This study is an exploratory study to examine the relation between parents and children's smartphone usage time. The data from the 11th Korea Media Panel Survey conducted by the Korea Information Society Development Institute was used for empirical analysis. The findings revealed that parents' smartphone usage time and children's smartphone usage time are positively correlated, indicating that their smartphone use patterns share similarities as members of a family system. This study lays the foundation for future work to explain individual media use through family and media use environment.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the bidirectional relation between mobile phone dependency (MPD) and self-regulated learning (SRL) of early Korean adolescents in $4^{th}$, $6^{th}$ and $8^{th}$ grade, while taking into account gender differences. Methods: The study made use of panel data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study (KCYPS), and three waves of data collected from 2,264 adolescents were analyzed by means of autoregressive cross-lagged modeling. Results: The results can be summarized as follows. Firstly, MPD and SRL were consistently stable for adolescents in $4^{th}$, $6^{th}$ to $8^{th}$ grades. Secondly, a bidirectional relations between MPD and SRL were confirmed. In other words, there was a significant influence of a high level of MPD on a subsequent low level of SRL, and the high level of SRL also had a significant effect on the lower level of MPD across time. According to multi-group analysis, no gender differences were found in the relations between two constructs during the studied period. Conclusion: Findings highlighted not only the necessary media usage education but also parenting intervention strategies may help early adolescents to be prevented from negative effects of media usage and to enhance self-regulated learning ability. Based on the results, more implications were also discussed.

This study identifies correlations between the use of media devices, communication ability, and executive function difficulties for third grade students, as well as investigates the moderating effect of a child's communication ability. Data from the 10th (2017) Panel Study on Korean Children [PSKC] was employed (N=557). Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical regression were used along with SPSS 25.0(IBM Co., Armonk, NY, USA). The results were as follows. First, the executive function difficulties in the third-grade showed a significant positive correlation with media device use. While also, showing a negative correlation with a child's communication ability. Media devices use and communication ability has a significant negative correlation. Second, a child's communication ability has a moderating effect in relation to the use of media devices and executive function difficulties. The difficulty of executive function showed a reciprocal increase to a child's use of media devices and indicated a discriminatory effect of a child's communication ability. In conclusion, this study shows that communication ability is important as a personal factor for children who control the negative effects of media devices. Therefore, it is necessary to provide and support an environment for the development of a child's communication ability.

This study examined the longitudinal effects of media usage by early school-age children and of maternal parenting stress on children's school adjustment. The study focused on the mediating effect of executive function difficulty. Longitudinal data to examine the hypothetical model were drawn from the eighth (2015) through tenth (2017) waves of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) collected by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE). A total of 581 children (293 boys and 288 girls) and their mothers were included. Confirmatory factor analysis, structural equation model, and bootstrapping analysis were applied using SPSS 25.0 and Amos 26.0. The results are as follows. First, no significant correlation was found between early school-age children's media usage and maternal parenting stress. Second, neither media usage by early school-age children nor maternal parenting stress were found to directly affect children's school adjustment. Third, media usage by early school-age children and maternal parenting stress were shown to indirectly affect children's school adjustment via executive function difficulties. In other words, higher levels of media usage by early school-age children and maternal parenting stress during the first grade lead to greater executive function difficulties after a year, which, in turn, lead to a lower level of school adjustment in the third grade. This study indicates the need to develop practical support for the psychological wellbeing of mothers while they are performing their role as a parent and for children in maintaining suitable levels of media usage during early childhood.

Consumers' food consumption behavior is likely to be affected not only by structured data such as consumer panel data but also by unstructured data such as mass media and social media. In this study, a deep learning-based consumption prediction model is generated and verified for the fusion data set linking structured data and unstructured data related to food consumption. The results of the study showed that model accuracy was improved when combining structured data and unstructured data. In addition, unstructured data were found to improve model predictability. As a result of using the SHAP technique to identify the importance of variables, it was found that variables related to blog and video data were on the top list and had a positive correlation with the amount of paprika purchased. In addition, according to the experimental results, it was confirmed that the machine learning model showed higher accuracy than the deep learning model and could be an efficient alternative to the existing time series analysis modeling.
This study examines the regulatory issues and introduction problems of TV-betting data broadcasts in Korea by in-depth interview with a panel group. TV-betting data broadcast services of card games and horse racing games are widely in use in Europe and other parts of the world. In order to carry out the study, a demo program of TV-betting data broadcast in the OCAP(OpenCableTM Application Platform Specification) system environment, which is the data broadcasting standard for digital cable broadcasts in Korea was exposed to the panel group and then they were interviewed after watching and using the program. The results could be summarized as below. First of all, while TV-betting data broadcasts have many elements of entertainment, the respondents thought that it would be difficult to introduce TV-betting in data broadcasts as in overseas countries largely due to social factors. In addition, in order to introduce TV-betting data broadcasts, they suggested that excessive speculativeness must be suppressed through a series of regulatory system devices, such as by guaranteeing credibility of the media based on safe security systems for transactions, scheduling programs with effective time constraints to prevent the games from running too frequently, limiting the betting values, and by prohibiting access to games through set-top boxes of other data broadcast subscribers. The general consensus was that TV-betting could be considered for gradual introduction within the governmental laws and regulations that would minimize its ill effects. Therefore, the government should formulate long-term regulations and policies for data broadcasts. Once the groundwork is laid for safe introduction of TV-betting on data broadcasts within the boundary of laws and regulations, interactive TV games are expected to be introduced in Korea not only for added functionality of entertainment but also for far-ranging development of data broadcast and new media industries.
Image generation models have been applied in various fields to overcome data sparsity, time and cost issues. However, it has limitations in generating images from regular pattern images and detecting defects in such data. In this paper, we verified the feasibility of the image generation model to generate pattern images and applied it to data augmentation for defect detection of OLED panels. The data required to train an OLED defect detection model is difficult to obtain due to the high cost of OLED panels. Therefore, even if the data set is obtained, it is necessary to define and classify various defect types. This paper introduces an OLED panel defect data acquisition system that acquires a hypothetical data set and augments the data with an image generation model. In addition, the difficulty of generating pattern images in the diffusion model is identified and a possibility is proposed, and the limitations of data augmentation and defect detection data augmentation using the image generation model are improved.
The social media data and the broadcasting data related to onion as well as agri-food consumer panel data were collected and investigated if the amount of money spent to purchase onion in year 2014 when onion price plunged latest were correlated with the frequencies of onion-related keywords in the social media data and the broadcasting programs because onion price in year 2018 is expected to plunge due to overproduction and there has been needs to analyze impacts of social media and broadcasting program on onion purchase in the previous similar events, and identify potential factors that can promote onion consumption in advance. What we identified from our study include a) broadcasting news programs mentioning words "onion," were correlated with onion purchase with 3 - 6 weeks in advance; b) broadcasting entertainment programs mentioning words "onion and health," were correlated with onion purchase with 11 weeks in advance; c) blog mentioning words "onion and efficacy," were correlated with onion purchase with 5 weeks in advance. Our study provided a case on how social media and broadcasting programs could be analyzed for their effects on consumer purchase behavior using big data collection and analysis in the field of agriculture. We propose to use the findings from the study may be applied to promote onion consumption.
We successfully fabricated 4.7-inch organic thin film transistors array with $640{\times}480$ pixels on flexible substrate. All the processes were done by photolithography, spin coating and ink-jet printing. The OTFT-Electrophoretic (EP) pixel structure, based on a top gate OTFT, was fabricated. The mobility, ON/OFF ratio, subthreshold swing and threshold voltage of OTFT on flexible substrate are: 0.01 ^2/V-s, 1.3 V/dec, 10E5 and -3.5 V. After laminated the EP media on OTFT array, a panel of 4.7-inch $640{\times}480$ OTFT-EPD was fabricated. All of process temperature in OTFT-EPD is lower than $150^{\circ}C$. The pixel size in our panel is $150{\mu}m{\times}150{\mu}m$, and the aperture ratio is 50 %. The OTFT channel length and width is 20 um and 200um, respectively. We also used OTFT to drive EP media successfully. The operation voltages that are used on the gate bias are -30 V during the row data selection and the gate bias are 0 V during the row data hold time. The data voltages that are used on the source bias are -20 V, 0 V, and 20 V during display media operation.
