With the rapid development of 3D animation, MetaHuman is widely used in film production, game development and VR production as a virtual human creation platform. In the animation production of virtual humans, motion capture is usually used.Since different motion capture solutions use different skeletons for motion recording, when the skeleton level of recorded animation data is different from that of MetaHuman, the animation data recorded by motion capture cannot be directly used on MetaHuman. This requires Reorient the skeletons of both. This study explores an efficient skeleton reorientation method that can maintain the accuracy of animation data by reducing the number of bone chains. In the experiment, three skeleton structures, Rokoko, Mixamo and Xsens were used for efficient redirection experiments, to compare and analyze the adaptability of different skeleton structures to the MetaHuman skeleton, and to explore which skeleton structure has the highest compatibility with the MetaHuman skeleton. This research provides an efficient skeleton reorientation idea for the production team of 3D animated video content, which can significantly reduce time costs and improve work efficiency.

Recently, the use of Unreal Engine for animation production is increasing. In this situation, Unreal Engine's 'MetaHuman Creator' helps make it easier to apply realistic characters to animation. In this regard, we tried to produce animations using 'MetaHuman' and verify the effectiveness and differences from the animation production process using only Maya software. To increase the efficiency of the production process, the animation process was made with Maya software. We tried to import animation data from Unreal Engine and go through the process of making animations, and try to find out if there are any problems. And we tried to compare animations made with realistic 'MetaHuman' characters and animation works using cartoon-type characters. The use of the same camera lens in realistic character animations and cartoon character animations produced based on the same scenario was judged to be the cause of the lack of realistic animation screen composition. The analysis revealed that a different approach from the existing animation camera lens selection is required for the selection of the camera lens in the production of realistic animation.
This study introduces the construct of meta-parenting or a superordinate category of effortful cognition, including anticipation, assessment, reflection and problems. Also, it aims to analyse meta-parenting in terms of demographic variables and investigate how it relates to other cognitions on parenting and parenting behaviors. One hundred seventy three mothers of preschool children were surveyed on Hawk's (2007) Meta-Parenting, Sameroff and Feil's (1985) Concepts of Development, Stipek, Danniels, Galluzzo, & Milburn's (1992) Activities Sub-scales. They also commented on their views of appropriate methods of child-rearing and the starting age of extra-curricula activity and the number of extra-curricula activities. The main results were as follows: Mothers showed the highest score on assessment followed by anticipation, reflection and problems while these four components of meta-parenting were highly correlated to each other. Among demographic variables, only the mothers' age and education were linked to some component of meta-parenting. Meta-parenting was correlated with complexity of thinking but not with views on appropriate methods of child-rearing. Also, meta-parenting was associated with formal and informal activities at home and the beginning time of providing the extra-curricula activity with the total number of extra-curricula activities provided at present.
Objective: The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate potential effects of HRT (hormone replacement therapy) on motor functions in postmenopausal women. Method: In this meta-analysis, 19 studies that examined changes in motor functions between postmenopausal women with and without HRT intervention were qualified. We additionally conducted moderator variable analyses including: (1) motor function type, (2) hormone type, and (3) duration of HRT intervention. Results: The random effects model showed no significant overall effects (SMD = 0.199; SE = 0.115; 95% CI = -0.026~0.425; Z = 1.730; p = 0.084; I2 = 93.258%). Additional three moderator variable analyses revealed no significant effect sizes indicating that specific HRT protocols did not improve different motor functions in postmenopausal women. Conclusion: These meta-analytic findings suggest that HRT had no positive effects on motor functions in postmenopausal women.
Background: Recent reports have shown that DLC-1 is widely expressed in normal tissues and is down-regulated in a wide range of human tumors, suggesting it may act as a tumor suppressor gene. We conducted a meta-analysis to determine the correlation between DLC-1 expression and clinicopathological characteristics in cancers. Materials and Methods: A detailed literature search was made for relevant publications from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library databases, Web of Science, CNKI. The methodological quality of the studies was also evaluated. Analyses of pooled data were performed and odds ratios (ORs) were calculated and summarized. Results: Final analysis was performed of 1,815 cancer patients from 19 eligible studies. We observed that DLC- 1 expression was significantly lower in cancers than in normal tissues. DLC-1 expression was not found to be associated with tumor differentiation status. However, DLC-1 expression was obviously lower in advance stage than in early-stage cancers and was more down-regulated in metastatic than non-metastatic cancers. Conclusions: The results of our meta-analysis suggested that DLC-1 expression is significantly lower in cancers than in normal tissues. Aberrant DLC-1 expression may play an important role in cancer genesis and metastasis.
In this study, we suggested a data structure for the management of human libraries based on the analysis of the significant components for systematically managing and operating the human library service. At first, we proposed the components of human library metadata set which are 'Human Resource', 'Human Resource', 'Librarian', 'Volunteer', and 'User'. And this study verified the meta concepts of metadata set such as 'Human Library', 'Human Book' and 'User', developed the metadata set for human library using the meta concepts. To check the validity of the metadata set and to improve its usability, we created and published a XML document including the metadata structure and link between the meta concepts. In conclusion, this study provided the possibility that the library could develop the service recommended human book to user through user profile.
This study aimed to investigate the association between p53 Arg72Pro polymorphism and the risk of human papillomavirus (HPV)-related head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) by conducting meta-analysis. The PubMed database was searched for relevant studies until May 30, 2013. Relevant studies were selected and data were extracted by two independent authors. Overall, subgroup, and sensitivity analyses were then conducted using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis v2.2 software. Wild-genotype ArgArg was considered as reference [odds ratio (OR) = 1.00]. Nine studies involving 1071 HNSCC cases were obtained. Meta-analysis results indicated no association between p53 Arg72Pro polymorphism and the risk of HPV-related HNSCC: for Pro/Pro vs. Arg/Arg, OR = 1.17, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.70-1.98; for Arg/Pro vs. Arg/Arg, OR = 1.25, 95% CI = 0.97-1.72; and for (Pro/Pro + Arg/Pro) vs. Arg/Arg, OR = 1.28, 95% CI = 0.95-1.70. These meta-analysis results were supported by subgroup and sensitivity analysis results. In conclusions, p53 Arg72Pro polymorphism is a potential marker of HP infection-related HNSCC rather than a susceptibility gene polymorphism.
The purpose of this study was to synthesize and interpret the findings of previous qualitative studies that investigated the lived experiences of Korean emerging adults who aged out of the foster care system. Based on our selection criteria, we extracted and analyzed 14 papers that were published between 2010 to 2023. Our meta-synthesis found that the emerging adults' life world consisted of seven domains: family experience, life tasks, education and work, financial issues, home and family, interpersonal relationships, and psychological and emotional issues. We restructured the emerging adults' lived experiences using van Manen's concepts of lived time, lived space, lived things, lived self-other, and lived body. Our meta-synthesis revealed that these emerging adults experienced multidimensional difficulties due to shortcomings of formal and informal social support after aging out of the foster care system. Their difficulties accumulated in their interaction with lived time. Based on the level of their accumulated difficulties, we categorized the emerging adults into stable, struggling, and isolated groups. However, it is important to note that many of them adapted to their own life world and strived to move forward. This qualitative meta-synthesis provides a comprehensive understanding and new interpretation of emerging adults who transition from foster care to independent living in the context of Korea.
We generated gene expression data from the tissues of 50 gastric cancer patients, and applied meta-analysis and gene set analysis to this data and three other stomach cancer gene expression data sets to define the gene expression changes in gastric tumors. By meta-analysis we identified genes consistently changed in gastric carcinomas, while gene set analysis revealed consistently changed biological themes. Genes and gene sets involved in digestion, fatty acid metabolism, and ion transport were consistently down-regulated in gastric carcinomas, while those involved in cellular proliferation, cell cycle, and DNA replication were consistently up-regulated. We also found significant differences between the genes and gene sets expressed in diffuse and intestinal type gastric carcinoma. By gene set analysis of cytogenetic bands, we identified many chromosomal regions with possible gross chromosomal changes (amplifications or deletions). Similar analysis of transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs), revealed transcription factors that may have caused the observed gene expression changes in gastric carcinomas, and we confirmed the overexpression of one of these, E2F1, in many gastric carcinomas by tissue array and immunohistochemistry. We have incorporated the results of our meta- and gene set analyses into a web accessible database (http://human-genome.kribb.re.kr/stomach/).
Objectives: The effectiveness and efficiency of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in reducing the transmission of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) among men who have sex with men (MSM) relies on how widely it is adopted and adhered to, particularly among high-risk groups of MSM. The meta-analysis aimed to collect and analyze existing evidence on various factors related to PrEP adherence in MSM, including demographic characteristics, sexual behaviors, substance use, and psychosocial factors. Methods: The meta-analysis followed the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. The search included articles published between January 2018 and December 2022, obtained from the PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Scopus databases. The studies that were included in the analysis reported the proportion of MSM who demonstrated adherence to PrEP and underwent quality appraisal using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Results: Of the 268 studies initially identified, only 12 met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final meta-analysis. The findings indicated that education (odds ratio [OR], 1.64; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.12 to 2.40), number of sexual partners (OR, 1.16; 95% CI, 1.02 to 1.31), engaging in sexual activities with an human immunodeficiency virus-positive partner (OR, 1.59; 95% CI, 1.16 to 2.26), substance use (OR, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.70 to 0.99), and lower levels of depression (OR, 0.55; 95% CI, 0.37 to 0.82) were associated with higher rates of PrEP adherence among MSM. Conclusions: Despite these findings, further research is necessary to investigate PrEP adherence more comprehensively. The findings of this meta-analysis can be utilized to inform interventions aimed at improving PrEP adherence among MSM and provide directions for future research in this area.
