  • Facial expression is an effective tool to express human emotion. In this paper, a facial expression analysis method based on the base faces and their blending ratio is proposed. The seven base faces were chosen as axes describing and analyzing arbitrary facial expression. We set up seven facial expressions such as, surprise, fear, anger, disgust, happiness, sadness, and expressionless as base faces. Facial expression was built by fitting generic 3D facial model to facial image. Two comparable methods, Genetic Algorithms and Simulated Annealing were used to search the blending ratio of base faces. The usefulness of the proposed method for facial expression analysis was proved by the facial expression synthesis results.

  • A new force expression on dielectrics subjected to electric field is proposed in this paper. It is the electric version of the equivalent magnetizing current method in magnetic field. From the idea of electromagnetic duality, virtual equivalent electrifying magnetic current method is conjectured in the field of dielectric force problem. Numerical results show that the proposed method has good agreements with the conventional methods. The merits and demerits of the proposed method are also discussed.

  • This study is a understanding on technological specific expression to reflect of a research institute in modern architecture. For this study, it separately reduce space program, plan program, design elements of elevation, structural system, mechanical system, building material program to its expressional elements of research institute. Also, it's arranged about a specificity that is expressed for technology each plan elements of a research institute. As a result, elements what is expressive of technology on research institute are influenced an aesthetic expression, expression of an arrangement system, structural expression, expression of architectural organization, and it influences more getting feels technological specificity expressed an aesthetic, structural system, architectural composition, mechanical distribution system in order of their magnitude. This is offered suggestion what must be an achievable complex both a simply technological expression and aesthetic expression.

  • In the last decade, face analysis, e.g. face detection, face recognition, facial expression recognition, is a very lively and expanding research field. As computer animated agents and robots bring a social dimension to human computer interaction, interest in this research field is increasing rapidly. In this paper, we introduce an artificial emotion mimic system which can recognize human facial expressions and also generate the recognized facial expression. In order to recognize human facial expression in real-time, we propose a facial expression classification method that is performed by weak classifiers obtained by using new rectangular feature types. In addition, we make the artificial facial expression using the developed robotic system based on biological observation. Finally, experimental results of facial expression recognition and generation are shown for the validity of our robotic system.

  • This paper describes Facial Expression Explorer to search for the components of a facial expression and to map the expression to other expressionless figures like a robot, frog, teapot, rabbit and others. In general, it is a time-consuming and laborious job to create a facial expression manually, especially when the facial expression must personify a well-known public figure or an actor. In order to extract a blending ratio from facial images automatically, the Facial Expression Explorer uses Networked Genetic Algorithm(NGA) which is a fast method for the convergence by GA. The blending ratio is often used to create facial expressions through shape blending methods by animators. With the Facial Expression Explorer a realistic facial expression can be modeled more efficiently.

  • This paper describes method to distribute much high-dimensional facial expression motion data to 2 dimensional space, and method to create facial expression animation by select expressions that want by realtime as animator navigates this space. In this paper composed expression space using about 2400 facial expression frames. The creation of facial space is ended by decision of shortest distance between any two expressions. The expression space as manifold space expresses approximately distance between two points as following. After define expression state vector that express state of each expression using distance matrix which represent distance between any markers, if two expression adjoin, regard this as approximate about shortest distance between two expressions. So, if adjacency distance is decided between adjacency expressions, connect these adjacency distances and yield shortest distance between any two expression states, use Floyd algorithm for this. To materialize expression space that is high-dimensional space, project on 2 dimensions using Sammon's Mapping. Facial animation create by realtime with animators navigating 2 dimensional space using user interface.

  • Clustering is one of widely used methods for grouping thousands of genes by their similarities of expression levels, so that it helps to analyze gene expression profiles. This method has been used for identifying the functions of genes. Fuzzy clustering method, which is one category of clustering, assigns one sample to multiple groups according to their degrees of membership. This method is more appropriate for analyzing gene expression profiles because single gene might involve multiple genetic functions. Clustering methods, however, have the problems that they are sensitive to initialization and can be trapped into local optima. To solve these problems, this paper proposes an evolutionary fuzzy clustering method, where adaptive a-cut based evaluation is used for the fitness evaluation to apply different criteria considering the characteristics of datasets to overcome the limitation of Bayesian validation method that applies the same criterion to all datasets. We have conducted experiments with SRBCT and yeast cell-cycle datasets and analyzed the results to confirm the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • Considering the established research about the characteristics of traditional expression in a contemporary korean architecture, there are two critical problems. the one is that the extent of a case is limited to a public building and a large exhibition building. the other is that the angle of research focus on the viewpoint of specific a level. To settle these problems and supplement a established research, this study is to investigate and analyze the characteristics of popular traditional expression in small commercial buildings. In A viewpoint on the expansion of a case and a various angle, A small commercial buildings is selected as a case. because it is felt that the populace's taste vis-a-vis traditional expression. To investigate and analyze, A main analytic criterion is follows. 1) A expressional method on traditional architectural form 2) A expressional aspect by architectural element 3) A expressional aspect in architectural material 4) A expressional aspect in architectural structure. In consequence we can find out the following results in the process of analysis. 1) In expressional method on traditional architectural form, the traditional expression is represented as the imitation and transformation of a traditional folk house forms, and the embodiment of traditional image 2) In expressional aspect by architectural element, the traditional expression elements is mainly represented at a straw roof and a mud-plastered wall 3) the traditional expression material is mainly straw, timber, small wood boards and mud 4) In expressional aspect in architectural structure, the traditional expression is represented from the viewpoint of decorative expression.

  • In this paper, we present a new method for reconstructing detailed facial expression from roughly captured data with a small number of markers. Because of the difference in the required capture resolution between the full-body capture and the facial expression capture, they hardly have been performed simultaneously. However, for generating natural animation, a simultaneous capture for body and face is essential. For this purpose, we provide a method for capturing the detailed facial expression only with a small number of markers. Our basic idea is to build a database for the facial expressions and apply the principal component analysis for reducing the dimensionality. The dimensionality reduction enables us to estimate the full data from a part of the data. We justify our method by applying it to dynamic scenes to show the viability of the method.
