Background: Stroke patients have multiple disorders, but most have problems with balance and gait. Post-stroke rehabilitation exercise has been shown to be very important for functional recovery. Objectives: To systematically review and meta-analyze the effects of sling exercise (SE) on patients with stroke in studies published in Korea. Design: Meta-analysis. Methods: Five databases, namely, RISS, KISS, NDSL, DBpia and Earticle, were used to collect articles on vibration. Keywords such as "Stroke," "Hemiplegia," "Sling," and "Sling Exercise" were used in the search for published articles. Interventions and comparisons were SE and other exercise (OE). Outcome measures were berg balance scale (BBS) and timed up and go (TUG). Consequently, eight studies were selected in the second screening using meta-analyses. Results: Based on the results of the meta-analysis, SE was effective for BBS in the comparison of SE and OE [2.71, 95% CI (1.42, 4.01)]. It was effective for TUG in the comparison of SE and OE [-1.89, 95% CI (-3.01, -0.77)]. Conclusion: Based on eight limited studies, SE improved BBS and TUG over OE, suggesting improved stroke balance and gait. Therefore, more studies and large-scale sample randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm clinical application.
In recent engineering, the designer has become more and more dependent on the computer simulations such as FEM (Finite Element Method) and BEM (Boundary Element Method). In order to optimize such implicit models more efficiently and reliably, the meta-modeling technique has been developed for solving such a complex problems combined with the DACE (Design and Analysis of Computer Experiments). It is widely used for exploring the engineer's design space and for building meta-models in order to facilitate an effective solution of multi-objective and multi-disciplinary optimization problems. Optimization of a train suspension is performed according to the minimization of forty-six responses that represent ten ride comforts, twelve derailment quotients, twelve unloading ratios, and twelve stabilities by using the Kriging meta-model of a train suspension. After each Kriging meta-model is constructed, multi-objective optimal solutions are achieved by using a nonlinear programming method called SQP (Sequential Quadratic Programming).

As the information and communications market goes more uncertain, foresight activities becomes more important. A number of foresight activities, such as trend analysis, have been used to predict customer needs. However previous studies tend to lack objectivity and systematization. In this study, we suggest a meta analysis methodology which combines both top-down and bottom-up approach in order to systematize the analysis process. Secondly, we applied this approach to ICT market to identify essential future technologies. Based on the result from the meta analysis, we have constructed the future technology roadmap.
Background: While many studies have concluded that local traffic density is positively associated with childhood leukemia, the results are inconsistent. We therefore performed a meta-analysis to assess the relationship between traffic density and the risk of childhood leukemia. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out using PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library from January 1979 to December 2013. We selected and assessed journal articles evaluating the relationship between local traffic density and the risk of leukemia in children. The analysis was carried out using STATA version 12.0. Results: A total of 11 articles, including 12 estimates of effect, were included in our meta-analysis. The summary effect size from the random-effects model, expressed as an odds ratio, was 1.03 (95% CI: 0.98-1.09, p=0.002). No significant association between traffic density and the risk of childhood leukemia was found. Similar conclusions were found on subgroup analysis. Conclusions: The results of our meta-analysis suggested no association between traffic density and the risk of childhood leukemia. This implies that living in close proximity to roads with heavy traffic may not increase the risk of childhood leukemia. However, further high-quality prospective trials are needed to support these results.

Recently, as the programming education has become essential in school, discussion of how to teach programming has been important. This study performed a meta-analysis of the effect size depending on the teaching and learning method for the programming education. 78 research data selected from 45 papers were analyzed from cognitive and affective aspects according to dependent variables. The analysis from the cognitive aspect showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the effect size depending on whether or not the teaching and learning method was specified in the research paper. Meta-analysis of the research data where the teaching and learning method was designated displayed significances in CPS, PBL and Storytelling. Unlike the cognitive aspect, the analysis from the affective aspect showed that the effect size of the research data without the specified teaching and learning method was larger than those with specified teaching and learning method with a statistical significance. Meta-analysis of the data according to the teaching and learning method displayed no statistical significance. Based upon these research results, this study suggested implications for the effective programming education.

Since the mathematics learning achievement level is closely related to problem-solving ability, it is necessary to understand the relationship between problem-solving ability and meta-affect ability from the point of view of general mathematics learning ability. In this study, we compared the frequency analysis and the case analysis of the functional aspects of the meta-affect in elementary school students' problem-solving processes according to mathematics learning achievement level in parallel with frequency analysis and case analysis. In other words, the frequency of occurrence of meta-affect, the frequency of meta-affective type, and the frequency of meta-functional types of meta-affect were compared and analyzed according to the mathematics learning achievement level in the collaborative problem-solving activities of small group members with similar mathematics learning achievement level. In addition, we analyzed the representative cases of meta-affect by meta-functional types according to the mathematics learning achievement level in detail. As a result, meta-affect in problem-solving processes of the upper level group acted as relatively various types of meta-functions compared to the lower level group. And, the lower level group, the more affective factors acted in the problem-solving processes.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how and which meta tags are used, which meta tags are used frequently, and what relationships there are between retrieval of WWW documents and meta tags. For the study, 1,000 WWW documents were selected and examined from OCLC NetFirst. The total of 92 meta tags was discovered and "description" and "keywords"meta tags were analyzed intensively. In addition, analysis of WWW documents showed that there are no significant relationships in meta tag usages between documents retrieved at the beginning and documents retrieved at the end. Comparative study between general internet search engines and commercial DBs such as NetFirst is suggested as a further study.
Although research using meta-analysis is increasing in the field of rehabilitation science, not all meta-analytical papers are of the same quality. In particular, although meta-analysis is a research method with the highest level of evidence, it may be possible to derive distorted conclusions or alternatives by simply integrating representative values without considering heterogeneity among individual studies. This study analyzed the current status of meta-analysis papers on the subject of language arbitration published in Korea from January 2010 to June 2019, and used A Measurement Tool to Assess the Methodological Quality of Systematic Review (AMSTAR). As a result of evaluating the methodological quality of the final five papers, the average of 7.4 points out of 11 points was found above average. In order to raise the qualitative level of Meta-analysis in speech-language pathology in the future, it is necessary to include verification of publication bias and specification of conflicts of interest.

Researchers are continuously trying to find innovative diagnostic tests and published articles are accumulating at an enormous rate in many medical fields. Meta-analysis enables previously published study results to be reviewed and summarized; therefore, an objective assessment of diagnostic tests can be done with a meta-analysis of sensitivities and specificities. Data obtained by applying two diagnostic tests to a well-defined group of diseased patients produce a pair of sensitivity and by applying the same medical tests to a group of non-diseased subjects produce a pair of specificity. The statistical tests in the meta-analysis need to consider the correlatedness of the results from two diagnostic tests applied to the same diseased and non-diseased subjects. The associations between two diagnostic test results are often found to be unequal for the diseased and non-diseased subjects. In this paper, multivariate meta-analytic methods are studied by taking into account the different associations between correlated variables. On the basis of Monte Carlo simulations, we evaluate the performance of the multivariate meta-analysis methods proposed in this paper.
