There are several problems facing our society today that are caused by demographic changes, such as an increase in the ageing population. The rapid increase in the aging population leads to increases in medical costs and a higher demand for care services for the elderly. The needs and burdens associated with elderly care are growing, but the human resources and costs to meet these needs are limited. Welfare technology has been suggested as an effective way to solve the discrepancy between higher welfare needs and limited resources. This study aims to explore the current trends and challenges of using welfare technology related to elderly care through literature review. Practical ways to expand uses of welfare technology are also provided. In order to make effective and practical use of welfare technology, public awareness and education, the cooperation of related organizations, the expansion and utilization of Living Labs, and the development and adoption of welfare technology are required.

The entry of aging society and the coming of (super) aged society need overall the elderly welfare policy and budget for quantitative expansion and qualitative increase to the elderly welfare services. However, financial limit to the elderly welfare and increase to elderly welfare services in local government rely on central government or private sector. This study is discussed the gap between demands and supplies of the elderly welfare services in Busan Metropolitan City and policy implications suggested by these results. The major findings of the study are summarized as follows. First, the rate of the poor elderly under minimum living standard and the elderly housing facilities in demand of the elderly welfare services is reduced, but other measuring indicators are generally increased. Second, a per 10,000 elderly welfare service officials and a per 10,000 elderly medical welfare facilities in supply of the elderly welfare services are generally increased, but other measuring indicators are reduced. The policy implications of the study is to reduce the poor elderly under minimum living standard, to expend the elderly welfare budget, and adequately to supply a variety of the elderly welfare facilities for reduce demand of the elderly welfare services.

Korean medical welfare facilities for the elderly provide the conveniences to care geriatric illness such as dementia and stroke. The medical welfare facility categorizes elderly care facilities, nursing homes, and geriatrics hospitals based on the Korean welfare of the aged act. The government makes an effort to secure feed rate and finances of medical welfare facilities. However, the qualitative improvement of facilities is inadequate. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conditions and problems of existing facilities using an environmental evaluation and to discuss the improvement direction related to the daycare centers for the elderly. The method of this study is literature review and field survey. Firstly, we analyzed the previous studies to develop the tool, evaluating the environment of day care centers for the old. Secondly, the items of environmental evaluation are deduced. Thirdly, we select the facilities to conduct field survey and analyze the results of field survey. Lastly, We discussed the problems and improvement directions through the results. It is judged that this study is an useful as the basic guideline to strengthen the minimum legal standards of day care center for the elderly due to the suggestion of insufficient environmental evaluation items.

The river technology of Japan was highly developed and achieved much result in flood protection, water use and the environment. Nowadays, the function which is requested to the river is changes because the society changes from growth to maturity. In this study, we suggest the functions of the river in the maturity society about future welfare, medical care and education based on field research of case study. In this research, we pay attention to the functions related with culture, one) function of healing, mental stress improvement and life, two) function of landscape, education and recreation. And this paper proposed the usage of the river where adopt to the times, a function and the value of "the river as the space". We made a questionnaire to 187 river managers, and 90% of answers wear positive for use the river as the medical aspect, health and the welfare. Furthermore, based on research result of hospitals and welfare facilities which used a river for their activities, we suggest to develop and use the river walk, to design a city and rivers as one, and to use many facilities which are located on river front more active, those are improve the new river functions.

On September 12, 2018, President Jae-In Moon announced the Comprehensive Plan for Lifelong Care for People with Developmental Disabilities, with representatives from the associated government branches (Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Employment and Labor) in attendance. The goals of this plan are to provide health, medical, rehabilitative, special education, and social welfare services according to the life-stages of the affected individuals; to reduce parental pressure; to promote social interventions; and to enhance community-level participation in order to create a 'welfare society in harmony.' However, in order for the plan to succeed, additional efforts must be made in the following areas. First, an epidemiological survey is needed to understand the scale, prevalence, and incidence of developmental disabilities and to establish an evidence base to support policy development. Second, accurate definitions of developmental disabilities must be established in order to avoid policy discrimination based on impairment type and age. Third, personal evaluations to assess disabled individuals' unmet needs and customized service designs to deliver those needs are required. Fourth, the plan must fulfill the goals of accessibility and fairness that the government intends to provide. Fifth, the government should consider an integrated financial support system and to propose a detailed plan for monetary distributions. Finally, an integrated system that links health, medical, employment, educational, and welfare services must be constructed.

Purpose: There is an issue in applying various principles introduced in established Korean medical classics to "Pharmaceuticals Approval, Notification and Review" of "herbal medicinal preparations" and "new drugs from natural products" that are used for western forms of medical treatment. Thus, an analysis of the origin, purpose, and application of established Korean medical classics in the Korean Pharmaceutical Affairs Act is essential. Methods: We collected data regarding the origin, purpose, and application of established Korean medical classics in the Korean Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, and classified them by periodical change and subjects. Results: Established Korean medical classics are applied as follows: 1) as criteria for Korean medicine distributors' sales of mixed herbal drugs (Pharmaceutical Affairs Act; since 1953), 2) as official compendiums for pharmacists' preparation of Korean medicine (Ministry of Health and Welfare's authoritative interpretation; from early 1970s to 1993), 3) as standards for oriental pharmacists' quality measurement of preparations (notification of the Ministry of Health and Welfare; since 1995), 4) as criteria for "Pharmaceuticals Approval, Notification and Review" of herbal medicinal preparations and crude drug preparations (notifications regarding drug approval process by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety; since 1978), and 5) as standards for the quality of materials of health functional food (from 2004 to 2011). Conclusion: The application of Korean medical classics has been closely related with the change of the laws, regulations, and systems that are relevant to Korean medicine, and it seems to be more favorable for pharmacists than oriental pharmacists. Meanwhile, regulations that apply prescriptions that are recorded in Korean medical classics - dosage, indications, and preparation methods - as criteria for the approval of crude drug preparations for western medical treatment should be abolished.

사회복지 영역에서 사회복지사의 과도한 업무 부담과 높은 이직률 문제는 오랫동안 제기되어 왔으나, 의료사회복지사의 이직 문제에 대한 논의는 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 의료사회복지사에 대한 직무요구가 이직의도에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 직무만족의 매개효과를 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 분석에는 대한의료사회복지사협회에 등록되어 있는 의료사회복지사 중 현재 병원에서 근무 중인 188명의 자료가 활용되었으며, 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 연구 모형을 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 의료사회복지사에 대한 직무요구가 직무만족을 거쳐 이직의도에 영향을 미치는 매개 경로는 유의미한 것으로 나타났으나, 직무요구가 이직의도에 미치는 직접적인 영향력은 없는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 낮은 직무만족과 이직의도로 이어지는 의료사회복지사에 대한 직무요구 개선을 위한 대한 조직적, 제도적 함의를 제시하였다.

The senior welfare centers should provide integrated welfare services to the elderly whose needs are in change. So this paper tried to find a direction for improvement by identifying the spatial organization of the centers which are in Yeosu, Suncheon and Gwangyang. Classification of spaces of senior welfare center followed the guidelines 2020 for senior welfare center from Ministry of Health and Welfare which are consultation, medical rehabilitation, day or short-term protection, social education, home welfare, employment, welfare and public relations and PR planning and by adding management and public space. The above factors are invested and analyzed. The results of the survey and analysis of seven senior welfare centers are as follows. First, in the survey, the spatial organization of the senior welfare centers surveyed showed that the larger the size is, the dominantly lager the social education space is. Second, the space for day or short-term care, and employment is less than 1% of the total area, and most senior welfare centers do not have a basic space for this. Third, the space related to home welfare and counseling is very small, and more than half of the senior welfare centers do not have space related to it.

Religious organizations execute various social welfare programs on the basis of their religious ideology and faith. Their practice vividly aim at mission, propagation, edification, and spreading, but also is practised as a way of philanthropy, an universal value. Daesoonjinrihoe's social welfare program can be understood in this respect. This paper investigates on which idea Daesoonjinrihoe's social welfare program takes its basis, and examines the current situation and tasks of the social welfare program. Daesoonjinrihoe runs their social welfare program on the idea of 'Resolution of grievances for the mutual beneficence of all life[Haewonsangsaeng: 解冤相生]' and 'Boeunsangsaeng(報恩相生)'. Their program is concentrated on medical welfare, welfare for elderly people, and youth welfare. It is noteworthy that Daesoonjinrihoe's welfare program is not subsidized by government as much as those of other religious organizations. This paper looks into the tasks for Daesoonjinrihoe's social welfare program in terms of operational system and hardware, and suggests that we need to show interest in multicultural welfare systems and support it as Korean society is becoming a more multicultural society.
