  • X.435 is the EDI communication protocol published by CCITT and ISO/IEC in 1990. The message types and abstract services of EDI-MS are specified in X.435 recommendation. In this paper, the design methodology on implementation of MSIB in the case that MHS-MS is required to be extended into EDI-MS has been studied. The design methodology presented in this paper is the one using the mapping function of the object relation. This methodology considers the EDI message types and characterictics. The proposed design methodology han an advantage that is able to design the component tables of MSIB satisfying the third normal form and it does not require the normalization processing. The MSIB constructed by the proposed method can store and retrieve multi-values efficiently.

  • Nowadays an information exchange on Bn such as B2B electronic commerce is spreading. Therefore the systematic and stable management mechanism for storing the exchanged information is needed. For this goal there are many research activities for connection between XML application and relational database. But because XML data have hierarchical structures and relational database can store only flat-structured data, we need to store XML data in object-relational database that support hierarchical structure. Accordingly the modeling methodology for storing XML data in object-relational database is needed. In order to build good quality application systems, modeling is an important first step. In 1997, the OMG adopted the UML as its standard modeling language. Since industry has warmly embraced UML its popularity should become more important in the future. So a design methodology based on UML is need to develop efficiently XML applications. In this paper, we propose a unified design methodology for In applications based on object-relational database using In. To this goal, first we introduce a XML modeling methodology to design W3C XML schema using UML and second we propose data modeling methodology for object-relational database schema to store efficiently XML data in object-relational databases.

  • Though the studies on object-oriented software design which software component corresponds to phrases appearing in sentences of natural language have been going on, the design methodology has not been clearly set up yet. In this paper, the module structure of good quality was found not only by nouns that indicate class of object but also by subdividing sentences. I also suggested objected-oriented methodology observing the interdependency between objects and their relationships, and assessed the control problem of lift as an example.

  • This paper proposes the Systematic Design Methodology of the Korean High Speed Train. High Speed Train do not operate in isolation and are part of a rail system which is influenced through input and output effects from the environment and from the neighbouring system. To fulfil its overall desired function, such input and output relationships between the systems must be considered in the system boundary conditions. Therefore, the overall interrelationship of all these effects has to be carefully considered during the design process. Here proposed methodology may provide a guide line and criteria for the systematic problem solving method of that highly complex High Speed Train System.

  • This paper proposes a form-based distributed database design methodology ($FD^3$). The methodology consists of five design phases such as (i) form requirement analysis (ii) schema integration (iii) distribution analysis (iv) distribution design, and (v) local logical/physical design. In the $FD^3$, all the important design information for each phase is obtained by using an organizations forms, Users requirements are analyzed by using forms that contain logical and quantitative information for distribution design. $FD^3$ resolves naming conflicts by employing SQLs based on the form field data in the schema integration phase. Furthermore, $FD^3$ enhances the quality of distributed database design by incorporating communication costs into the design model. A real-life case is illustrated to demonstrate the usefulness of the $FD^3$.

  • 6 Sigma uses DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology as process of solving problem. Enterprise already propelling successfully 6 sigma such as Motorolla, GE and consulting companies leading 6 sigma also propose DMAIC methodology traditionally But from making 6 sigma activated, enterprises and 6 sigma consulting companies propose 6 sigma methodology matching office indirection part and research and development part. As the forward example, DFSS(Design For Six Sigma) is R&D part application in GE. This study investigates 6 sigma methodology corresponding to Right Process of the kernel factor. Especially for optimum design of the R&D part, revise DFSS definition and general concept organization through DFSS methodology research and analysis.

  • Designers are frequently faced with multiple quality issues in injection molded parts. These issues are usually In conflict with each other, and thus tradeoff needs to be made to reach a final compromised solutions. The objective of this study is to develop an automated injection molding design methodology, whereby part defects such as warpage and weld line are optimized. The features of the proposed methodology are as follows: first, Utility Function approach is applied to transform the original multiple objective problem into single objective problem. Second is an implementation of a direct search-based Injection molding optimization procedure with automated consideration of process variation. The Space Reduction Method based on Taguchi's DOE(Design Of Experiment) is used as a general optimization tool in this study. The computational experimental verification of the methodology was partially carried out for a can model of Cavallero Plastics Incorporation, U. S. A. Applied to production, this study will be of immense value to companies in reducing the product development time and enhancing the product quality.

  • A data warehouse is a system that collectively manages and integrates data of a company. And provides the basis for decision making for management strategy. Nowadays, analysis data volumes are reaching critical size challenging traditional data ware housing approaches. Current implemented solutions are mainly based on relational database that are no longer adapted to these data volume. NoSQL solutions allow us to consider new approaches for data warehousing, especially from the multidimensional data management point of view. In this paper, we extend the data warehouse design methodology based on relational database using star schema, and have developed a consistent design methodology from information requirement analysis to data warehouse construction for large scale data warehouse construction based on MongoDB, one of NoSQL.

  • This paper proposes a systematic design methodology for high-speed/high-precision servomechanisms by using a disturbance observer. A multiplicative uncertainty model and a two degree-of-freedom controller composed of a disturbance observer (DOB) and a PD controller are considered as subsystems. Analysis of the system performance, such as internal stability and bandwidth of a servomechanism according to subsystem parameters is conducted for better understanding of the dynamic behavior and interactions among the subsystem parameters. Then, an integrated design methodology, where the interactions are considered simultaneously, is applied to design processes of the servomechanism. The tradeoff relationship between disturbance suppression and measurement noise rejection of the DOB is considered through the design process. Numerical case studies show the improved possibility to evaluate and optimize the dynamic motion performance of the servomechanism. Moreover, the disturbance observer designed based on the proposed design methodology yields excellent disturbance suppression performance.

  • Engineering is a value-adding process applying knowledge and skills in the construction industry that includes the planning, feasibility study, project management (PM), front end engineering and design (FEED), detail design, procurement, construction, supervision, and operation. Among these engineering activities, FEED is defined as a comprehensive design practice in the early design phase focused on conceptual design and basic design. It is a particularly influencing area that determines the competitiveness of procurement and construction capability of construction firms (KNIN 2013). Nevertheless, previous studies in FEED have been limited to the design process, deliverable, or particular management technique (e.g. system engineering, collaboration, information etc.). In this context, the purpose of this study is to propose a comprehensive FEED business process structure for project management of thermal power plant construction projects encompassing the entire project life cycle. And an assessment methodology for FEED functions was developed. It is expected that the proposed structure of FEED functions and FEED evaluation methodology will contribute to improvement of competitive capability of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies.
