process as machining and measuring. The part coordinates initially have the same orientation as its assembly which is predefined in BOM (Bill of Material). Then, the corrdinates origin of the part is moved to its location to be assembled from that of its assembly coordinate system. To implement this methodology, the position data of the part w.r.t. its assembly are stored in a database to build the same hierarchical assembling structure as BOM structure. This modeling approach has the advantage of reflecting asembling sequence, because the process of positioning parts is similar to that of real assembling. And with the method, a designer can easily adjust all of the part positions of an assembly to resolve interferences if he modifies just the coordinates origin of the assembly, which results in moving included parts and assemblies together.

  • Recently, the usage of containers in marine transportation is rapidly increasing. The problem of ship stability is important because of its direct influence to the loss of the human-life, ship, and merchandise. However, the assessment for ship stability during container loading/unloading in port is dependent on human experience only. On the other hand, the emerging information and communication technologies of shipbuilding industrial environments are rapidly changing. To respond to the situation, a new paradigm has been matured with new concepts such as the concrete method. Especially, all the efforts are shown to be concentrated to realize the concept of Simulation Based Design(SBD) based on three dimensional Computer Aided Design(CAD) model. In this paper, ship model-based simulation methodology for design and operation of ship is suggested, and for the verification of suggested methodology, the system for stability assessment of ship during container loading/unloading was developed using ENVISION, a general-purpose simulation system. The developed system consists of geometric modeling subsystem, basic calculation subsystem, and Computer Aided Engineering(CAE) subsystem. In addition, interface to CAE/CAD /simulation system such as SIKOB and ENVISION is provided.

An LMI-based Stable Fuzzy Control System Design with Pole-Placement Constraints

  • This paper proposes a systematic designs methodology for the Takagi-Sugeno (TS) model based fuzzy control systems with guaranteed stability and pre-specified transient performance for the application to a nonlinear magnetic bearing system. More significantly, in the proposed methodology , the control design problems which considers both stability and desired transient performance are reduced to the standard LMI problems . Therefore, solving these LMI constraints directly (not trial and error) leads to a fuzzy state-feedback controller such that the resulting fuzzy control system meets above two objectives. Simulation and experimentation results show that the proposed LMI-based design methodology yields only the maximized stability boundary but also the desired transient responses.

BIM 기반 철골부재 단면설계를 위한 IDM 개발 (Development of IDM for BIM based Structural Steel Member Design)

  • IDM은 건설 프로젝트를 담당하는 각 전문분야의 업무 프로세스를 대상으로 정보교환의 시기 및 내용, 관련되는 IFC 객체 등을 정의하기 위한 개방형 정보전달 매뉴얼이다. 본 연구에서는 IDM 방법론을 통해 요구정보의 세부 정의 및 후속 프로세스로의 전달방법을 분석함으로써 BIM을 기반으로 철골부재의 단면설계를 수행하기 위한 정보모델을 정의하였다. 또한 현재 IFC에서 지원하는 구조정보를 분석하고 엑셀을 이용한 사례적용을 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, BIM 기반 철골부재 단면설계를 위한 대부분의 구조정보는 현재 통용되고 있는 $IFC2{\times}3$에서 지원하는 엔터티와 Pset을 활용해 관리가 가능하였으며, $IFC2{\times}3$에서 지원하지 않는 소성단면계수 등 일부 정보는 IFC4에 보완돼 있음을 확인하였다. 이와같이 IDM 방법론은 BIM 기반 철골부재의 단면설계를 위한 프로세스 분석 및 교환정보의 구체화, 공통적 기능단위 정보의 정의에 효과적으로 활용할 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구의 최종 목표는 모바일 인터넷 서비스의 사용편의성을 높이는 데 있어 그래픽디자인 평가 방법론을 개발하고, 인터페이스 디자인에서의 사용자 니즈(needs)를 예측할 수 있는 측정모델을 개발하며, 평가기반을 시스템화 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 GUI 디자인 평가 방법론의 핵심 내용을 시스템화하여 프로토타입(Prototype) 설계 및 평가과정을 직접 지원하는 UI 설계지원 시스템으로 구현하였다. Small Screen이라는 제한된 display 환경에서는 사용자가 인지의 과부하 없이 단시간에 임무를 완성하도록 조작정보의 흐름을 즉각적이고 함축적인 방법으로 알려줄 수 있는 사용자 중심의 시각언어-이미지를 이용하여야 하며, 또한 UI 설계에 반영함에 있어서는 객관성을 높여야만 한다. 이에 모바일 인터넷의 사용편의성을 체계적으로 평가할 수 있는 디자인 평가 방법론은 매우 중요하며, 특히 사용자의 디자인 니즈 및 트렌드(Trend)를 예측할 수 있는 그래픽디자인 평가모델은 사용자의 감성적인 측면을 인터페이스 디자인에 반영할 수 있다는 특성으로 해서 그 의의가 매우 크다고 할 것이다. 이러한 디자인 평가라는 결과를 토대로 모바일 인터넷 표준 GUI가 설계되었으며, 차후 유비쿼터스(Ubiquitous) 환경의 GUI 개발에도 활용이 될 수 있는 기초가 되었으면 한다.

  • This paper explores an optimal design methodology for an auto lever using a genetic algorithm. Components of the auto lever have been designed sequentially in the industry, but this study presents a novel design method to determine the design parameters of components simultaneously. The genetic algorithm approach is described to decide a set of design parameters for auto lever. The authors have attempted to model the design problem with the objective of minimizing the angle variation of detent spring subject to constraints such as modulus of elasticity of steel, geometry of shift pipe, and stiffness of spring. This method gives the promising design alternative.

  • 복합재 항공기 구조물의 설계 시 인증을 고려한 재료 허용치와 설계치의 설정이 매우 중요하다. 그리고 복합재 구조물의 재료 허용치와 설계치의 설정은 정적강도, 손상허용 요구 조건 및 환경효과가 고려되어야 한다. 빌딩블록 접근법은 오랫동안 민간 및 군수 항공 산업에 적용되어 왔으며 중요한 인증 방법론을 제공하였다. 현재의 인증 방법은 시편, 요소, 부구성품 및 전기체 시험을 포함하는 광범위한 실험을 기반으로 한다. 본 논문에서는 복합재 허용치 실험 사례가 제시되며 빌딩 블록 접근 방식의 중요한 배경 및 적용방법이 제시된다.

Intelligent Test Plan Metrics on Adaptive Use Case Approach

  • This paper describes a design driven approach to drive intelligent test plan generation based on adaptive use case (3,5). Its foundation is an object-oriented software design approach which partitions design schema into design architecture of functional components called “design component”. A use case software development methodology of adaptive use case approach developed in I.I .T is employed which preserves this unit architecture on through to the actual code structure. Based on the partition design schema produced during the design phase of this methodology, a test plan is generated which includes a set of component and scenario based test. A software metric is introduced which produces an ordering of this set to enhance productivity and both promote and capitalize on test case reusability, This paper contains an application that illustrates the proposed approach.

Characteristic Analysis and Design of a Single Phase Switched Reluctance Motor for High Speed Application

  • Switched reluctance motors have received much attention as a driving means for various industrial applications because they have simple construction, low cost and high efficiency. Nevertheless, the requirements of drive converters make it difficult to lower the overall system cost as compared with the DC motor application. Single phase switched reluctance motors (SPSRMs) provide a solution to the high cost problem since the number of switching power devices can be reduced and consequently the trials for application are increased. However, research involving SPSRMs, especially in the area of design work, is insufficient. This paper introduces a novel design methodology of single phase SRM. The design work for SPSRM comprises the determination of many variables such as stator and rotor pole arc as well as on, off and so on. Managing all variable combinations leads to lengthy computation time and a fault in the design process. For that reason, a reliable technique and brief procedure term are required in SPSRM design.
