The boundary evaluation technique for Boolean operation on non-manifold models which is regarded as the most popular and powerful method to create and modify 3-D CAD models has been developed. This technique adopted the concept of Merge and Selection in which the CSG tree for Boolean operation can be edited quickly and easily. In this method, the merged set which contains complete information about primitive models involved is created by merging primitives one by one, then the alive entities are selected following the given CSG tree. This technique can support the hybrid representation of B-rep(Boundary Representation) and CSG(Constructive Solid Geometry) tree in a unified non-manifold model data structure, and expected to be used as a basic method for many modeling problems such as data representation of form features, and the interference between them, and data representation of conceptual models in design process, etc.
Flash memory based storage has been used in various mobile systems and now is to be used in Laptop computers in the name of Solid State Disk. The Flash memory has not only merits in terms of weight, shock resistance, and power consumption but also limitations like erase-before-write property. To overcome these limitations, Flash memory based storage requires special address mapping software called FTL(Flash-memory Translation Layer), which often performs merge operation for block recycling. In order to reduce block recycling cost in NAND Flash memory based storage, we introduce another block recycling scheme which we call migration. As a result, the FTL can select either merge or migration depending on their costs for each block recycling. Experimental results with Postmark benchmark and embedded system workload show that this cost-based selection of migration/merge operation improves the performance of Flash memory based storage. Also, we present a solution of macroscopic optimal migration/merge sequence that minimizes a block recycling cost for each migration/merge combination period. Experimental results show that the performance of Flash memory based storage can be more improved by the macroscopic optimization than the simple cost-based selection.

With device-to-device (D2D) communications, an inactive user terminal can be utilized as a relay node to support multi-hop communication so that connective experience of the cell-edge user as well as the capacity of the whole system can be significantly improved. In this paper, we investigate the spectrum sharing for a cooperative relay assisted D2D communication underlying a cellular network. We formulate a joint relay selection and channel assignment problem to maximize the throughput of the system while guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) requirements of cellular users (CUs) and D2D users (DUs). By exploiting coalition formation game theory, we propose two algorithms to solve the problem. The first algorithm is designed based on merge and split rules while the second one is developed based on single user's movement. Both of them are proved to be stable and convergent. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms.
Various anatomical MRI imaging biomarkers for Alzheimer's Disease (AD) identification have been recognized so far. Cortical and subcortical volume, hippocampal, amygdala volume, and genetics patterns have been utilized successfully to diagnose AD patients from healthy. These fundamental sMRI bio-measures have been utilized frequently and independently. The entire possibility of anatomical MRI imaging measures for AD diagnosis might thus still to analyze fully. Thus, in this paper, we merge different structural MRI imaging biomarkers to intensify diagnostic classification and analysis of Alzheimer's. For 54 clinically pronounce Alzheimer's patients, 58 cognitively healthy controls, and 99 Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI); we calculated 1. Cortical and subcortical features, 2. The hippocampal subfield, amygdala nuclei volume using Freesurfer (6.0.0) and 3. Genetics (APoE ε4) biomarkers were obtained from the ADNI database. These three measures were first applied separately and then combined to predict the AD. After feature combination, we utilize the sequential feature selection [SFS (wrapper)] method to select the top-ranked features vectors and feed them into the Multi-Kernel SVM for classification. This diagnostic classification algorithm yields 94.33% of accuracy, 95.40% of sensitivity, 96.50% of specificity with 94.30% of AUC for AD/HC; for AD/MCI propose method obtained 85.58% of accuracy, 95.73% of sensitivity, and 87.30% of specificity along with 91.48% of AUC. Similarly, for HC/MCI, we obtained 89.77% of accuracy, 96.15% of sensitivity, and 87.35% of specificity with 92.55% of AUC. We also presented the performance comparison of the proposed method with KNN classifiers.
A rule based system for foundation design of building structures is developed with CLIPS in this study. The types of foundation and the allowable bearing capacity of supporting soil inferred by the rule based system for selection of foundation type, called SOFTEX, are transferred to a structural design program for building foundation. The allowable bearing capacity is calculated with N values of Standard Penetration Test. The foundation types such as independent spread footing, wall footing, combined footing and mat foundation can be inferred by the foundation merge procedure developed in this study. This procedure is based on the analysis data from the super structure and the estimated bearing capacity. By using this integrated system, structural engineers with less experience in foundation design can design the foundation system for the given superstructure and the site condition with relative ease.

The operation Move is defined in Chomsky (1999, 2000) as a composite operation consisting of three components: Agree, Identify and Merge, taking Agree as a necessary condition for Move. Therefore, I call this definition of Move as the Agree-based Move. In this paper, I argue that the Agree-based approach to Move cannot be maintained; I claim that the Selection-based approach to Move, in which the EPP-feature is analyzed as an s-selectional property of a head, offers a more natural account of the sentences under consideration. I believe that the three components of Move as defined in (6) happen to co-occur in the derivation of certain sentences, as the composite transformation called Passivization does in the derivation of a passive sentence like “the city was destroyed by the enemy.” On the basis of these observations, I conclude that Agree and Move should be regarded as separate computational operations; the task of Agree is to erase uninterpretable features of both probe and goal, and that of Move is to satisfy the EPP-feature, which should be taken as an s-selectional feature.

Gwangju Airport and Muan International Airport are planned to merge in 2021 while the aviation market is suffering an unprecedented prolonged crisis due to COVID-19 and therefore it is necessary to revitalize the airport to keep up with the passenger's demands. The study conducts an empirical research survey on the passengers of both airports regarding the importance, satisfaction, and overall satisfaction to derive a strategic marketing direction. The results show that to establish a strategic marketing direction, an urgent improvement is required for all "Commercial Facility and Diversity," "Rest Facility and Comfort," "Facilities for the Transportation Vulnerable," "Latest Facility" factors, and "Air Route Diversity." On the other hand, it is required to stop further investing and improving in "Publicity and Marketing" and "Flight Schedule". The results of this study demonstrate academic and practical importance through the comparison of two IPA models, based on Gwangju Airport and Muan International Airport before their integration, to provide substantive and meaningful marketing strategies.
Many studies have investigated the smart grid architecture and communication models in the past few years. However, the communication model and architecture for a smart grid still remain unclear. Today's electric power distribution is very complex and maladapted because of the lack of efficient and cost-effective energy generation, distribution, and consumption management systems. A wireless smart grid communication system can play an important role in achieving these goals. In this paper, we describe a smart grid communication architecture in which we merge customers and distributors into a single domain. In the proposed architecture, all the home area networks, neighborhood area networks, and local electrical equipment form a local wireless mesh network (LWMN). Each device or meter can act as a source, router, or relay. The data generated in any node (device/meter) reaches the data collector via other nodes. The data collector transmits this data via the access point of a wide area network (WAN). Finally, data is transferred to the service provider or to the control center of the smart grid. We propose a wireless cooperative communication model for the LWMN.We deploy a limited number of smart relays to improve the performance of the network. A novel relay selection mechanism is also proposed to reduce the relay selection overhead. Simulation results show that our cooperative smart grid (coopSG) communication model improves the end-to-end packet delivery latency, throughput, and energy efficiency over both the Wang et al. and Niyato et al. models.
In this paper, we present several confidence measures (CM) for speech recognition systems to evaluate the reliability of recognition results. We propose heuristic CMs such as mean log-likelihood score, N-best word log-likelihood ratio, likelihood sequence fluctuation and likelihood ratio testing(LRT)-based CMs using several types of anti-models. Furthermore, we propose new algorithms to add weighting terms on phone-level log-likelihood ratio to merge word-level log-likelihood ratios. These weighting terms are computed from the distance between acoustic models and knowledge-based phoneme classifications. LRT-based CMs show better performance than heuristic CMs excessively, and LRT-based CMs using phonetic information show that the relative reduction in equal error rate ranges between $8{\sim}13%$ compared to the baseline LRT-based CMs. We use the support vector machine to fuse several CMs and improve the performance of utterance verification. From our experiments, we know that selection of CMs with low correlation is more effective than CMs with high correlation.

In this paper, we propose a new approach for the reduction of the dynamic false contours, which detects and compensates false contour artifacts adaptively. First, we develop a simple but effective method to select the pixels that are likely to cause the motion artifacts, based on the distribution of pixel values. Then, we merge the selected pixels into several regions using tree structure. Next, we reduce number of gray levels within the regions slightly to reduce the false contours. Note that reducing number of gray levels yield the distortion, thus it is applied only to the selected regions, instead of the whole picture. Intensive simulations on real moving image show that the proposed algorithm alleviates the dynamic false contours effectively with tolerable computational complexity.
