Purpose : This paper reviews intensity of physical therapy for stroke. Methods : This is literature study with Pubmed, EBSCO, ProQuest, EMBASE and CINAHL. Results : There were 20 studies that reviewed effects of increased intensity of physical therapy after stroke involving time post-stroke, elements of physical therapy, duration of physical therapy, methods of physical therapy. Ten of the eleven studies, involving time post-stroke, demonstrated significant improvement. Seventeen studies involving upper extremity, lower extremity and mobility demonstrated significant improvement. Five studies involving increased duration of physical therapy demonstrated significant improvement. Studies involving methods of physical therapy showed that mix of different methods is more effective than single method. Conclusion : Increased intensity of physical therapy improve functional recovery.

Gene therapy involves the introduction of foreign genetic material into host tissue to alter the expression of genetic products. Gene therapy represents an opportunity to alter the course of various diseases. Hence, genetic products utilizing safe and reliable vectors with improved biotechnology will play a critical role in the treatment of various diseases in the future. This review summarizes various important vectors for gene therapy along with modern techniques for potential craniofacial regeneration using gene therapy. This review also explains current molecular approaches for the management and treatment of cancer using gene therapy. The existing literature was searched to find studies related to gene therapy and its role in craniofacial regeneration and cancer treatment. Various databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched for English language articles using the keywords "gene therapy," "gene therapy in present scenario," "gene therapy in cancer," "gene therapy and vector," "gene therapy in diseases," and "gene therapy and molecular strategies."

The objectives of this study was to investigate the incidence and any correction between hemiplegia with pusher syndrome and neuropsychological symptoms such as hemineglect and anosognosia. Pusher syndrome defines that the patient leans toward the hemiplegic side regardless of the position that patient was placed on and resists any attempt for passive correction of posture that would move his weight toward the midline of the body. The subjects of this study were 69 acute hemiplegia who had been rehabilitated at department of rehabilitation medicine, Asan Medical Center from May 1. 1999 through July 31. 1999. The data were analyzed by researchers who were trained for assessment of anosognosia and hemineglect. 12 subjects were excluded for confusion. The method of statistical analysis used for our study was Fisher's exact test. Results of the study disclosed 21 hemiplegia(38.6%) with pusher syndrome. In conclusion, these hemiplegic patients with pusher syndrome did not have any correlation with hemineglect and anosognosia and also had no preference of stroke side.

Curcumin previously was proven to inhibit angiogenesis and display potent antitumor activity in vivo and in vitro. In the present study, we investigated whether a combination curcumin with hyperthermia would have a synergistic antitumor effect in the LL/2 model. The results indicated that combination therapy significantly inhibited cell proliferation of MS-1 and LL/2 in vitro. LL/2 experiment model also demonstrated that the combination therapy inhibited tumor growth and prolonged the life span in vivo. Furthermore, combination therapy reduced angiogenesis and increased tumor apoptosis. Our findings suggest that the combination therapy exerted synergistic antitumor effects, providing a new perspective fpr clinical tumor therapy.

Objective: The purpose of this case study is to show a case of ulcer due to buerger's disease improved by conservative acupuncture therapy. Methods : The patient was treated from 29 December, 2003 to 12 April, 2004. The patient received TDP, Infra-Red and Acupuncture therapy. Results: We evaluated through visual analog scale(VAS) and picture of patient's hand. Conclusion: We suggest to treat ulcer resulting from buerger's disease with Acupuncture therapy as a conservative therapy and would like to research acupuncture treatment plan for the further treatment.

In respiratory-induced proton therapy, the accuracy of tracking system and beam controlling is more important than photon therapy. Therefore, a high accuracy motion tracking system that can track internal marker and external surrogate is needed. In this research, our team has installed internal and external marker tracking system at our institution's proton therapy system, and tested the scanning with gating according to the position of marker. The results demonstrate that the developed in-house external/internal marker based gating system can be clinically used for proton therapy system for moving tumor treatment.

The patients with a central nervous impediment and a sequela caused by a Stroke are continuously increasing, and the burden of family and society for Stroke patients are also increasing. Since Stroke patients are required to receive a long time medical treatment and care. It adds a economical burden as well as a mental and physical burden of patient's family. In addition, it is a primary factor which deepens the disparity of medical resources in social aspect. But the social concern for these patients are very insufficient and are entirely left to the patient's family The mediation of Skilled Nursing Facility for Stroke patients enable to receive more special and proper medical treatment and recuperation service in the middle of time when they return to home from hospital. It also contributes to the settlement of the charge of patient's family and the serious disparity of medical resources. Therefore, this study will summon the social understanding of the necessity of Skilled Nursing Facilities through the above debate.

This study is to make legal suggestions concerning the legal status of the physical therapists and the their clinics io Korea. This study compares the legal status of the physical therapists with that of the optical and dental technicians, and reviews the current system of the American physical therapeutic clinic. 1. Under the supervision of the doctor or dentist' in Article 1 of Law concerning the Medical Technician should be deleted or changed into 'by the request of the doctor or dentist'. A new independent law should be mode only fer the physical therapist from the general law that stipulates the legal status of other similar medical technicians. 3. The legal status of the physical therapeutic clinic should be stipulated in the regulations for the application of the law as that of the dental technician does. The modification of the medical services, the medical expences, waiting time, the easy access to the clinic of farmers, fishermen, urban laborers, and handicapped people, and the development of the area of the physical therapy.

Objectives We report a series of 2 cases which is based on Sasang constitutional Medicine for Atopic dermatitis in Soyangin using oriental medeicine therapy with Euphorbiae Kansui. Radix (Gam-sui) Methods We treat 2 Soyangin patients that had Atopic dermatitis. We prescribed oriental medeicine therapy with Euphorbiae Kansui. Radix (Gam-sui) for their physical symptoms. The improvement of their Atopic dermatitis was evaluated. Results After using oriental medeicine therapy with Euphorbiae Kansui. Radix (Gam-sui), patients' physical symptoms were improved. Conclusions These case studies showed an efficient result of using oriental medeicine therapy with Euphorbiae Kansui. Radix (Gam-sui) in the Atopic dermatitis of Soyangin.

Purpose In order to estimate clinical effects of Oriental Medicine Treatment with acupotomy therapy of Achilles Tendinitis Methods From 4th August, 2008 to 14th August, 2008, 1 female patient diagnosed as Chronic Achilles Tendinitis (clinical diagnosed) was treated with general oriental medicine therapy(acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, physical therapy, herbal medication) and acupotomy. Results The patient's chief complaints- Lt. heel pain and stiffness, dorsi-flexion limitation, nodules in the achilles tendon- were notably improved. Conclusions This study demonstrates that oriental medical treatment with acuputomy therapy has significant effect in improving symptoms of achilles tendinitis. as though we had not wide experience in this treatment, more research is needed.
