  • Rapid and complete epidermal-dermal separation procedure were determined in neonatal rat skin by light microscopic observation and by compairing enzyme activities in the separated epidermis. Microscopic appearance demonstrated the at four different separation procedures used in the study resulted in good separation of epidermis from dermis` heating method (i.e., immersion in 55C water for 30 sec, followed by immersion in 0-4C water) and microwave irradiation for 10 sec were saving time.

  • The 180W is the lightest isotope of Tungsten with small abundance ratio. It is slightly radioactive (α decay), with an extremely long half-life. Its separation is possible by non-conventional single withdrawal cascades. The 180W is used in radioisotopes production and study of metals through gamma-ray spectroscopy. In this paper, single withdrawal cascade model is developed to evaluate multicomponent separation in non-conventional transient cascades, and available experimental results are used for validation. Numerical studies for separation of 180W in a transient single withdrawal cascade are performed. Parameters affecting the separation and equilibrium time of cascade such as number of stages, cascade arrangements, feed location and flow rate for a fixed number of gas centrifuges (GC) are investigated. The Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA) as a bio-inspired optimization algorithm is applied as a novel method to minimize the feed consumption to obtain desired concentration in the collection tank. Examining different cascade arrangements, it is observed in arrangements with more stages, the separation is further efficient. Based on the obtained results, with increasing feed flow rate, for fixed product concentration, the cascade equilibrium time decreases. Also, it is shown while the feed location is the farthest stage from the collection tank, the separation and cascade equilibrium time are well-organized. Finally, using SSA optimal parameters of the cascade is calculated, and optimal arrangement to produce 5 gr of 180W with 90% concentration in the tank, is proposed.

  • Liquid chromatographic enantiomer separation of ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters as nitrobenzoxadiazole (NBD) derivatives was performed using several chiral stationary phases (CSPs) based on polysaccharide derivatives under fluorescence detection. For enantiomer separation by normal HPLC, the non-aqueous derivatization method of ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters for NBD analytes was introduced. Among the six CSPs used in this study, the performance of Chiralpak IA was superior for enantiomer resolution of NBD derivatives of several ${\alpha}$-amino acid methyl esters. Also the convenient analytical method using polysaccharide-derived CSPs developed in this study was applied to determine the optical purity of ${\alpha}$-amino acids esters. It was investigated that the enantiomeric impurity levels of 0.02-1.73% were found after determination of enantiomeric purities of several commercially available L-amino acid methyl esters. It is expected to be quite useful for enantiomer separation of other ${\alpha}$-amino acid esters as NBD derivatives by normal HPLC.

  • The requirements for separation between ICT cables and power cables depend upon the electromagnetic immunity of the ICT cable, the construction of the power cable, the quantity of, and type of electrical circuits and the presence of dividers etc. We studied and reviewed the regulations and standards relevant for requirements of this separation in domestic and foreign. And then we would like to suggest the method of separation calculation between ICT and power cabling taking the EMC into consideration.

  • The purpose of this study is to supply basic data for distinction of Support and Infill in Open Housing. This study is based on archive survey and actual investigation through visiting four sites in Japan, which are experimental SI(skeleton & infill) housings. We found a lot of distinction techniques and methods applied to the SI housings, and findings are applicable to the planning and designing works of apartment housings. Based on the theoretical Studies concerning the distinction and separation of SI housing, this study made out interface map for separation and distinction of housing components and examined a design method of separation accordingly.

  • This paper is on a stereo acoustic echo canceller with the blind signal separation. The convergence speed of the stereo acoustic echo canceller is deteriorated due to mixing two residual signals in the update signal of each echo canceller. To solve this problem, we are to use the blind signal separation(BSS) method separating the mixed signals. The blind signal separation method can extracts the source signals by means of the iterative computations with two input signals. We had verified performances of the proposed acoustic echo canceller for stereo through simulations. The results of simulations show that the acoustic echo canceller for stereo using this algorithm operates stably without divergence in the normal state. And, when the speech signals were inputted, this echo canceller achieved about 3dB higher ERLE in the case of using the BSS algorithm than the case of not using the BSS algorithm. But this echo canceller didn't get good performances in the case of inputting the white noises as stereo signals.

  • We investigate the triboelectrostatic separation of polyvinylchloride (PVC) from mixed plastics in the laboratory scale triboelectrostatic separation system. The flow and electric fields in the precipitator are obtained from the numerical solution of finite volume method. Using these flow and electric fields, we solved the particle motion equation considering the inertia, drag, gravity and electrostatic forces acted on the particles. The particle trajectories are obtained using a Lagrangian method as a function of different important variables such as Reynolds number, Stokes number, electrostatic force, electric charge and electric field distribution, inclined angle of plane electrodes, particle rebounding, particle charge decay rate after impact on the electrode surface, etc., in order to determine the optimal design conditions. The present predicted results for the cumulative yield represent well the experimental ones.

  • A properly determined separation minima applied in Air Traffic Management(ATM) is critical for safe and efficient aircraft operations. The separation minima is primarily determined by the accuracy performance of surveillance system, and, due to the stringent aviation safety standard, the position accuracy of the surveillance system must be estimated with a high level of reliability. This study proposed a method for estimating the position accuracy of surveillance system with a relatively small amount of data by finding upper confidence limit instead of maximum likelihood values of unknown parameters. Through the proposed method, it is possible to determine a required separation minima with a more reliability in the face of data scarcity which often occurs when we implement a new surveillance system such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B).

  • Source separation is a statistical method, the goal of which is to separate the linear instantaneous mixtures of statistically independent sources without resorting to any prior knowledge. This paper addresses a source separation algorithm which is able to separate the mixtures of sub- and super-Gaussian sources. The nonlinear function in the proposed algorithm is derived from the generalized Gaussian distribution that is a set of distributions parameterized by a real positive number (Gaussian exponent). Based on the relationship between the kurtosis and the Gaussian exponent, we present a simple and efficient way of selecting proper nonlinear functions for source separation. Useful behavior of the proposed method is demonstrated by computer simulations.

  • A reversed-phase high-performace liquid chromatographic method was developed to determine the optical purity of metoprolol enantiomers. The enantiomers were converted to diastereomeric derivatives using (-)-menthyl chloroformate reagent. Separation of the enantiomers as diastereomers was achieved by reversed-phase HPLC within 30 min using Inertsil C8 column. This method allowed determination of 0.05% of either enantiomer in the presence of its stereoisomer and method validation showed adequate linearity over the required range. Owing to the reaction condition during the derivatization with (-)-menthyl chloroformate, the possibility of racemization had to be established. Different ratios of (S)-(-)-metoprolol and (R)-(+)-metoprolol were prepared. Enantiomeric separation of these mixtures took place on a chiralcel OD column or, after derivatization with (-)-menthyl chloroformate, on a C8 column. The results form the these two independent separation systems were compared with trace racemization and were in very good agreement. No racemization was found during the experiment.
