Meta's Metaverse Platform Design in the Pre-launch and Ignition Life Stage

  • We look at the initial stage of Meta (previous Facebook)'s new metaverse platform and investigate its platform design in pre-launch and ignition life stage. From the Rocket Model (RM)'s theoretical logic, the results reveal that Meta firstly focuses on investing in key content developers by acquiring virtual reality (VR), video, music content firms and offering production support platform of the augmented reality (AR) content, 'Spark AR' last three years (2019~2021) for attracting high-potential developers and users. In terms of three matching criteria, Meta develops an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered translation software, partners with Microsoft (MS) for cloud computing and AI, and develops an AI platform for realistic avatar, MyoSuite. In 'connect' function, Meta curates the game concept submitted by game developers, welcomes other game and SNS based metaverse apps, and expands Horizon Worlds (HW) on VR devices to PCs and mobile devices. In 'transact' function, Meta offers 'HW Creator Funding' program for metaverse, launches the first commercialized Meta Avatar Store on Meta's conventional SNS and Messaging apps by inviting all fashion creators to design and sell clothing in this store. Mata also launches an initial test of non-fungible token (NFT) display on Instagram and expands it to Facebook in the US. Lastly, regarding optimization, especially in the face of recent data privacy issues that have adversely affected corporate key performance indicators (KPIs), Meta assures not to collect any new data and to make its privacy policy easier to understand and update its terms of service more user friendly.

Bass 모형을 이용한 인터넷에서의 기술 확산에 대한 실증분석 (An Empirical Study of Technology Diffusion on the Internet using Bass Model)

  • The Internet possesses not only features of mass media but also features of word of mouth communication. Communication channel is considered as one of most important variables in diffusion process. In this paper, we examined functionality of technology diffusion on the Internet through the use of meta tags. We have measured the coefficients of the Bass diffusion model which has been well-established in new product diffusion. This research shows that the Bass model is appropriate for describing technology diffusion on the Internet. The external influence as represented by the coefficient of innovation was found to be much smaller while the internal influence dominates in all meta tag diffusion. In meta tag diffusion, the internal influence as represented by the coefficient of imitation was increased at least twice bigger than that of consumer durables and information technology. Collecting necessary data in social sciences research can be a burden. This research shows that it can be alleviated through the use of software agents over the Internet. The research made use of software agents for collecting longitudinal data from publicly accessible archive such as Archive.org.

  • Recently, the use of antibiotics to improve animal productivity in livestock industry was strictly restricted. For these reason, probiotics have been regarded as one of promising materials for an antibiotic alternative. In this study, we investigated how the probiotics influences on the performance of broiler chicken via meta-analysis. Eighteen researches from 1997 to 2010 were used for meta-analysis. The standard summary effects were calculated via fixed effect model and random effect model (Borenstein et al., 2009). Heterogeneity was calculated by using the Cochran's Q statistics (Kook et al., 2009) and publication bias was calculated via Egger's regression (Lee et al., 2011). In fixed model average daily gain, body weight serum protein content and cecal LAB showed positive effect significantly. Feed intake, feed/gain and serum cholesterol showed significant negative effect. In serum triglyceride, negative effect was found but significance was not shown. In random model, average daily gain body weight and cecal LAB showed positive effects with significance and feed/gain and serum cholesterol represented significant negative effects. Publication bias was found only in feed/gain.

XML 스키마 메타모델에서 OCL 생성 (Generate of OCL on XML Sechma Meta Model)

  • XML이 인터넷에서 정보전송을 위한 메타언어의 표현방법으로 급속하게 이용되고 있다. 아울러 XML 스키마는 XML 데이터의 다양한 유형을 표현하는데 사용하는 빈도수가 늘고 있다. 본 논문에서는 UML을 이용한 XML 스키마의 simpleType형 메타모델에 대한 설계를 하였다. 그러나 XML 스키마의 구조가 복잡하고 다양한 데이터의 유형을 지원하기 때문에 UML에서 나타내고 있는 모델의 속성에 대한 사용자의 이해와 적용에 어려운 부분이 많이 발생하는 것을 알 수 있다. 이를 해결하는 방법으로 본 연구에서는 OCL의 기능을 적용하여 XML 스키마 메타모델에서 구조적인 표현을 명확하게 명시할 수 있도록 하였으며, 아울러 이를 바탕으로 컴파일단계에서 어휘분석과 구문분석을 위한 파스트리와 토큰생성에 대한 구체적인 설계방법을 제시하였다.

Effect of Aflatoxin on Feed Conversion Ratio in Broilers: A Meta-analysis

  • Aflatoxins are natural contaminants of poultry feeds and feed ingredients and cause liver damage, immunosuppression, reduction in performance and mortality in broilers. A number of studies have been carried out to study the effects of aflatoxin on feed conversion ratio in broilers. The results on feed conversion ratio of 10 research articles in broilers fed with aflatoxin from first day of age to six weeks of age were compiled and were subjected to meta-analysis. Chi-square test and $Tau^2$ (heterogeneity co-efficient) were applied to test for significance of heterogeneity of studies. To integrate results, fixed effect model by Inverse Variance method (IV method) was used when heterogeneity was insignificant and otherwise random effect model by DerSimonian and Laird Method (DL method) was used. The results of meta-analysis showed that the adverse effect of aflatoxin on feed conversion ratio at the end of first week was negligible, second week was medium and third to six weeks was very large.

산업용 음성 DB를 위한 XML 기반 메타데이터 (XML Based Meta-data Specification for Industrial Speech Databases)

  • In this paper, we propose an XML based meta-data specification for industrial speech databases. Building speech databases is very time-consuming and expensive. Recently, by the government supports, huge amount of speech corpus has been collected as speech databases. However, the formats and meta-data for speech databases are different depending on the constructing institutions. In order to advance the reusability and portability of speech databases, a standard representation scheme should be adopted by all speech database construction institutions. ETRI proposed a XML based annotation scheme [51 for speech databases, but the scheme has too simple and flat modeling structure, and may cause duplicated information. In order to overcome such disadvantages in this previous scheme, we first define the speech database more formally and then identify object appearing in speech databases. We then design the data model for speech databases in an object-oriented way. Based on the designed data model, we develop the meta-data specification for industrial speech databases.

SULT1A1 Arg213His Polymorphism and Lung Cancer Risk: a Meta-analysis

  • Background: The SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism is reported to be associated with lung cancer risk. However, this relationship remains controversial. For better understanding a meta-analysis was therefore performed. Methods: An extensive search was performed to identify all case-control studies investigating association between SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism and lung cancer risk. The strength was assessed by odds ratio (OR) with the corresponding 95% confidence interval (95%CI). Results: A total of five publications covering 1,669 cases and 1,890 controls were included in this meta-analysis. No significant association between SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism and lung cancer risk was observed in overall comparisons in all genetic models (dominant model: OR=1.33, 95%CI=1.00-1.76, P=0.05; additive model: OR=1.30, 95%CI=0.93-1.81, P=0.12; recessive model: OR=1.21, 95%CI=0.89-1.66, P=0.23). However, on subgroup analysis, an elevated risk in mixed populations with variant His allele was revealed in the dominant model (OR=1.66, 95% CI=1.06-2.62, P=0.03). Furthermore, the SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism was associated with an increased risk of lung cancer in both females and males in the dominant model (females: OR=1.72, 95%CI=1.29-2.27, P=0.00; males: OR=1.46, 95%CI=1.19-1.78, P=0.00). No significant association between this polymorphism and different smoking status (smokers and non-smokers) and the other ethnicities (Asians and Caucasians) was shown. Conclusions: The results of this meta-analysis indicate that the SULT1A1 Arg213His polymorphism is not associated with lung cancer risk in Asians and Caucasians, but possible elevation for genotype (GA/AA) in mixed populations and males and females needs further investigation.

Meta Frontier를 이용한 국내 IT서비스기업의 효율성 분석 및 Tobit 모형을 이용한 효율성 결정요인 분석에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Efficiency Analysis of IT Service Companies Using Meta Frontier and the Determinants of Efficiency Using Tobit Model)

  • This study analyzes 45 Korea IT service companies from 2012 to 2016 using DEA analysis. Large enterprises, medium enterprises and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). CCR model and BCC model were used for efficiency analysis. Among the various analytical objects, the decision objects which yield the maximum output with minimum input are compared with other analysis objects. The relative inefficiency was measured through this, and Technical Efficiency (TE), Pure Technology Efficiency (PTE), Scale Efficiency (SE), scale profit, reference frequency were analyzed. Also, we analyzed the Technology Gap Ratio (TGR), which is the distance between production function and Meta-Frontier for each firm, using Meta-Frontier analysis. Finally, the Tobit model is used to analyze the sources of efficiency and inefficiency. The inputs are assets, capital, and employees, and the output factor is sales. The analysis shows that large firms are achieving technological achievements more efficiently than small and medium enterprises. As a result, medium-sized enterprises and SMEs can improve efficiency overall through efficient operation of workforce and appropriate combination of inputs such as assets and capital. Also, as a result of the influence factor analysis, it was found that the ratio of the managed asset ratio and the management cost ratio were significant factors influencing the efficiency of the IT service companies. This study suggests the efficiency analysis using DEA for many Korea IT service companies. Inefficient parts of each company are classified according to size and technology. Also, we identify the most efficient companies and analyze the causes of those companies whose profits are lower than their size.

안전중시 시스템의 모델기반 설계에서 메타모델을 활용한 기능 고장의 탐지 및 안전 요구사항 검증 (Detection of Functional Failure and Verification of Safety Requirements Using Meta-Models in the Model-Based Design of Safety-Critical Systems)

  • 사용자의 요구사항 증대와 기술의 발전으로 인해 현대 시스템은 계속해서 복잡해지고 있어 시스템 설계 오류 및 고장 등으로 인한 시스템 운용 중의 사고도 빈번해지고 있다. 특히 사고로 인한 인적 및 물적 피해가 심각할 수 있는 시스템을 안전중시 시스템이라고 부른다. 이러한 시스템에 대해서는 안전성을 확보하기 위한 특별한 노력이 필요한데 이에 부응하여 본 논문에서는 개발 초기 단계부터 안전성을 반영하면서 시스템 설계를 수행할 수 있는 방법을 연구하였다. 특히 안전 메타모델을 활용해서 기능의 고장 탐지를 수행할 수 있는 시스템 설계 방법을 제시하였다. 구체적으로 국제 안전 표준들을 참고하여 안전 데이터를 추출하고, 시스템 모델링 표준 언어인 SysML을 이용하여 안전 데이터 메타모델을 생성한 후, 시스템 설계에서 안전 데이터 메타모델을 효과적으로 활용하는 모델 기반 안전 시스템 설계 방법을 제시하였고, 이를 기반으로 안전요구사항 생성 및 시뮬레이션 방법에 관하여 논의하였다. 마지막으로 사례연구로서 자동차 시스템 설계에서 SysML 기반 모델링 및 시뮬레이션을 통해 기능 고장의 탐지나 안전 요구사항의 검증이 가능한 것을 보여 주었다. 본 연구에서 안전 데이터에 대한 메타모델의 활용을 통해 안전 데이터 및 정보의 구성 및 관리를 효율적으로 수행할 수 있는 것과, 메타모델 기반 시스템 설계와 시뮬레이션을 활용하여 설계 오류를 줄임으로써 요구사항에 맞는 시스템 설계를 할 수 있음을 제시하였다.
