  • In order to investigate the effects of added magnetized water on the callus induction and plant regeneration in rice, 700G(G=Gauss) magnetized water were used. The callus in-duction and plant regeneration of rice in magnetized water treatment are different from the callus induction and plant regeneration in ionic water treatment. The rates of callus induction in magnetized water media were 27.3% in solid media and 15.4% in liquid which were compared to that of callus induction in the ionic water media 21 and 13.3%. Also plant regeneration frequency in the magnetic water media is 5.4% better than that of the ionic water media. And dissolved oxgen amount of magnetic culture media is from 0.1 ppm to 0.9 ppm more than that of ionic culture media. The pH value was increased with rising of water temperature, and the magnetic water was effected at increasing of pH value.

  • The BOD removal characteristics of submerged biofilters filled with three kinds of filter media respectively were experimentally examined with constant temperature, pH value and variable BOD loading and recirculation ratio. Obtained results are as follows; 1. The BOD removal ratio decreases with the increasing $BOD_5$ volumetric loading rate, and the loading rate for the BOD removal over 90% is lower thean $1.6kg{\cdot}BOD_5/m^3{\cdot}d$ for the plastic media of Netring and cubic wire meshes. This is a much large value than $0.3{\sim}0.8kg{\cdot}BOD_5/m^3{\cdot}d$ for conventional activated sludge process. The required submerged biofilter volume is found to be much samller than that of conventional activated sludge process. 2. The decreasing order of BOD removal is Netring (random plastic media), cubic wire meshes (plastic module), and then gravel (stone media). This is mainly due to the media characteristics such as void ratio, specific surface area and media shapes. 3. The $BOD_5$ removal rate increases with the recircuration ration, but the rate of increases becomes samaller as the recirculation ratio increases over 20. When $BOD_5$ loading is $1.8kg{\cdot}BOD_5/m^3{\cdot}d$, the required recirculation rationto obtain 90% $BOD_5$ removal is about 20 for Netring and it was about 30 for cubic wire meshes. 4. Reynold's Number increases with recirculation ratio, and the Reynold's Numbers corresponding to the recircuration ratio of 10~50 are less than 52, showing laminar up flows in the filter. The settled and effluent sludges increase with increase of Reynol's Number, and there are the definite Reynold's Numbers at which the settling sludge concentrations become nearly constant respectively in each filters. 5. In this submerged biofilter system, small volume of sludge hopper can be substituted for a separated settling tank.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of village community media in Jeju by looking at the value that it's participants have experienced in the production process. Therefore, this study focused on the creation and production process of village community media, the specific value reflected in this process as well as how to activate and operate it sustainably through in-depth interviews with 12 media participants in Jeju community. As a result of the analysis, firstly, we were able to see that the migrants who are not the indigenous became the center of village community media creation in Jeju and they felt very personal 'fun', 'enthusiasm' and 'satisfaction'. It was also completely open to access and participate in village community media and its contents were filled with stories of everyday life of village residents and hidden stories of old people in the village that were not recorded. The characteristic of the production process of village community media was the horizontal communication and it reflected well the opinions of individual media participants even if it had a joint meeting. Second, as a result of examining the values applied to the production process by village community media participants, they regarded the connection of communication by voluntary participation and restoration of communities through activation of communication in functionalism as an important value. Finally, as a result of examining the challenges and development plans for sustainable management of community media in Jeju, it was required the active participation of village residents, ensuring space for village community media, providing insufficient broadcasting equipment, and the budget support from local governments, etc. It was once again confirmed that the provision of a support system for the stable activities of local governments is an urgent task for sustainable village community media.

  • This study aims to find out tendencies of transition of family values in newspapers which were published in May. The study was conducted on content analysis of Chosun and Donga daily newspapers in odd dates of May from 1970 to 2014. Based on preceding research, family values were classified into sub areas such as 'Value of Family,' 'Value of Marriage,' 'Value of Children,' 'Value of Filial Piety' and 'Value of Sex Role.' The collected articles were classified into five sub areas. This study collected 288 articles considering overlap count. According to the study, the newspapers seem to be interested in 'Value of Family' and 'Value of Children', but not 'Value of Marriage'. And academic, social, political efforts to improve family life or raise a necessity to change family values can evoke mass media's interest about family values. Meanwhile, some newspaper articles appear to support an opinion that 'The Healthy Families Act' postulates a claim like 'the traditional family is a normal family'. It seems that newspapers misunderstood about 'The Healthy Families Act.' So we should judge what is more right between two opinions because mass media can reconstruct reality. The tendency of transition of family values is actually slight or the tendency of family values in newspapers cannot show actual family values. Moreover, we have to reconsider that highlighting just 'paternity' can make men overlook other roles in the household like caring for children or cleaning.

  • This study aimed to investigate bag purchase behaviors according to materialism value. The subjects were 443 male and female adult consumers in their 20s to 50s. The research method was a survey, and the questionnaire consisted of questions on materialism value, bag purchase behaviors, and demographic characteristics. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Cronbach's α, χ2 test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple range test were performed. The results of this study were as follows. First, materialism value was derived from three factors (happiness pursuit, possession-oriented, and success judgment). Second, subjects could be divided into three groups (happiness pursuit group, success judgment pursuit group, and immaterialism group) based on the materialism value variable. Third, the derived groups showed many differences in bag purchase behaviors. The happiness pursuit group considered all bag evaluation criteria factors (practicality, aesthetics, economy, symbolism) and bag purchasing information sources factors (mass media and personal sources) more than other groups, and showed a tendency to prefer select shops and complex shopping malls as bag purchasing places. In addition, the average annual cost and frequency of purchasing bags of this group were higher than those of other groups. The success judgment pursuit group considered symbolism as a bag evaluation criteria more than other groups, and considered personal sources as bag purchasing information sources more than mass media sources, and preferred luxury stores and department stores as bag purchasing places. On the other hand, the immaterialism group considered practicality and aesthetics as bag evaluation criteria and placed less importance on all information sources than other groups, and preferred Internet shopping malls as purchasing places. This group had the lowest average annual purchase cost and frequency among the three consumer groups. This study suggested that materialism value is a useful variable to segment male and female adult consumer markets effectively, and to understand the bag purchase behaviors of consumer groups divided by materialism value.

  • Through this research, we measure the data for several SUVs such as SUVLBM, SUVBW, and SUVBSA using volume of interest in order to enhance the diagnostic level in whole-body image for healthy examinees via F-18 FDG PET/CT. Maximum value, mean value, standard deviation, and threshold value for each SUVs are shown. The measurement of SUVs are carried out with 31 examinees who have taken whole-body examination with F-18 FDG PET/CT from July, 2012 to August, 2012. To secure the preciseness of measurement, we selected 26 healthy examinees as a subject of measurement according to diagnostic view of a nuclear-medical doctor. We see from the measurement of SUVs of PET/CT that the value of SUVBW is hightest and followed by SUVLBM and SUVBSA in turn regardless of the use of contrast media. By comparing the SUVLBM-maximum data for the group used contrast media with those for the group used no contrast media, there found a trend that the measured values increase when the contrast media are used. Among them, liver, aorta, lumbar-5, and Cerebellum exhibit significant difference (p<0.05). We conclude that our data for SUVs would be basic references in overall image interpretation, and hope that the research using VOI would be active.
