Template Synthesis and Properties of Square Planar Nickel(II) and Copper(II) Complexes of 14-Membered Hexaaza Macrocyclic Ligands with Various Alkyl Pendant Arms at the Uncoordinated Nitrogens

  • Square planar nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes of 14-membered macrocyclic ligands containing various alkyl pendant arms at the uncoordinated nitrogen atoms, 1,8-dipropyl, 1,8-dibutyl, 1,8-bis(2-methylpropyl), 1,8-bis(2-ethylhexyl), and 1,8-dibenzyl-1,3,6,8,10,13-hexaazacyclotetradecane have been prepared from the template condensation of ethylenediamine, formaldehyde, and appropriate primary amines in the presence of the metal ion. The spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of these complexes are similar to those of tetraaza macrocyclic complexes and are not affected significantly by the nature of the alkyl groups.

  • The compound B(C6F5)3 and its variations have been widely employed as alkyl carbanion abstracting reagents to produce metallocene cations for olefin polymerization.1-3 Weakly coordinating anions containing boron can greatly improve the activity of metallocene catalysts used in industrial olefin polymerization4 and thus group IV and V metallocene complexes of the organohydroborate anions have been intensively investigated.5 Recently, many organohydroborate metallocene complexes have been reported by Shore and co-workers.6-8 A common structural feature of those complexes is the three-center two electron M-H-B bond, like that observed in transition metal tetrahydroborate complexes but the reactivity and fluxional behavior of organohydroborate complexes are unlike those of the tetrahydroborate analogues.6 Although many of those metallocenes have been synthesized, few complexes could be used in the olefin polymerization and then this laboratory has been involved in the chemistry of the cyclic organohydroborate anions, and their group IV metallocene derivatives for the catalyst.9 Described here is recent work that led to the preparation of a novel cyclic organohydroborate hafnocene complex (h5-C5H5)2Hf ?(μ-H)2BC8H14 ,Cl. The hafnocene complex contains the three-center two electron bond Hf-H-B10 in which the hydride abstraction for olefin polymerization may occur.

희토류금속(III) 착물들의 합성과 전자적 구조와 전기화학적 거동에 관한 연구 (II) (A Study on the Synthesis, Electronic Structure, and Electrochemical Behavior of Rare Earth Metal(III) Complexes (II))

  • 란탄나이드 3가($Pr^{3+}$$Dy^{3+}$)와 유기 리간드를 (phen', terpy') 착물들의 거동을 UV/vis 분광분석, 자기화 그리고 전기화학적 방법에 의해 조사하였다. 착물들의 결정장 갈라짐 에너지 크기와 짝지움에너지 그리고 스핀상태는 착물들의 스펙트라로부터 얻었다. 이들 착물들에 대한 전지화학적 거동은 비수용매속에서 순환 전압전류법에 의해 관찰하였다. 이들 환원피크는 전자 전이에 의한 비가역적인 2단계의 환원 과정이었다.

$Cu^{2+}$-Anthraquinone Complexes : Formation, Interaction with DNA, and Biological Activity

  • Growth inhibition potency of the anthraquinones, anthraquinone-1,5-disulfonic acid and carminic acid, for Sarcoma 180 and L1210 leukemia cells in vivo and in vitro, was induced by the divalent transition metal ion, $Cu^{2+}$. On the other hand spectroscopic titration data show that the anthraquinone drugs form $Cu2^+$ chelate complexes (carminic acid : $Cu^{2+}$ = 1 : 6; anthraquinone-1,5-disulfonic acid : $Cu^{2+}$ = 1 : 3). Furthermore the $Cu^{2+}$-drug complexes associate with DNA to form the $Cu^{2+}$-anthraquinone-DNA ternary complexes. The formation of the complexes was further supported by the $H_2O_2-dependent$ DNA degradation, which can be inhibited by ethidium bromide, caused by the $Cu^{2+}$-drug complexes. It is likely that the $Cu^{2+}$-mediated cytotoxicity of the anthraquinone drugs is related with the $Cu^{2+}-mediated$ binding of the anthraquinone drugs to DNA and DNA degradation.

용리제의 종류에 따른 금속착물의 크로마토그래피적인 거동에 관한 연구 (Studies on Chromatographic Behaviors of the Metal Complexes by Various Eluents)

  • 용리 양이온의 바뀜에 따른 양이온착물에 대한 용리거동을 조사하였다. 높은 농도의 KCl, NaCl 및 $NH_4C$l수용액을 용리제로 사용하였을 때 친수성착물의 용리부피는 $NH_4^+ > Na^+ > K^+$의 순으로 증가하였지만 낮은 농도에서 친수성착물의 용리부피는 $Na^+ > NH_4^+ > K^+의 순으로 증가하였다. 반면에 전 농도 범위의 KCl, NaCl 및 NH_4Cl수용액을 용리제로 사용하였을 때 소수성착물의 용리부피는 NH_4^+ > Na^+ > K^+의 순서로 증가하였다. 그리고 용리음이온이 바뀜에 따른 양이온착물에 대한 용리거동을 조사하였다. 친수성착물은 할로겐화 이온중의 Cl-과 강하게 회합하였지만 소수성착물은 I-과 더 강하게 회합하였다. SO_4^2$-는 비교적 수화가 강하게 일어나므로 친수성 착물과 회합이 강하였고 소수성착물과는 회합이 약하였다.

공액 사슬을 갖는 철 화합물의 전기화학적 특성 (Electrochemical Properties of Diiron Complexes wish Conjugated Chains)

  • The complex 1 $([Cp*Fe(CO)_2]_2-(\mu-CH=CH-CH=CH))$ which have butadiene as a bridge were synthesized from $Cp*(CO)_2FeK$ and cis-3,4-dichlorocyclobutene. The derivatives of complex 1 where one or two carbonyl groups are replaced by phosphine ligands have been prepared by photochemical substitution. The new derivatives $([Cp*Fe(L)_2]_2-(\mu-CH=CH-CH=CH))$ where L = $(Ph_2PCH_2CH_2PPh_2)$ and $([Cp*Fe(CO)(L)]_2-(\mu-CH=CH-CH=CH))$ where L : $PPh_3$ have been characterized from $^^1H-$, $^^13C-$,$^^31P-NMR$ and elemental analysis. Obtained complexes have been studied in electrochemical experiment and UV/VIS-near-IR. The mixed-valence radical cation forms of complex 2, 3 species were found to be delocalized as the Class III. Based on the separation of the waves ($\triangle E$ : 0.470 ~ 0.605 V), the efficiency of electronic communication between two metal centers of cation species leading to stabilization relative to neutral species. The phosphine-substitute complexes (2, 3) displays two reversible oxidation waves and oxidation state of metal centers-dependent color change, electrochromism, was observed from yellow to orange and deep blue in methylene chloride.

Interaction between Metalloporphyrins and Diazine Tautomers

  • The interaction between metalloporphyrins and diazine tautomers was investigated using quantum chemistry method. The results showed that the metal atom in the metalloporphyrin was not coplanar with porphin ring, and zinc porphyrin has the most extent of its non-coplanar nature. The most stable complex in nine complexes was iron porphyrin. NBO analysis indicated that the interaction between the lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom and the unoccupied lone pair orbital of metal contributes significantly to the stability of the complexes. Through the conceptual DFT parameter and Fukui dual descriptor, the thermodynamic stability and reactivity of complexes were analyzed. The density difference function (DDF) analyzes were performed to explore the rearrangement of electronic density after the coordination interaction. NICS calculation indicated that metalloporphyrin aromaticity was reduced after the coordination interaction, and aromaticity of diazine tautomer was increased along direction vector of the coordination interaction force.

Crystal Structures and Thermal Properties of Two Binuclear Cd(II) Supramolecular Complexes Based on Quinolinecarboxylate Ligand

  • Two novel binuclear metal-organic coordination complexes $[Cd_2(L)_2(bpy)_2(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}6H_2O$ (1), $[Cd_2(L)_2(phen)_2-(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}2H_2O$ (2) (where L = 2-methylquinoline-3,4-dicarboxylate dianion, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal Xray diffraction, spectral method (IR), elemental analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). Both 1 and 2 consist of two Cd(II) atoms bridged by two monoatomic bridging carboxylate groups from two L ligands, and the second carboxylate group of each L is monodentately coordinated to Cd(II), creating a sevenmembered chelating ring. The coordination at each metal nucleus is completed by a water molecule and a chelating bidentate molecule. The 3D structures of the complexes are stabilized by ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonds.

Adsorptions and Dissociations of Nitric Oxides at Metalloporphyrin Molecules on Metal Surfaces: Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Spectroscopy Study

  • Organometallic complexes containing unpaired spins, such as metalloporphyrin or metallophthalocyanine, have extensively studied with increasing interests of their promising model systems in spintronic applications. Additionally, the use of these complexes as an acceptor molecule in chemical sensors has recently received great attentions. In this presentation, we have investigated adsorption of nitric oxide (NO) molecules at Co-porphyrin molecules on Au(111) surfaces with scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy at low temperature. At the location of Co atom in Co-porphyrin molecules, we could observe a Kondo resonance state near Fermi energy in density of states (DOS) before exposing NO molecules and the Kondo resonance state was disappeared after NO exposing because the electronic spin structure of Co-porphyrin were modified by forming a cobalt-NO bonding. Furthermore, we could locally control the chemical reaction of NO dissociations from NO-CoTPP by electron injections via STM probe. After dissociation of NO molecules, the Kondo resonance state was recovered in density of state. With a help of density functional theory (DFT) calculations, we could understand that the modified electronic structures for NO-Co-porphyrin could be occurred by metal-ligand hybridization and the dissociation mechanisms of NO can be explained in terms of the resonant tunneling process via molecular orbitals.

새로운 구조의 키랄 살렌 촉매상에서 페놀유도체에 의한 에폭사이드의 광학선택적 개환반응 (Enantioselective Phenolic Kinetic Resolution of Epoxides Catalyzed by New Chiral Salen Complexes)

  • 구조중에 1개의 tert-부틸기를 가진 새로운 형태의 키랄살렌 착체를 합성하여 비대칭반응 촉매로서 활용하였다. 알루미늄족의 금속염을 소유한 이량체형의 키랄 살렌 촉매는 에폭사이드의 산소고리를 페놀류로 여는 비대칭반응에서 매우 높은 활성과 선택성을 나타내었다. 또한 무기담체에 고정화된 살렌 착체도 이 반응에 대하여 효과적인 촉매로 사용할 수 있었다. 새로운 키랄 살렌촉매 중에 존재하는 금속염의 종류는 광학선택적 반응에서 중요한 영향을 나타내었다.
