Consequently, this study examined the presentation of fashion magazine advertising. The fashion magazine advertising(771 cases in women's magazines, 120 cases in men's magazines) was classified according to the FCB GRID model. The fashion magazine advertising was categorized into high involvement-feeling goods(jewelry, accessories, bags, shoes, perfumes, men and women dresses, jeans, bathing suits etc.), low involvement-feeling goods(casual wears, imitation accessories etc.), high involvement-thinking goods(cosmetics, underwears, sports shoes etc.) and low involvement-thinking goods(hair goods, sports wears, undergarments etc.). A great of the fashion advertising consisted of photography and the emotional approach. Thinking goods placed emphasis on the functional value, whereas high involvement-feeling goods placed emphasis on the emotional value and low involvement-feeling goods on the fashionable value.

  • Among the common textile fibers, wool has excellent wrinkle recovery. However, absorbed moisture plasticizes the structure and increases the rate of stress relaxation during wear deformation. Therefore, the wrinkle recovery of wool deteriorates under very high-humidity conditions and is of particular concern in men's lightweight suits, where the trend is toward wool fabrics of lightweight and bright color in which the wrinkles are emphasized. • The purpose of this study was to investigate between locus of control, body cathexis and four aspects of clothing behavior. Locus of control was measured by Rotter's The Internal-External Scale and body cathexis by Secord and Jourard's Body Cathexis Scale. Two aspects of clothing behavior were assessed with Lee's questionnaires dealing with status symbol and clothing satisfaction. Clothing Acceptance I was determined with questionnaires designed to measure the acceptance of color and casual wear and Clothing Acceptance II by line drawings of clothing representing formal type, informal type, and new mode type designed to measure the acceptance of business suits. The questionnaires in this study were administered to a sample of men (between 20 to more than 60 years of age) in Seoul. The data from 303 respondents were analyzed. The results were: 1) Locus of control was not related to Clothing Acceptance I(acceptance of color and casual wear), but positively related to Clothing Acceptance II(acceptance of business suit), that is, the persons having wider latitudes of acceptance in business suits were internally controlled in locus of control. 2) Locus of control was negatively related to status symbol, that is, the persons having higher concepts in status symbol were externally controlled in locus of control. 3) Body cathexis was positively related to clothing satisfaction, that is, the persons having higher satisfaction toward their clothing were more satisfied with their body.

  • This research develops a basic design structure for scuba diving wetsuits suitable for the shape of Korean men in their 30's as well as enhances the reduction rate for underwater activity. The clothing pressure and fitness tests were performed using four different types of body suits. The usable data of the tests were coded for further statistical analysis that includes one way-ANOVA test and S-N-K Multiple Range Test by using SPSSWIN 17.0. An analysis of the results shows: (1) The results of the clothing pressure test (using a dummy) indicated that the larger the reduction rate, the stronger the clothing pressure gets (with an exception on the knee area). It has great impact on clothing pressure with regards to the different body parts. The different reduction rates should be applied to body parts accordingly. (2) In the case of test subjects, the overall mean values of the clothing pressure were lower than the ones with the dummy (attributable to the cushion function of body skin and muscle as well as the high stretch of the fabric). (3) In evaluating the subjective fit test of four types of body suits, a statistically significant difference was found in the relation between pattern reduction rates and all parts of the body. It was revealed that the reduction rate of 'B' pattern (X: 4%, Y: 3%) was the most suitable pattern and the 'B' pattern scored highest in the motion functional fit test performed by a test subject.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, a floral decoration, with a focus on its aesthetics, its practical use and its traditional meaning. After the examination of its history, the paper, recreated the proceeds by taking into consideration both the contemporary men's fashion, as well as the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ designs of the past. The three factors of contemporary $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ design, in brief, are its historical meaning, the visual aesthetics and the wearability. In this paper, the research and design steps are as followed below. First, the paper examined the history of men's fashion leading up to the twenty-first century in order to get a deeper understanding of the history of $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$. Second, the paper attempted to find the most suitable fabric materials and flowers for the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, in order to produce diverse $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$ that can be worn in any season and occasion. As for the fabrics that can be used to make the $boutonni{\grave{e}}re$, organza can be used for the S/S season, and wool, tweed and suede can be used for the F/W season. • This study builds a database that can be reflected in the production of dress form for fitting by typifying the upper body shape of a senior male. This study analyzed the 3D shape data of 405 persons of the 5th Size Korea. The age range is from 50s 210 persons and 60s 205 persons. Analysis items to identify upper body shape of senior males consisted of 51 items. 3D shape data were also measured using a Geomagic Design ${\times}$ program for the analysis of the upper body of the senior male required for the dress form of this study. The reference point was based on the Size Korea 2010 3D measurement standard and created points (Back-protrusion) on shape data. As a result of the senior men type, the senior men's body type was classified into four types:1. Overall, the upper body is a large body type and the most undistorted overall body type 2. Width / Thickness Flatness is the largest and vertical length factor is the smallest abdominal obesity type 3. Severe flexion of the back part type 4. The upper body is small and the scapular bending is severe. The elderly body type showed a high distribution ratio in the type with severe flexion. The development of a dress form that reflects the cause of the finery issue can improve the fit of ready-to-wear.

  • The purpose of this study is twofold: it suggests appropriate sizes in menswear slim-fit jackets according to brand zones and number of buttons, as well as jacket patternmaking methods according to jacket styles by surveying and comparing the overall present status of patternmaking and production for both men's slim-fit and classic-fit jackets. The researcher conducted interviews with patternmakers of sixteen brands with prepared questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics using SPSS 12.0. The results of this study are as follows: first, for the production ratios of jacket style, the jacket styles' respective proportions differ distinctly according to brand zone. Second, for a jacket with the same number of buttons according to brand zone, the size in character-casual brand zone (character casual can be defined as high quality brands producing designer style clothes) is slightly bigger than the men's formal suit. As the number of buttons increases, there are increases in the chest, waist and hip circumference; on the other hand, the front neck width and the distance from the shoulder neck point to the bottom of the lapel both decrease. Furthermore, the amount of wearing ease in the chest, waist, upper arm circumference, and sleeve curve is less in slim-fit jacket styles than in classic-fit jacket styles. Fusible interfacing alone is used in slim-fit jackets, while sew-in interfacing is used in combination with fusible interfacing in classic-fit jackets. This research concludes that when slim-fit men's jackets are manufactured, appropriate patternmaking and manufacturing methods should be considered.
