Objectives: This study aimed to investigate North Korean refugees' knowledge of mental illnesses and treatments and analyze the factors affecting this knowledge. Methods: Subjects were selected via a snowball sampling method, and the survey outcomes of 152 North Korean refugee participants were analyzed. The factors affecting knowledge of mental illnesses were analyzed via a regression analysis by constructing a multivariate model with mental illness knowledge score as the dependent variable. Results: The North Korean refugees' mental illness scores ranged from 3 to 24 points, with an average score of 13.0. Regarding the factors that influence mental illness knowledge, the subjects with South Korean spouses and those who had spent more time in South Korea had higher knowledge scores. Furthermore, the subjects who considered the mental health of North Korean refugees to be a serious issue revealed lower knowledge scores than those who did not believe it was a serious issue. The subjects who visit psychiatric clinics showed higher knowledge scores than those who do not. The South Korean subjects who had at least a college education exhibited higher scores than did those without advanced education. The subjects who are satisfied with life in South Korea manifested a higher mental illness knowledge score than those who are not. Conclusions: This study is significant as being the first study to ever measure and evaluate the level of North Korean refugees' knowledge of mental illnesses. In addition, the evaluations of North Korean refugees' mental illness knowledge and influencing factors while residing in South Korea created basic data that formed the foundation of an effort to enhance mental health literacy and provide proper mental health services. The results of this study can be utilized to solve mental health problems that might frequently occur during the unification process of North and South Korea in the future.

In light of the unprecedented occupational health and safety concerns that have been raised in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of seafarers' mental health has been significantly underlined. Despite the fact that there has been a significant amount of research on the psychological threats of seafarers' mental health, mutual cooperative actions on this issue have not been properly coordinated among seafarers' relevant bodies and stakeholders in APEC region. This paper introduces the APEC SEN's initiatives that have been undertaken to improve the mental health of seafarers, in collaboration with medical professionals, seafarers' unions, maritime administrations, and other stakeholders, through the development of training programmes and materials for both seafarers and modulators, resulting in a more effective approach to mental healthcare promotion.

The prevalence of stress and depression among emotional workers is increasing due to the rapid increase in emotional labor and service workers. However, the current mental health management of emotional workers is difficult to consider the emotional response at the time of stress situations, and the existing mental health management is limited because the individual's base state is not reflected. In this study, we present mental healthcare digital twin solution technology, a personalized stress risk management solution. For mental health risk management due to emotional labor, a solution simulation is performed to accurately predict stress risk through synchronization/modeling of dynamic objects in virtual space by extracting individual stress risk factors such as emotional/physical response and environment into various modalities. It provides a mental healthcare digital twin solution for predicting personalized mental health risks that can be configured with modalities and objects tailored to the environment of emotional workers and improved according to user feedback.

The aim of this research is to study and develop enabling technologies for home healthcare device with ubiquitous network. The motivation of this paper is to enable healthcare in home, to development the device for smart home health care. To achieve the aim, we must develop the prototype platform based on home gateways, distributed context user interface based on UPnP and support for information sharing with high speed power line communication and mobile infra-structures. And IPv6 is the base technology of this platform. In this paper, we concern that physical health, mental health and medical emergencies is all of home healthcare. With the smart device, we evaluate the connectivity, automatic information extraction and private data exchange and event driven message. The result of this paper is demonstration of smart device for ubiquitous communication in a healthcare application such as patient monitoring device and several information services. In conclusion, home healthcare will support more healthy and easy living for a human.

Even though the interest to the mental hospital is recently increased, the mental hospitals are not well developed due to the pending arrangement of the concept of returning to the society and the system of local communities. Also, the hospitalism due to the isolation of patients and the long term stay in hospitals has become an issue. Despite the present circumstances, the prototype of mental health care in many field are investigated and progressively fixed. This study attempts to examine the current status of domestic and foreign mental institution and to establish the design guideline of the wards of the mental hospitals.

Purpose: The Purpose of this study is to provide basic data for solving mental health problems of people with disabilities by analyzing the relationship between leisure activities and the mental health. Methods: We used the chi-square test and the logistic regression model to analyze the data of the National Survey of People with Disabilities in 2017. 6,437 responses of secondary processed data were used in the analysis, Socio-economic, health behaviors and risk variables that affect the mental health of people with Disabilities were used as control variables. Result: As a result of the analysis, People with disabilities who are satisfied with their leisure activities have less depression for two weeks and less suicidal impulses (Depression: [OR]=1.80 p-value<.0001, Suicide Impulse: [OR]=2.26 p-value<.0001). In the case of the experience of leisure activities, some significance was relevant to depression for two weeks (Depression: [OR]=1.65 p-value=0.0052). Conclusion: In order to improve mental health of people with disabilities, it is necessary to provide opportunities for participation in leisure activities by improving the socioeconomic status of them. In addition, a high quality leisure program should be provided that meets the individual's needs to increase the satisfaction of leisure activities for people with disabilities.

Objective We investigated how mental health awareness among North Korean refugees transformed depending on temporal-spatial context changes. Methods In 2013, we conducted interviews with 10 refugees (eight women) who had been in South Korea for over a year and performed a qualitative analysis of the change in mental health awareness in the differences between living in North Korea, escape (a related period of forced sojourn in a third country), and settlement in South Korea. Results We classified 39 concepts into five main categories. The first two categories (while living in North Korea) were "a mindset for the system, but not for individual mental health" and "being confined in a social environment that was indifferent to mental health." A third category appeared during escape: "focusing on survival amid continuity of intense suffering." The final two categories appeared when settling in South Korea: "recognition of mental health amid cultural shock" and "introspection and sorting oneself out." Conclusion This qualitative study enabled a better multi-dimensional understanding of the social and cultural aspects involved in improving mental health awareness among North Korean refugees in South Korea. It is desirable to integrate mental health as a part of daily life and to expand training for North Korean settlers.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide data on the basis for architectural planning of floor plan type and spatial composition by analysing standard mental health centers in Seoul. Methods: Data were collected through literature research, field surveys, and expert interviews to 22 standard mental health centers in Seoul. Results: The results of this study could be summarized as follows; Firstly, Mental Health Center is divided into five types according to the location. Location types of mental health center were 'Director type', 'Health center connection type', 'Public facilities connection type', 'Complex center connection type' and 'Commercial Facilities connection type'. Secondly, Depending on the type of management a mental health center is divided into two types. Types are 'Complex type' and 'Independent type'. Average area of 'Complex type' is $192.99m^2$ and 'Independent type' is $266.87m^2$. This difference affects the various spaces. Implications: It is necessary to give and architectural suggestion of mental health center in response to the proposal of the system.

Mental hospital has been expanding its function to psychiatric treatment in the meaning of therapy. Therefore systematic research on thr mental hospital is urgent. This study aims to prepare the basic data which are needed on planning and designing the mental hospital with emphasis on the wards, which take the largest area ratio and play a principal role to psychiatric patients. The process of study is to 1) to survey facility of Mental hospital in Korea, 2) to analize charactor and behavior of psychiatric patients 3) to suggest element of ideal ward in general hospital.

Purpose : The information of mental health facilities in Korean law is so unclear that people hardly enable to understand what sort of proper mental health service is prepared for them. Futhermore, there is not enough regulation and standard to classify each type of facilities in the law. Therefore the purpose of this study is to provide data on the basis for classification and facility standards by analysing Korean law and policies. Methods : This study was conducted by a research on law and regulation of mental health facility. Results : The result of this study can be summarized into three points. The first one, current law and policy do not reflect a change in community mental health services paradigm. The second one, the classified facility should be designed to fit the community mental health services. The third one, overall, it requires more detailed guidelines to enhance the quality of mental health services. Besides, the treatment as well as the function of the prevention and rehabilitation are necessary criteria that can also be enhanced. Implications : This study looked at the classification and facility standard of mental health facility by the change in community mental health services paradigm. Forward according to these changes, there is a need for specific guidelines for mental health facility.
