  • Poly(ethyleneglycol methacrylate-co-benzyl methacrylate) (P(PEGMA-co-BMA) 마이크로겔을 폴리아크릴산 용액에서 PEGMA와 벤질 메타아크릴레이트를 침전중합법으로 합성하였다.

  • The transport phenomena of alkali metal chlorides through poly(2 hydroxyethyl methacrylate) hydrogel membrane have been studied using electrodialysis. The hydrogel membranes were prepared by the polymerization of 2-hydroxvethyl methacrylate in the presence of 45%(V/V) H2O and ethyleneglycodimethacrylate. The initiator used in the polymerization was azobismethylisobutyrate (AMIB) prepared from azobisiobtyronitrile (AIBN) using Mortimer method. The permeability of alkali metal chlorides such LiCl, NaCl and KCI at 50 voltage was obtained. The permeability of NaCl was also observed at 30, 40, 50, and 60 voltages respectively. The concentration of solutes permeated through the membrane was measurer by flame photometry. The experimental results have been discussed with the comparison of apparent solute molecular size, the self-diffusion coefficient of solutes, the transport number of cations in aqueous solution. These indic aloes that poly(2 hydroxyethyl methacrylate) hydrogel membrane shows a specific selectivity for sodium ion.

  • Sorbitan methacrylate was synthesized from sorbitan dehydrated from D-sorbitol using an immobilized lipase. To optimize the enzymatic synthesis of sorbitan methacrylate, response surface methodology was applied to determine the effects of five-level-four-factors and their reciprocal interactions on sorbitan methacrylate biosynthesis. A total of 30 individual experiments were performed, which were designed to study reaction temperature, reaction time, enzyme amount and substrate molar ratio. A statistical model predicted that the highest conversion yield of sorbitan methacrylate was 100%, at the following optimized reaction conditions: a reaction temperature of 43.06 $^{\circ}C$, a reaction time of 164.25 mins., an enzyme amount of 7.47%, and a substrate molar ratio of 3.98:1. Using these optimal factor values under experimental conditions in four independent replicates, the average conversion yield reached 98.7%${\pm}$1.2% and was well within the value predicted by the model.

  • Using glycidyl methacrylate-linked poly(dimethylsiloxane), methyl methacrylate was polymerized in supercritical $CO_2$. The effects of $CO_2$ pressure, reaction time, and mixing on the yield, molecular weight, and molecular weight distribution (MWD) of the poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) products were investigated. The shape, number average particle diameter, and particle size distribution (PSD) of the PMMA were characterized. Between 69 and 483 bar, the yield and molar mass of the PMMA products showed a trend of increasing with increasing $CO_2$ pressure. However, the yield leveled off at around 345 bar and the particle diameter of the PMMA increased until the pressure reached 345 bar and decreased thereafter. With increasing pressure, MWD became more uniform while PSD was unaffected. As the reaction time was extended at 207 bar, the particle diameter of PMMA decreased at $0.48{\pm}0.03%$ AIBN, but increased at 0.25% AIBN. Mixing the reactant mixture increased the PMMA yield by 18.6% and 9.3% at 138 and 207 bar, respectively.

  • Photopolymerization, the utilization of electromagnetic radiation(or light) as the energy source for polymerization of functional monomers, oligomers is the basis of important commercial processes with broad applicability, including photoimaging and RV curing of coatings and inks. The objective of this study is to investigate the characteristics of environmental fraternitive photopolymerization of methyl methacrylate(MMA). This work is the first step to continue further research about alkyl methacrylate. The experiment was done in aqueous solution under the influence of photo-initiator concentration(0.05-0.25mol/l), light intensity (5000-9000 ${\mu}J/cm^2$) and monomer concentration(2-6mol/l). Methyl methacrylate was polymerized to high conversion ratio using hydrogen peroxide($H_2O_2$) and the kinetics model we have obtained is as follows. $R_p=k_p[S]^{0.41}[M]^{0.62}[L]^{2.45} exp(53.64/RT$). The differential method of thermogravimetric analysis(Friedman method) was used to obtain value of activation energy on decomposition reaction. The average value of it res 45.4Kca1/mol.

  • The grafting of butyl methacrylate onto gelatin was investigated by potassium persulfate(KPS) redox system in aqueous solution. The optimum conditions of grafting were observed, and the physical property and the biocolnpatibility of graft copolymer membrane were examined. The gas permeability and the biodegradation by bacteria were decreased with the grafting percentage increased, and tensile strength increased with the grafting percentage increased.

  • The graft copolymerization of chloroprene rubber with methyl methacrylate in toluene solution has been carried out varying the concentration of monomer, initiator, CR, reaction time, and reaction temperature, etc.. It is observed that the grafting reaction follows conventional kinetic behavior under the present experimental conditions. Identification of grafting on to chloroprene rubber was obtained through characterization of the graft copolymer by infrared spectrometer.

  • Cefuroxime axetil, a broad spectrum antibiotic, has been known to form a gelatinous mass in contact with aqueous media, which could lead to poor dissolution. Therefore, this study was conducted for removing the gelling phenomenon and thereby obtaining a favorable dissolution profile. We have found that the addition of poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate) could not only inhibit the tendency of cefuroxime axetil to form a gel but also showed the good dissolution profile compared to the formula without poly (methacrylic acid, methyl methacrylate). • Exfoliated poly(methyl methacrylate-co-styrene) [P(MMA-co-ST)]/silicate nanocomposites were synthesized through a multistep emulsion polymerization. The methyl methacrylate monomers were polymerized first and then the styrene monomers were polymerized. The nanocomposites had core-shell structures consisting of PMMA (core) and PS (shell); these structures were confirmed by $^1$H NMR spectroscopy and TEM, respectively. P(MMA-co-ST) copolymers showed two molecular weight profiles and two glass transition temperatures (T$_{g}$) in GPC and DMA measurements. At 30 $^{\circ}C$, the nanocomposites exhibited 83 and 91 % increases in their storage moduli relative to the neat copolymer because the silicate layers were dispersed uniformly in the polymer matrix.x.

  • In the solution polymerizations of methyl methacrylate with (${\alpha}$-diimine)nickel(II)/methylaluminoxane (MAO), we observed effects of the position of two methyl substituents in the ligand on both the activities of the catalysts and the polymer microstructure. ${\alpha}$-Diimine nickel(II) catalysts gave syndiotactic-rich poly(methyl methacrylate) with high molecular weight and narrow molecular weight distribution.
