  • Over the past two decades there has been a tremendous growth in the number of synchrotron radiation facilities in the world and also in Japan. The high flux and brightness radiation which derive from the third generation low emittance rings provide an ideal source for many applications in the medical sciences. The application of synchrotron radiation to medical imaging started in the early 80's in U.S.A, followed by European countries such as Germany and Russia. In Japan, researchs on intravenous coronary angiography started in 1884 at the Institute for High Energy Phisics(KEK) in Tsukuba. At present, it is the only application of syncrotron radiation which is at the stage of human study. In '90s, newer techniques such as phase and refraction contrast imaging appeared which are at the in vitro or animal study stage. Various types of x-ray CT have also been developed for three-dimensional imaging of the subjects. The present status of medical applications of synchrotron radiation in Japan is reviewed.

The musculoskeletal center is one of the most essential facility type in order to give adequate care to the patient suffering from musculoskeletal diseases. Methods: Statistical analysis relating to the component ratio of patients for the demand for medical care. Literature analysis for characteristic of the musculoskeletal diseases. The Status Survey of health care facilities operating in the musculoskeletal center. Results: It is necessary for the musculoskeletal center to be composed of four major areas such as consultation, examination, diagnosis, intervention for continuity of care. For continuum of care, it is essential to build medical environment integrated with each level of care such as consultant, examination, diagnosis procedure. • Objective: In this study, in order to investigate the relationship between leadership type and job satisfaction, the types of leadership in medical institutions are divided into transformational leadership, servant leadership and authentic leadership. In addition medical staff and non-medical staff are classified according to their job characteristics, and middle managers and operators are classified according to position. Methods: For this purpose, 589 questionnaires were applied to the medical institutions in Seoul and Gyunggi-do, and empirically analyzed with multiple regression. Results: The results of this study are first, among gender, medical or non-medical staff, position and career experience, men, non-medical staffs, and middle managers showed higher leadership, job engagement, and job satisfaction. Second, servant leadership and authentic leadership have significant positive relationships with job engagement. In the case of medical staff, only servant leadership has a positive effect on job engagement, while in the case of non-medical staff, both servant leadership and authentic leadership have significant influence on job engagement. Job satisfaction was found to have a statistically significant effect of servant leadership and authentic leadership in medical staff and non-medical staff. Third, in the case of middle managers, servant leadership showed a statistically significant effect only on job satisfaction, while servant leadership and authentic leadership had statistically significant effects on job engagement and job satisfaction of operators. Conclusions: This study suggests the possibility and applicability of authentic leadership in addition to transformational leadership and servant leadership in hospital organizations. Also, by identifying differences in the effects on organizational effectiveness, it is also suggested the need for research on identifying leadership factors that reflect strictly distinctive job characteristics.

  • The scale of disasters is very large, also the influence of disasters is irreversible. Korean people has continuously learned how to deal with disaster management law. However, as time goes by after the many disaster, the concern with the disaster management by the people seems to become old and banal topic which nobody has interest in. If so, can it be said that our society is safe from the disaster? This study start from critical mind of asking this question. This study puts an emphasis on the problems such as following; To realize whole concept of disaster management provided in the basic civil defense law, the combined disaster management should be required to be established, the combined law should play a integral part for prevention for the disaster and should be a concrete basis of various laws for disaster management. Establishing a consolidated organization for disaster managing and united response organization is necessary. This consolidated organization is not temporary one such as civil disaster control headquarter but permanent one such as Disaster Management Office which controls an over all aspects of disaster management. Temporary organization should not be divided into natural calamity and man-made calamity but integrated one as a single control tower for all sorts of disasters. The police and army under fire fighting system should be reconsidered. It is necessary to make leadership system on the disaster place more substantial centered around present fire fighting system. To do so, more clear division of duty is required. The working condition should be improved so that all public servants in this agency can play their roles with pride and worth. The resource owned the existing administrative organization must be used by an appointment system. And to manage a large scale of disaster, it is necessary to have interorganizational network system which many specialized organization including volunteer group are integrated. And the natural disaster happen, many professionals and volunteers are distributed to the spots of disaster in the right man in the right place. Finally, citizen's consciousness about safety supervision needs to be recover.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and organizational effectiveness among employees of medical institutions. In addition, we aim to investigate the mediating effect of motivation to participate in the In-house Innovation & Start-up Contest and the moderating effect of support from a dedicated organization. Methodology/Approach: A survey was conducted on participants in the 3rd in-house contest held in 2023 at Granum Sinapis Center of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. A total of 122 people responded to the survey. The collected data were analyzed PLS-SEM(Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model) using SmartPLS 4.0 program. Findings: First, 'Corporate entrepreneurship' had an effect on 'Participation motivation in in-house contest'. Second, 'Corporate entrepreneurship' had an effect on 'Organizational Effectiveness'. Third, 'Participation motivation in in-house contest' mediated the relationship between 'Corporate entrepreneurship' and 'Organizational Effectiveness'. And last, 'Support from a dedicated organization' had no moderating effect on the relationship between 'Corporate entrepreneurship' and 'Organizational Effectiveness'. Practical Implications: Since the dedicated organization is in the early stages of operation, there may be no moderating effect on organizational effectiveness. If follow-up research is conducted after the dedicated organization's system has been supplemented, the moderating effect may appear differently.

  • This study was carried out to clarify the neuronal organization in pineal body of catfish. The pineal body was observed by acetylcholinesterase histochemistry and electron microscopy. The neuronal types observed in the pineal body of catfish were bipolar and multipolar cells. Multipolar cells were found throughout the pineal end vesicle and whole stalk, but bipolar cells only in the end vesicle and distal stalk. The pineal tract was formed by the long axons of these neurons. The neuronal clusters(pineal ganglia) were also observed in the end vesicle. In summary, the type of neurons in catfish pineal was different from that of other species, and the neuronal distribution differed depending on the region of pineal body. These results reflect the interspecific and regional differences of the pineal organization of fishes.
