  • DTNs (Delay Tolerant Networks) refer to the networks that can support data transmission in the extreme networking situations such as continuous delay and no connectivity between ends. DTMNs (Delay Tolerant Networks) are a specific range of DTNs, and its chief considerations in the process of message delivery in the routing protocol are the transmission delay, improvement of reliability, and reduction of network loading. This article proposes a new LCN (Largest Common Neighbor) routing algorism to improve Spray and Wait routing protocol that prevents the generation of unnecessary packets in a network by letting mobile nodes limit the number of copies of their messages to all nodes to L. Since higher L is distributed to nodes with directivity to the destination node and the maximum number of common neighbor nodes among the mobile nodes based on the directivity information of each node and the maximum number of common neighbor nodes, more efficient node transmission can be realized. In order to verify this proposed algorism, DTN simulator was designed by using ONE simulator. According to the result of this simulation, the suggested algorism can reduce average delay and unnecessary message generation.

  • The social networking service (SNS) is free, but the data usage fee paid to the telecommunications company and the member's information must be provided directly or indirectly. In addition, while SNS' specifications for transmitting and receiving devices such as smart-phones and PCs are increasing day by day, using universal transmission protocols in special environments such as contaminated areas or semiconductor manufacturing plants where work instructions are mainly made using short messages is not easy. It is not free and has a problem of weak security. This paper verified the practicality through the operation test by implementing IMCP, a low-power, low-cost message transmission protocol that aims to be wearable in special environments such as risk, pollution, and clean zone based on ATmega128.

  • In this paper, we propose an allocation scheme for variable message packings to increase efficiency of military operation using Link-16 which is well-known for tactical data link by delivering imagery information rapidly. We propose a variable message packing scheme using COC waveform to support variable data rate under some coverage limitation. Variety of message packing makes Link-16 vary transmission rate appropriately for tactical environment. We also propose a allocation scheme to assign message packing to time slot properly. Finally we verify the performance and superiority of proposed ideas by simulations.

  • In this paper, a performance evaluation method for the Trunked Land Mobile Radio System, so called TRS(Trunked Radio System), is presented. The proposed evaluation method employs LCD(Lost Call Delayed) system model and Erlang-C distribution. In this system, queues are used to hold call requests that are initally blocked. When a user attempts a call and a channel is not immediately available, the call request may be delayed until a channel becomes available. For evaluating system performance, therefore, the probability that any caller is delayed in the queue for a waiting time greater than t seconds is derived and simulated by using such parameters as total number of available channels, traffic load and average duration of a call. Furthermore, the performance of the message and the transmission trunked channel assignment strategies is compared. The performance simulation results show that transmission trunking is shown to be more efficient than message trunking.

  • In a multi-channel network based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), an efficient protocol is needed for transmitter and receiver to be tuned to same wavelength during message transmission time. This paper proposes a message scheduling protocol that can efficiently support variable-sized messages, where tunable transceiver has nonzero tuning time. In this protocol, once a node reserves one data channel, it can persistently use the reserved channel till message transmission is finished. Therefore, overhead due to tuning time of the tunable transceiver can be reduced. Moreover, the protocol does not require any global information. Therefore, it can operate independently of the change of the number of nodes, and any new node can join the network at anytime without requiring network initialization. With this protocol, one can avoid data channel and destination conflicts. The protocol is analyzed with a finite population model and the throughput-delay characteristics are investigated as performance measures.

  • This paper proposes and analyzes an error control scheme which tries to recover the transmission error within the deadline of a message on FDDI networks. The error control procedure does not interfere other normal message transmissions by delivering retransmission request via asynchronous traffic as well as by delivering retarnsmitted message via overallocated bandwidth which is inevitably produced by the bandwidth allocation scheme for hard real-time guarantee. The receiver counts the number of tokens which it meets, determines the completion of message transmission, and finally sends error report. The analysis results along with simulation performed via SMPL show that the proposed scheme is able to enhance the deadline meet ratio of messages by overcoming the network errors. Using the proposed error control scheme, the hard real-time network can be built at cost lower than, but performacne comparable to the dual link network.

  • VANET has several different characteristics from MANET such as high mobility of nodes and frequent change of node density and network topology. Due to these characteristics, the network topology based protocol, often used in MANET, can not be applied to VANET. In this paper, we propose an emergency warning message broadcast protocol using range based relay node selecting algorithm which determines the minimal waiting time spent by a given node before rebroadcasting the received warning message. Because the time is randomly calculated based on the distance between sender node and receiver node, a node chosen as a relay node is assured to have a minimal waiting time, even though it is not located at the border of radio transmission range. The proposed emergency warning message broadcast protocol has low network traffic because it does not need to exchange control messages for message broadcasting. In addition, it can reduce End-to-End delay under circumstances of low node density and short transmission range in VANET.

  • Communication infrastructure of wireless sensor networks significantly tends to depend on application requirements. Gossip communication is becoming one of the promising solutions for addressing its scalability problems in providing information propagation functionality based on the P (publish)/S (subscribe) paradigm. In particular, despite the importance of both guaranteeing message delivery order required and supporting overlapping groups in sensor networks, there exist little research works on development of gossip-style dissemination protocols to satisfy all these requirements. In this paper, we present the latest causal information transmission protocol between publishers and subscribers for overlapping groups. In this protocol, sensor leaders as publishers might guarantee consistently causally ordered message delivery among themselves by aggregating causality information. On the other hand, only the latest causal information piggybacked on each multicast message is transmitted from publishers to subscribers through gossip-style dissemination. Its scalability feature might be highly suitable for the area of the applications requiring only the minimum meaningful information.

  • This paper has proposed Hybrid QoS Routing Link State Update(LSU) Algorithm that has had a both advantage of LSU message control in periodic QoS routing LSU algorithm and QoS routing performance in adaptive LSU algorithm. Hybrid LSU algorithm can adapt the threshold based network traffic information and has the mechanism that calculate LSU message transmission priority using the flow of statistical request bandwidth and available bandwidth and determine the transmission of the message according to update rate per a unit of time. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithms on MCI simulation network using the performance metric as the QoS routing blocking rate and the mean update rate per link, it thus appears that we have verified the performance of this algorithm that it can diminish to 10% of the LSU message count.
