아동의 구강관리에 대한 부모들의 인식유형 : Q-방법론적 접근 (The Types of Recognition in Parents of Children Oral Care : Q-methodological Approach)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a program of oral health education for children and to furnish basic data contributing to the improvement of children's oral health. In this study, we tried to analyze and discover the types of recognition in parents of children's oral care. With the use of Q-methodology that could systematically and scientifically estimate the subjectivity of humans, 28 parents were collected as a P-sample. 3 general types were discovered. The characteristics of each type were the following: Type 1. "Serious consideration of prevention care type" took a positive attitude to their children's oral care, were knowledgable, and maintained high concern about oral care. They regularly visited dentists for prevention and believed in caries prevention through brushing teeth. They also put high trust in dentists. Type 2. "Disposition by the existing state type" believed that caries could develop even with brushing teeth and could be inherited from parents, Practically, they had a passive attitude to their children's oral care depending on stages and were more concerned with the appearance of dentition than with their children's oral health. Type 3. "Home care-centered type" had less knowledge about children's oral care than the other two types and was careless for teeth prevention. Therefore, they had not intended to participate in the oral health education program.

산약(Disocorea batatas) 에탄올추출물의 L. gasseri, S. mutans, P. gingivalis에 대한 항균능과 성장억제 효과 (Antibacterial Effect of Dioscorea Batatas Ethanol Extract Against L. gasseri, S. mutans and P. gingivalis)

  • Purpose : In this study, to prove the antibacterial effect of Disocorea batatas, which is widely used for food, and to confirm the growth inhibitory effect, the antibacterial activity against L. gasseri, S. mutans, and P. gingivalis was verified. Based on this, it is intended to verify the utility as a preventive and therapeutic composition for dental caries and periodontal disease. Methods : RAW 264.7 cells were used to verify the cell survival rate and NO (Nitric Oxide) inhibitory effect on Disocorea batatas ethanol extract (DBEE). In order to verify the antibacterial effect against L. gasseri, S. mutans, and P. gingivalis, concentrations of 125, 250, and 500 ㎎/㎖ of DBEE were used and measured by the disk diffusion method. In order to confirm the growth inhibitory effect, the absorbance was measured at 600 ㎚ at 3, 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours using the liquid medium dilution method, and the growth inhibitory effect was measured compared to the control group. Results : The cell viability for DBEE was 91 % at 50 ㎎/㎖, and there was no cytotoxicity. The NO production inhibitory effect was shown from 10 ㎍/ml, and the higher the concentration, the greater the inhibitory effect. As for the antimicrobial effect using the disk diffusion method, the higher the concentration, the higher the antibacterial effect. At 125 ㎎/㎖ and 250 ㎎/㎖, S. mutans and L. gasseri showed high antimicrobial activity, and at 500 ㎎/㎖, the antibacterial effect was higher in L. gasseri. The growth inhibitory effect in DBEE was concentration-dependent as the higher the concentration, the higher the growth inhibitory effect, and all of them began to show growth inhibitory effects from 6 hours. Conclusion : Considering that it is widely used as an edible and medicinal material, Disocorea batatas has shown the potential to be used as a substance to prevent and alleviate dental caries and periodontal diseases, and it is believed that further research can be applied to oral health care products.

Cinnamic acid derivatives as potential matrix metalloproteinase-9 inhibitors: molecular docking and dynamics simulations

  • Matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is a zinc and calcium-dependent proteolytic enzyme involved in extracellular matrix degradation. Overexpression of MMP-9 has been confirmed in several disorders, including cancers, Alzheimer's disease, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and dental caries. Therefore, MMP-9 inhibition is recommended as a therapeutic strategy for combating various diseases. Cinnamic acid derivatives have shown therapeutic effects in different cancers, Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular diseases, and dental caries. A computational drug discovery approach was performed to evaluate the binding affinity of selected cinnamic acid derivatives to the MMP-9 active site. The stability of docked poses for top-ranked compounds was also examined. Twelve herbal cinnamic acid derivatives were tested for possible MMP-9 inhibition using the AutoDock 4.0 tool. The stability of the docked poses for the most potent MMP-9 inhibitors was assessed by molecular dynamics (MD) in 10 nanosecond simulations. Interactions between the best MMP-9 inhibitors in this study and residues incorporated in the MMP-9 active site were studied before and after MD simulations. Cynarin, chlorogenic acid, and rosmarinic acid revealed a considerable binding affinity to the MMP-9 catalytic domain (ΔGbinding < -10 kcal/ mol). The inhibition constant value for cynarin and chlorogenic acid were calculated at the picomolar scale and assigned as the most potent MMP-9 inhibitor from the cinnamic acid derivatives. The root-mean-square deviations for cynarin and chlorogenic acid were below 2 Å in the 10 ns simulation. Cynarin, chlorogenic acid, and rosmarinic acid might be considered drug candidates for MMP-9 inhibition.

세신 추출물의 Streptococcus mutans에 대한 성장, 산생성, 부착 및 비수용성 글루칸 합성억제에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Asarum sieboldii Extracts on the Growth, Acid Production, Adhesion, and Insoluble Glucan Synthesis of Streptococcus mutans)

  • 치아우식 예방제를 개발하기 위해 천연물인 세신을 메탄올, 물로 추출하여 S. mutans의 성장과 산 생성 억제, S-HA에 부착 억제, 비수용성 글루칸 합성 효과를 측정하고 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. S. mutans의 성장억제율이 세신 추출물은 넣지 않은 대조군에 비해 10, 100, 1,000, 2,000 μg/ml 농도에서 메탄올 추출물은 각각 9%, 14%, 34%, 53%, 물추출물은 4%, 8%, 17%, 21%를 나타내어, 100 μg/ml이상 농도에서 S. mutans의 성장억제 효과가 유의적으로 있었고(p<0.01), S. mutans의 산 생성량은 대조군에 pH는 3.76, 메탄올 추출물은 10, 100, 1,000, 2,000 μg/ml 농도에서 각각 3.91, 4.21, 4.74, 5.36, 물 추출물은 3.75, 3.97, 4.66, 5.15를 나타내어, 100μg/ml 이상 농도에서 S. mutans의 산 생성억제 효과가 유의적으로 있었다(p<0.05). 또 S-HA에 S. mutans 부착 억제율이 대조군에 비해 메탄올 추출물은 10, 100, 1,000, 2,000 μg/ml 농도에서 각각 56%, 61%, 63%, 96%, 물 추출물은 51%, 74%, 81%, 98%로 부착억제 효과가 유의적으로 있었으며(p<0.05), 10μg/ml 농도에서도 50% 이상의 S. mutans의 hydroxyapatite bead 부착억제 효과가 있었고, GTFase에 의한 비수용성 글루칸 정량 실험을 한 결과 대조군에 비해 메탄올 추출물은 10, 100, 1,000, 2,000 g/ml 농도에서 각각 4%, 18%, 75%, 99%, 물 추출물은 8%, 32%, 73%, 99%의 합성억제 효과가 있었고(p<0.05), 2,000 μg/ml 농도에서는 비수용성 글루칸 합성이 거의 이루어지지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 토대로 하여 볼 때, 세신은 S. mutans의 살균 작용과 유기산의 생성 억제 보다는, S. mutans의 치아표면에의 부착과 비수용성 글루칸 합성 억제에 관여하여, 항치아우식 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

우리나라 다문화가정 청소년의 구강질환증상과의 관련요인 (Related factors of oral symptoms in adolescents from Korean multicultural families)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the related factors of dental caries and periodontal disease in adolescents from Korean multicultural families, thereby helping to reduce the prevalence rate of oral disease. Methods: The subjects were 710 multicultural adolescents recruited using a web-based survey, National 2015 Korean Youth Risk Behavior, from the Korean Center for Disease Control. A multicultural family was defined in this study as one having an immigrant mother or father. Oral symptoms included dental caries and periodontal disease. Toothache was defined as a symptom of dental caries. Tender or bleeding gums were defined as symptom of periodontal disease. For statistical analysis, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 21.0 for Windows was used. Descriptive analysis and a Chi-square test were conducted to determine the factors associated with general characteristics, health behavior, and oral health behavior. Finally, to investigate the associations among oral disease symptoms, logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: Toothache was significantly higher in female 1.52 (95% CI; 1.45-1.60), high school 1.23 (95% CI; 1.18-1.28), women school 1.10 (95% CI; 1.05-1.16), individuals with poor economic status 1.45 (95% CI; 1.30-1.52), and participants who consumed alcohol 1.32 (95% CI; 1.27-1.37). Toothache related to perceived health status was significantly lower in the healthy group 0.69 (95% CI; 0.64-0.75), and was higher in usual stress group 1.65 (95% CI; 1.57-1.74). Gum bleeding was significantly higher in female 1.32 (95% CI; 1.27-1.37), high school 1.15 (95% CI; 1.10-1.19), and individuals with poor economic status 1.38 (95% CI; 1.27-1.50). Gum bleeding related to perceived health status was significantly lower in the healthy group 0.68 (95% CI; 0.63-0.74), and was higher in usual stress group 1.54 (95% CI; 1.46-1.62). Conclusions: Taking into account of social and economic levels, and dietary habits in the multicultural families adolescents, further education and support will be needed for oral disease prevention and early treatment.

구강병원균에 대한 편백 피톤치드의 항균작용 (Antibacterial Effect on Oral Pathogenic Bacteria of Phytoncide from Chamaecyparis Obtusa)

  • 천연 식물 추출물을 구강 질환 분야에 활용하는 방안이 다양하게 모색되고 있다. 본 연구는 편백나무에서 추출한 휘발성 정유인 피톤치드를 치의학분야에 활용하고자 치아우식증 원인균인 Streptococcus mutans GS5와 Streptococcus sobrinus 6715, 급진성 치주염에 관련된 Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans Y4에 대한 항균효과를 미생물학적으로 실험하였다. 흡광도 측정, 생균수 검사, 항생제 감수성 검사를 통해 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 1. 피톤치드의 최소억제농도(minimum inhibitory concentration; MIC)는 S. mutans GS5는 0.5%, S. sobrinus 6715는 1%, A. actinomycetemcomitans Y4는 0.2%로 측정되었다. 2. 피톤치드의 최소살균농도(minimum bactericidal concentration; MBC)는 S. mutans GS5는 0.5%, S. sobrinus 6715는 2%, A. actinomycetemcomitans Y4는 0.2%로 측정되었다. 3. 피톤치드에 노출된 실험균주에 대한 항생제 감수성 실험에서 피톤치드를 적용했을 경우, S. mutans GS5과 S. sobrinus 6715는 ampicillin에 대한 감수성이 유의성 있게 증가하였다. S. sobrinus 6715의 경우는 penicillin과 amoxicillin에 대한 감수성도 피톤치드에 의해 유의성 있게 증가하였다. 반면, A. actinomycetemcomitans Y4는 amoxicillin과 cefotaxime에 대한 감수성이 다소 증가하였으나 유의성은 없었다. 이상의 결과로, 편백 피톤치드 정유는 치아우식증 원인균인 Streptococcus mutans와 Streptococcus sobrinus, 급진성 치주염 원인균인 Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans에 대한 살균효과가 있을 뿐만 아니라 이들 균의 항생제 감수성을 높이는 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 피톤치드는 치아우식증과 치주질환을 포함한 구강질환에 대해 예방적이고 치료적인 효과를 얻을 가능성이 있는 것으로 생각된다.

간이정신진단검사를 이용한 치과외래환자의 정서상태에 관한 연구 (A Study on Personality Traits of the Dental Outpatients through SCL-90-R)

  • Emotional state of dental outpatients was studied by means of symptom checklist-90- revision, 229 male and 290 female dental outpatients were subjected at the private local clinic in Pusna, during the period from 1994 to 1995. T-scores from SCL-90-R were analyzed psychologically by means of 90 questionnaires through Korean manual of SCL-90-R. The obntained results were as follows : 1. Mean value of T-scores on 9 basic scales of SCL-90-R in all the dental outpatients was within normal range. 2. T-scores in male were significantly higher than that in female, and there was a significant difference by age group in female. 3. There were higher levels of T-scores in groups of high academic carrier, salaryman, public servant, and unmarried person. 4. T-score of patients with periodontal pain was the highest in all subject groups. 5. While T-score of patients with K01(embedded and impated teeth) was the highest, that of K02(dental caries) was the lowest. 6. T-score in acute group was higher than that in chronic group. 7. T-score of patients treated in field of oral surgery or oral medicine was higher than those of other fields of dental treatments.

균혈증(菌血症)을 동반(同伴)한 열궐두통(熱厥頭痛)의 치험(治驗) 1례(例) (A Case of a Yolgwol Headache with Bacteremia)

  • Bacteremia is the transient presence of bacteria (or other microorganisms) in the blood. Bacteremia may result no symptom to the healthy persons, but it may result symptoms such as pylexia, headache and even septic shock to the patient in immunosuppression. In this case, a 75 years old male patient had a dental caries and cerebrovascular accident ago, therefore was in a bad condition and often caught cough. Suddenly be bad a headache with a high fever caused by Streptococcus Mutans Bateremia. After defervescence, a slight fever and a headache remained. It may the symptoms of Yolgwol headache(熱厥頭痛) , so Cbeougsaugsabwa-taug(淸上瀉火湯), the symptoms such as a slight fever and a headache are on the mend.

불소가 치아 경조직에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Effect of Fluoride to Dental Hard Tissue)

  • Caries free anterior teeth were rinsed for 10 minutes with 1%, 5% sodium fluoride and 1% stannous fluoride solution three times a day for the period of experiment. And the author measured the concentration of enamel fluoride by means of Mc Cann's Technique. And the results were as follows : 1. There were little difference of enamel fluoride concentration between the teeth treated with 5% sodium fluoride solution. 2. The enamel fluoride concentration shows a tendency of direct proportion in lower concentration of fluoride solution for the period of 10 days. 3. The Enamel fluoride concentration in the group treated with stannous fluoride solution reveals acute elevation in the 5th day of experiment but the trend was not direct proportional in the 10th day of experiment.

지표수 및 지하수중 불소 함량에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fluoride Contents in Surface and Ground Waters in Korea.)

  • A study was performed to find out the fluoride contents in surface and ground waters from June, 1973 to July, 1974. Water samples were collected from 53 surface and ground water sources. The results are as follows: 1. Out of 53 samples, the ground water of Hwaengsung had the highest fluoride contents (1.6 mg/l) and 13 samples did not. have fluoride at all. 2. The waters from Yoju (ground), Chongnung (ground) Hwaengsung (ground) and Namyang (ground) had optimum fluoride level (0.6~1.7mg/l) for the prevention of dental caries. 3. The ground waters had more fluoride contents than surface waters and the waters of coastal areas had less fluoride contents than those of inland. 4. The waters of Kangwon province had the most fluoride contents (mean 0.57mg/l) and the waters of Cheju do had the least fluoride contents (mean 0.06 mg/l)
