  • This study analyzes on which Sports Program the 2006 TV focused on. As a data, we have used the 2006 Television programming components of KBS 1TV, 2TV and MBC TV, SBS TV. The analysis of the data was carried out classifying the sports hookup program. As a result, all three broadcasting companies placed a great deal of weight on the 2006 World Cup and they have made national match the prime subject in the components of Television Programming. Looking at each broadcasting companies, SBS TV placed the highest importance in sports programming, on the other hand, KBS TV placed the least importance in sports programming. The characteristic of the 2006 Sports Television Programming components is that it was focused on the Mega Sports Event and the Pro-Sports of the World Cup and have worsen the alienation phenomena of unpopular sports.

  • In recent decades, the characteristics of natural hazard has been changed and the global cost of natural disasters has increased substantially. There are several trends in society and nature that suggest this pattern may continue, with more frequent mega-disasters occurring in the future. In particular, risk perception that is at odds with the "real" risk underlies the process of risk transference increases long-term vulnerability. Therefore investigating the correct risk transference and adjustments according to regional socio-economic structure can mitigate and reduce environmental, so called man-made hazard.

  • Plasmid-cured derivative strains of Bacillus anthracis are frequently used in laboratory studies. Plasmid incompatibility, which does not increase the risk of chromosomal mutation, is a useful method for plasmid curing. However, in bacteria containing multiple plasmids, it often requires the sequential introduction of multiple, specific incompatibility plasmids. This lengthy process renders the traditional plasmid incompatibility method inefficient and mutation-prone. In this study, we successfully cured plasmids pXO1 and pXO2 from B. anthracis A16 simultaneously using only one recombinant incompatible plasmid, pKORT, to obtain a plasmid-free strain, designated A16DD. This method may also be useful for the simultaneous, one-step curing of multiple plasmids from other bacteria, including Bacillus thuringiensis and Yersinia pestis.

  • Arcology (architecture plus ecology) is a new term that was coined by the visionary architect, Paolo Soleri (1919-2013), and aims to provide a useful solution for a sustainable dense urban environment. Inspired by the environmental and humanistic crisis in the 1970s, he continuously promoted ideal future city forms with arcology in mind. Arcosanti is one of the many arcologies he proposed and is the only one that was constructed. This paper constructs arcology as a sustainable architectural theory with Arcosanti as a verifiable case study. Despite the fact that arcosanti is only partially built, and far from completion, it still possesses some of the values that Soleri's vision may offer to future generations.

  • Last year, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games have finished successfully. Over the last century the Olympic Games have received much attention from the world widely in the various point of views. In opposition to the Olympic Games, Delphic Games have attracted little attention. Moreover, There are no comprehensive monograph and research about Delphic Games in ancient and modem era. On that account, this paper will focused on the historical context of Delphic Games, review contents of it, and discuss visions to introducing and announcing the Delphic Games to the academic world.

  • This paper presents the results of a numerical investigation on the behavior of earth retaining wall system with emphasis on the groundwater lowering. Using the 2D stress-pore pressure coupled analysis, the effects of ground excavation and groundwater interaction were examined using wall horizontal deformation, ground surface movement, plastic strain pattern, effective stress distribution and axial stress of strut. In addition, based on the results from a parametric study on a wide range of soil profile and initial ground water table level, the ranges of wall displacement and ground deformation were suggested quantitatively.

  • Purpose: The aim this study was to identify the factors that influence the social adjustment of North Korean defectors. The participants were 156 North Korean defectors over 20 years old residing in G and C cites. Methods: The data were collected from August 1 to October 31, 2014, and analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program with one-way ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple stepwise regression. Results: The general characteristics, such as family, health status, and job, had a significant influence on social adjustment. The level of depression and anxiety was less than moderate and the levels of self-esteem, hope, and social adjustment were moderate. The correlations among depression, anxiety, self-esteem, hope, and social adjustment were significant. These variables showed an explanation rate 28% and self-esteem (${\beta}=.17$), depression (${\beta}=-.15$), anxiety (${\beta}=-.15$), hope (${\beta}=.14$), job (temporary)(${\beta}=-.10$), health status (bad)(${\beta}=-.07$), job (no)(${\beta}=-.04$) were statistically significant among the variables that influenced social adjustment. Conclusion: A program of nursing intervention is needed to care for the mental and physical health problems as well as social education to reduce the negative perception of North Korean defectors.

  • Mitis group streptococci (MGS) were classified based on the nucleotide sequences 16S rRNA gene (16S rDNA) and comprised 13 Streptococcus species. However, 16S rDNA homogeneity among MGS was too high to discriminate between clinical strains at the species level, notably between Streptococcus mitis, Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus pseudopneumoniae. The purpose of this study was to discriminate between 37 strains of MGS isolated from Korean oral cavities using phylogenetic analysis of the DNA-dependant RNA polymerase beta-subunit gene (rpoB). 16S rDNA and rpoB from clinical strains of MGS were sequenced using the dideoxy chain termination method and analyzed using MEGA version 5 software. The resulting phylogenetic data showed that the rpoB sequences could delineate clinical strains of MGS at the species level. Phylogenetic analysis of rpoB is therefore a useful approach for identifying MGS at the species level.

  • We present a multi-wavelength study of a supercluster in the NEP region at z=0.087, using AKARI (Infrared space telescope) NEP-Wide (5.8 deg2) survey which has obtained an unique IR imaging dataset with contiguous wavelength coverage from 2 to $24{\mu}m$, overcoming the Spitzer limitation of imaging capability at $10-20{\mu}m$. The NEP-Wide survey is also covered in other wavelength such as X-ray, Radio, GALEX UV in the archive, optical (BRI from Maidanak 1.5m and CFHT's MegaPrime), and NIR imaging data (JH from KPNO 2.1m), with nearly 1900 optical spectra, mostly obtained by our group using MMT/Hectospec and WIYN/Hydra. Armed with the multiwavelength datasets, we investigate the connection between IR properties of galaxies and their environments as a tool to understand the evolution of galaxies in a supercluster environment. Specific attention will be given to MIR emission which can trace star formation activities and passive phases right after post-starbursts, and its relation to other wavelength data.

  • This paper presents the results of a two-dimensional finite element analysis of end bearing capacity of single pile installed in fractured rock mass. A number of cases were analyzed using Hoek-Brown criterion that can consider the condition of rock joints. Considering a wide range of joint conditions in which the pile is embedded into the rock, GSI was set as a main parameter. And the effects of pile diameter, unconfined compressive strength of rock and Hoek-Brown constant $m_0$ were considered. Based on parameter study, end bearing load factor graphs were suggested.
