  • Desktop Documentary is a new documentary mode which uses a screen capture technology to complete the multitasking process of the creator who searches in the Internet Open Archive instead of shooting with a camera and remixes the selected multimedia contents using a computer interface. In this paper, we explore the desktop documentary that transforms potential archives into database narratives in the new media environment, converts cinematic mise-en-$sc{\grave{e}}ne$ into computational mise-en-interface, and transcends the boundaries between creation and criticism through creative mechanism as curation through stream of consciousness. We also examine the concept, type and characteristics of the desktop documentary which emerges since 2010s as an experimental attempt of new media art, a new hybrid genre of mainstream horror film, a new mode of fiction film, a new mockumentary style, and a new form of video essay and audiovisual critique.

  • Researches are underway to efficiently reduce the size of video data transmitted and stored in the image analysis process using deep learning-based machine vision technology. MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group) has newly established a standardization project called VCM (Video Coding for Machine) and is conducting research on video encoding for machines rather than video encoding for humans. We are researching a multitask that performs various tasks with one image input. The proposed pipeline does not perform all object detection of each task that should precede object detection, but precedes it only once and uses the result as an input for each task. In this paper, we propose a pipeline for efficient multitasking and perform comparative experiments on compression efficiency, execution time, and result accuracy of the input image to check the efficiency. As a result of the experiment, the capacity of the input image decreased by more than 97.5%, while the accuracy of the result decreased slightly, confirming the possibility of efficient multitasking.

  • This paper is a research of gaze analysis for measuring task switching behavior at multiple windows in GUI of windowing system. Previous methods that define area of interest for categorizing gaze had difficulties to define dynamic content that disappears or changes over time. On the other hand, this study suggests a new method to categorize gaze that defines Area of interest in a unit of window during the eye tracking experiment. In this paper, we constructed the conception of WOI(Window of Interest) in GUI of windowing system. Therefore, we developed a system using an eye tracker device and implemented a number of experiments. In addition, we analyzed the number of task switching and proportion of watched content. The method in the study comprehend from previous researches as it can measure and analyze the multi-tasking behaviors using multiple numbers of windows.

  • This study is a user experience research on the current usage of TV multiview and evaluating the usability. From traditional TV viewing to connecting laptop or mobile devices, the scope of using TV has expanded and evolved to multipurpose. Utilizing the multiview feature offers new TV experiences, but research on its usability has not been actively conducted yet. In this research, a case study and survey were held prior to usability testing to identify user needs and behavior of TV multiview. After reviewing the results, we ran a task-based usability testing and in-depth interview. As a result, users preferred different ways of accessing and using multiview based on their situation, and the current user interface needed improvement for easier, intuitive use. This study is expected to contribute to the development of improving user experience in TV multiview.

  • This study proposes a secure keypad structure that can adapt to screen changes in mobile devices equipped with stretchable display. For this purpose, we compared and analyzed the authentication methods applied to current rigid form factor smartphones with those applied to rollable and bendable display based smartphones, which are the previous stages of stretchable display. Based on the results of this analysis, we identified potential user convenience and security safety issues that may arise in the form factor structure for smart wallets, multitasking, screen expansion and media viewing, and gaming and entertainment applications where stretchable displays will be applied, then proposed a security keypad structure for these form factors. Our keypad structure provides enhanced user convenience and security compared to the structures applied in the smartphone environment based on the conventional rigid display form factor and rollable, bendable display form factor.
