조종성지수에 의한 충돌회피동작의 양적 파악에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Quantative Analysis of a Ship's Collision Avoding Action by Using the Maneuvering Indices)

  • The Maneuvering Indices of a ship are the values that decide the quantity of her motion in turning when her rudder is turned over to an angle to the starboard or the port. They consist of two kinds of indices, one of which is called index K and the other, index T. Index K decides a ship's turning ability and index T does the length of time delay of a normal turning motion after her rudder has finished the turn of an ordered angle. Generally, the values of the indices are calculated through some mathematic formulas with figures of her heading degrees recorded at a fixed time intervals during her Z test. The values of the same kind index of a ship appear differently according to the ship'sspeed, trim, rudder angle and loaded condition, etc. In this paper, the author analyzed all the amthematic formulas required to calculate the values of the indices in their forming process and examined them from the point of mathematics and dynamics and also actually figured out the values of maneuvering indices of the M.S. "HANBADA", the training ship of Korea Merchant Marine College through her Z test. The author supposed a case in which two same typed ships as the "HANBADA" in size, shape and conditions were approaching each other in meeting end on situation and each ship turned her rudder hard over to the starboard respectively when they approached to the distance of 3 times as long as the ship's length. The author worked out mathematic formulas calculating forward and transverse ship's motions within the above mentioned situation for the quantative analysis of the collision avoding action to certify whether they are in collision status or not. Applying the calculated values of the maneuvering indices of the "HANBADA" to the motion calculating formulas, the author found out the two ships were passing over each other with the clearing distance o 39m between their port quarters. With the above mentioned examinations and explanations, the author demonstrated that a ship's motion in any collision avoiding action can be shown with quantities of time and distance within reliable limit.istance within reliable limit.

Computational analysis and design formula development for the design of curved plates for ships and offshore structures

  • In general, cylindrically curved plates are used in ships and offshore structures such as wind towers, spa structures, fore and aft side shell plating, and bilge circle parts in merchant vessels. In a number of studies, it has been shown that curvature increases the buckling strength of a plate under compressive loading, and the ultimate load-carrying capacity is also expected to increase. In the present paper, a series of elastic and elastoplastic large deflection analyses were performed using the commercial finite element analysis program (MSC.NASTRAN/PATRAN) in order to clarify and examine the fundamental buckling and collapse behaviors of curved plates subjected to combined axial compression and lateral pressure. On the basis of the numerical results, the effects of curvature, the magnitude of the initial deflection, the slenderness ratio, and the aspect ratio on the characteristics of the buckling and collapse behavior of the curved plates are discussed. On the basis of the calculated results, the design formula was developed to predict the buckling and ultimate strengths of curved plates subjected to combined loads in an analytical manner. The buckling strength behaviors were simulated by performing elastic large deflection analyses. The newly developed formulations were applied in order to perform verification analyses for the curved plates by comparing the numerical results, and then, the usefulness of the proposed method was demonstrated.

3D Digital Design 기법을 이용한 BWTS 설치 설계 연구 (A Study on Retrofitting BWTS using 3D Digital Design)

  • Over the past few years, as maritime trade and traffic were highly expanding, problem of invasive species via ballast water have been raised. In 1988, Canada and Australia had firstly experience that unexpected and hazardous species were observed on their own sea, they have issued the problem to MEPC under the IMO. At the end of many years of discussion, on the diplomatic conference in 13 Feb. 2004, "International Convention for the Control and Management of Ballast Water and Sediments of the Ship" was adopted. Requirements for entering into force of this Convention is that 30 countries ratify and world merchant marine fleet is more than 35% and BWM Convention will be effected after 12months from date satisfying conditions. With Finland ratifying the BWM Convention on 8 Sep. 2016, the fleet amounted to 35.1441% and ratification country became 52 countries. Therefore, after 12month, BWM Convention will be formally effected on 8 Sep. 2017. Ballast Water Treatment System is to be fitted in new ships as well as existing ships. Thus, there are concerns of ship owners to be suitably installed a variety typed BWTS in many kinds of vessels. As approaching for resolving these problems, engineering analysis was carried out research studies and detailed design to analyze to optimal installation space for retrofitting a BWTS using 3D Scanning method, targeting representative DWT 180K Bulk carrier of dry cargo vessels charged more 40% on worldwide vessel and mainly two type BWTS as electrolysis treatment type and ultra violet treatment type. Optimal design of 3D Scanning technology was applied to analyze four step process and the overall conclusion was described in this paper.

수치시뮬레이션기법을 이용한 거위목 벌브의 저항성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Resistance Performance of the Goose Neck Bulbous Bow by Numerical Simulation Method)

  • Bulbous bow is one of the important design factors on the design of fore-body hull form. Using the interference technique of ship waves, the bulbous bow can decrease the wave resistance of ship. Recently, the goose neck bulb is applied mainly for high speed vessels like passenger ships and ferries etc.. Also, the goose neck bulb is applied for relatively high speed merchant vessels like container ships and LNG carriers. However, existing research papers about the goose neck bulb are not enough as reference data for the design of bow hull form. In this study, numerical calculations are carried out to investigate the bow wave characteristics of a high speed ferry with a normal high nose bulb or a goose neck bulb. By comparing the pressure distributions on the hull surface and the wave systems near the bow, the features of wave resistance reduction are discussed. Also, Numerical calculations were carried out for a series of goose neck bulbs to figure out the optimum bulb size. The maximum reduction rate of pressure resistance for the fore-body is achievable up to 8% by adopting the goose neck bulb in the present calculation.

Assessment of the effect of biofilm on the ship hydrodynamic performance by performance prediction method

  • Biofouling represents an important problem in the shipping industry since it causes the increase in surface roughness. The most of ships in the current world fleet do not have good coating condition which represents an important problem due to strict rules regarding ship energy efficiency. Therefore, the importance of the control and management of the hull and propeller fouling is highlighted by the International Maritime Organization and the maintenance schedule optimization became valuable energy saving measure. For adequate implementation of this measure, the accurate prediction of the effects of biofouling on the hydrodynamic characteristics is required. Although computational fluid dynamics approach, based on the modified wall function approach, has imposed itself as one of the most promising tools for this prediction, it requires significant computational time. However, during the maintenance schedule optimization, it is important to rapidly predict the effect of biofouling on the ship hydrodynamic performance. In this paper, the effect of biofilm on the ship hydrodynamic performance is studied using the proposed performance prediction method for three merchant ships. The applicability of this method in the assessment of the effect of biofilm on the ship hydrodynamic performance is demonstrated by comparison of the obtained results using the proposed performance prediction method and computational fluid dynamics approach. The comparison has shown that the highest relative deviation is lower than 4.2% for all propulsion characteristics, lower than 1.5% for propeller rotation rate and lower than 5.2% for delivered power. Thus, a practical tool for the estimation of the effect of biofouling with lower fouling severity on the ship hydrodynamic performance is developed.

신경회로망을 적용한 직류배전시스템의 AFE 정류기 제어에 관한 연구 (Active Front End Rectifier Control of DC Distribution System Using Neural Network)

  • 선박으로부터 발생하는 배출가스에 대한 규제가 강화되고 이를 해결하기위한 대안으로 전기추진시스템의적용이 대형상선에서부터 중·소형선박에 이르기까지 그 사용이 증가되고있다. 전기추진시스템의 효율 향상을 위한 방법으로 발전원의 개선, 배터리·연료전지·태양광 등의 친환경 발전원의 시스템 연계 및 정류기, 전력변환장치, 추진전동기의 개발과 제어방식의 연구를 들 수 있다. 그 중 정류방식에 있어 상천이변압기과 다이오드를 이용하는 방식이 널리 사용되었으나, 직류배전을 이용한 친환경발전원의 계통 연계, 가변속 발전원의 사용, 중·소형 전기추진시스템의 적용을 통해 전력용 반도체 소자를 이용한 AFE정류기에 대한 수요가 증대되고 있다. 이러한 AFE 정류기를 제어하는 방식에 있어 기존의 비례적분제어기가 아닌 신경회로망을 이용한 방식을 본 연구에서는 제안하였다. 기존의 제어기 데이터를 활용하여 Matlab/Simulink를 통해 학습한 신경회로망제어기를 설계하고 PSIM을 통해 설계된 정류시스템에 신경회로망 제어기를 적용하여 부하변동에 따른 직류출력단의 파형과 역률 개선의 유효성을 확인하였다. 이는 공간이 협소한 중소형 친환경 선박의 정류시스템으로써 적용이 가능하다.

  • Recently the demand for natural gas as clean and safe energy due to concerns about global warming and interests in green ship is increasing. The dual fuel(DF) engine, one of environmentally friendly engines, is preferred for general merchant ships and power plants as well as LNG carriers. This is for the reasons of having higher efficiency and lower nitrogen and sulfur oxides emissions by operating on LNG fuel with a small amount of light fuel oil. In this study, the engine body vibration characteristics of 12V50DF in a generator set with engine-resilient-mounted, generator-rigid-mounted and flexible-coupling configuration are investigated through theoretical analysis and comprehensive vibration measurement. This analysis showed the dynamic behavior of engine excitation forces and seismic waves. And the suitable countermeasures for reducing vibration and safe operation are proposed.

관내 유속을 고려한 상선의 배기관용 소음기의 성능실험연구 (An experimental study on the performance of silencers for exhaust merchant ships considering air flow velocity)

  • 선박의 주기관 및 발전기의 실린더내의 폭발소음은 배기관을 통하여 연돌 상부에서 전파되어 인접한 거주구 상층부 및 bridge wing 등의 소음을 증가시키는 주 요인이 되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실제의 배기관인 400mm 및 600mm의 지름의 관에 대하여 0m/s 및 32m/s의 유속에 대하여 25dB 및 35dB silencer에 대하여 감음 성능을 실험하였다. 관내 유속은 축류 팬에 의하여 발생시켰고 실제 소음기(silencer)를 사용하여 감음 성능을 실측하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 선박 추진축계의 중간 축과 프로펠러 축 직경 변경시에 추진축계 고유진동특성을 효율적으로 산정하고, 선박 주기관 연속운항 금지구간 설정에 영향을 미치는 비틂공진점의 최적 설계를 도모할 수 있는 추진축계 종 비틂 연성 고유진동 감도해석방법을 제시하였다. 제시된 방법의 타당성과 효율성은 2척의 실선 추진축계을 대상으로 중간 축 프로펠러 축 직경에 대한 고유진동수 감도해석을 수행하여 검토하였다. 아울러, 선급 규정을 충족시키는 범위 안에서 중간축 및 프로펠러 축의 인장강도와 축경을 변화할 경우의 종 비틂 연성 고유진동수 변화량을 고찰하였다.

  • As increasing needs of marine transportation , world merchant fleet and ship's size were enlarged and it caused frequent disasters in human lives and natural environment. By the reason of the above, they started to establish the Vessel Traffic System (VTS) at the European coast in 1960' and most of advanced contries established and managed it to prevent the sea traffic accidents in these days. The concept of traffic control at sea can be divided into three types. First, the initial gathering of informations about ship's identity and movement etc.. Second, monitoring of the traffic flow and amendment of instructions. Third , organization and direction of ships by allocating routes and speeds. Where the goal of traffic control is safety of traffics and developing effectiveness of navigation channel, if traffic volume is less tan channel capacity then the above first or second level of control would be sufficient but if it is bigger than that , more positive policy of control should be adopted as same as third type of the above. In this paper where the strategy of VTS is focused on the control of traffic density to be spread equality, as possible , all over the navigation channels and also improvement of effectiveness , it suggests algorithm to assign the vessels to the channels with balanced traffic density , and other algorithms using D.P. to sequence the vessels assigned to one channel in optimum order which decreases the mean waiting time in sense of channel effectiveness with numerical examples.
