In this paper, The Supreme Court of Korea 2016. 1. 28. 2015Da9769 was reviewed. In the previous case, Korean Supreme Court 2009Da17417 for the element to requirement for permission of the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments, the patient's consent for withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments was assumed a declaration of intention to terminate the contract. But the consent for withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments corresponds not to those. The consent for medical treatments is not the juristic acts but the real acts. If the presumptive intention about these withdrawal regards as the termination of medical contract, the contract must be up to the starting the civil proceedings. According to this case, although the partial cancellation of medical contract is admitted, on the other hand medical expenses obligation ist exempted only after the final decision. At the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments the medical obligation ist exempted because of the inability to providing the medical payment, which confirmed by the final decision about the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments. Therefore the judgement of this case ist appropriate in that sense, the medical obligation ist waived only after the final decision. However that legal basis lies not at the partial cancel but at the partial inability.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to show the clinical effects of integrative oriental medical treatments for femur pain and disfunction after hip fracture surgery. Methods : Two patients were treated using acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medication and other oriental medical treatments include moxibustion, cupping therapy, physical rehabilitation for 2~3 months. And the effects of these integrative treatments were measured with numeric rating scale(NRS) and functional recovery score(FRS). Results : NRS of femur pain was decreased from 8 to 4~5 in case 1 and from 6 to 4 in case 2. FRS was improved in both cases. Conclusions : Integrative oriental medical treatments maybe effective to the patients complaining pain and functional limitations after hip fracture surgery.

Objectives : This is a study of ischemic stroke patients designed for comparing Korean and Western medical treatments and Korean medical treatments alone. Methods : 44 patients were diagnosed by B-MRI scan as having suffered ischemic stroke. They had entered Dong-eui Korean Medicine hospital within seven days of attack, and remained over seven days, all between May 2005 and October 2007. Patients were divided into two groups; a group treated with Korean medical treatments, and another group treated with Korean and Western medical treatments (but in both groups examinations were done and Western medications were given for hypertension, diabetes mellitus and so on) Results : NIHss change one month later was not statistically significant for either groups but the NIHss gap between them was significant. Conclusions : NIHss change one week later was not statistically significant for either group. NIHss change one month later was not statistically significant for either groups but the Korean medical treatment group had a significant NIHss gap more than the Korean and Western medical treatment group.

Objective : This study was performed to estimate the association between cigarette smoking and effect of oriental medical treatment in low back pain. Methods : We reviewed 40 male patients of low back pain, who were hospitalized at the Oriental Medical Hospital of Se-Myung University. 40 patients were divided into 2 groups(smokers, non-smokers) and effective scores of treatments were measured on age, symptom, etc. Result & Conclusion : Between smokers and non-smokers, statistically significant differences were not found in effective scores of treatments of low back pain, but in almost every non-smokers, they were higher than those of smokers. They seems to show that possibility of the association between cigarette smoking and effect of oriental medical treatment in low back pain.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the clinical effects of Korean medical treatments on peripheral facial palsy. Methods In this study, 5 children were treated with peripheral facial palsy with Korean medical treatments, such as herb medicines, acupunctures, electro-acupuncture, and infrared therapy. Results As a result of the treatment, 5 children were almost recovered. The average treatment period was 42.17 days, with average recovery period of 9 weeks. Conclusions This study shows that Korean medical treatments on childhood peripheral facial palsy could be one of the viable options for this patient kind.

Skin metastases of breast cancer are usually late events in the course of tumor progression and signify a poor prognosis. They may remain as a therapeutic challenge especially after failure of standard treatments. Topical interventions, together with or without radiotherapy, may only palliate the symptoms temporarily. However, there may be alternative treatment modalities for unresectable breast cancer skin metastases resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. There are various genetic alterations in tumors and therapeutic potential of expression patterns for factors like epidermal growth factor receptor may have important clinical implications in case of disease refractory to the conventional treatments. Here, we clarified the therapeutic options and genetic alterations in skin metastatic breast cancer patients refractory to standard chemotherapeutics.

Introduction: This case report assessed the effects of Korean medicine treatments on a chronic migraine patient who did not respond to triptan. Case Presentation: The patient received Korean medicine treatments, such as acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping, and herbal medication, during a hospitalization period. The effects of treatments were assessed with the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and migraine attack frequency. The intensity and attack frequency of migraines were significantly reduced after the complete treatment. Conclusions: For migraines, Korean medicine such as acupuncture and herbal medication could be an alternative to conventional therapy.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of EFT on panic disorder patients. Methods: The three patients with panic disorders were treated with oriental medical treatments which involved acupunctures, herb-medications, moxibustion and emotional freedom techniques. The patients have been predicted with panic disorder twice through diagnosis and statistical manual (DSM-IV), Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck's Anxiety Inventory (BAI) upon their admission and discharge. Results: After the treatments, both the physical and psychological symptoms have decreased. Conclusions: This study suggested that the EFT is an effective way for treating patients who are suffering panic disorders.

We investigated the effects of scintillation crystal surface treatment on gamma camera imaging. The NaI(Tl) and CsI(Tl) (20 mm (dia.) $\times10mm$ (thick) plate) scintillators were chosen for this study. Two different surface treatments, white and black reflectors, were applied to NaI(Tl) and CsI(Tl). The optical properties of generated scintillation light were evaluated using Monte Carlo simulation and postion sensitive photo multiplier tube (PSPMT). We measured sensitivity, energy resolution and spatial resolution of a gamma camera system with the scintillators coupled to a PSPMT. Based on the results, we concluded that the careful consideration of surface treatments of the scintillator was necessary in order to develop the gamma camera having good sensitivity and spatial resolution.

Objective : This study was performed to evaluate oriental medical treatment for ADHD in childhood Methods : We analyzed DSM-4 and ADS scores before and after the treatments, such as acupuncture, decoction of medical ingredients, correction treatment and oriental kinesitherapy, of ADHD in 12 elementary school students who have been visited Byon oriental medical clinic (Dogok-dong Seoul) from March to October, 2007. And all patients were treated 2 times a week for 3 month. Results : In this study, oriental medical treatments, such as acupuncture, decoction of medical ingredients, correction treatment and oriental kinesitherapy, to balance left and right brains, which is based on oriental medicine theory, was not only effective for treating attention deficit and hyperactivity which is the major problem of children in ADHD, but also effective for resistance, sociality, homology and communication. And we concluded that oriental medical treatments, which treats imbalance disorder of brain, were effective for treating ADHD.
