  • We have successfully termed brown colored patterns inside of a transparent borosilicate glass generally known as BK7, laying the focus of near infrared Ti: sapphire femtosecond laser beam in the bulk BK7 glass. It is important to keep the laser power well below the damage threshold of BK7 in forming the color center. Thanks to the low laser power, there was no laser induced mechanical damage such as cracks or threads in the color formed area. From the absorbance spectrum and its gaussian fitting, we found the band gap of BK7, 4.21eV, and three absorption edges.

Nylon6,6/Polypyrrole 전도성 복합체의 제조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Preparation of Nylon6,6/Polypyrrole Conducting Composite)

  • Nylon6,6를 matrix로 사용하여 전도성 고분자인 polypyrrole (PPy)과의 전도성 복합체를 블렌딩 방법에 의하여 제조하였다. PPy를 화학적으로 중합시키는데 있어서 $FeCl_3$를 산화제로 사용하였으며, dopant로서 camphorsulfonic acid (CSA)와 dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA)와 같은 알킬 벤젠 술폰산을 사용하였다. 제조된 전도성 복합체에 대하여 dopant의 종류에 따라 또는 PPy의 함량에 따라 전기전도도 및 몰포로지 그리고 기계적 물성 등을 측정 분석하였다. PPy 착체의 함량이 증가할수록 전기전도도는 증가하였으며, 알킬사슬의 길이가 긴 DBSA로 도핑된 25 wt % PPy 착체와 nylon6,6 복합체의 전기전도도는 0.64 S/cm까지 향상되었다.

  • In CPB(Cold-Pad-Batch) dyeing, the rubber of the padder roll is influenced by the heat, chemical and mechanical influences and thus aging of the padder roll rubber occurs. This study presents an accelerated thermal aging test of the CPB padder roll rubber with strong alkali conditions. Using Arrhenius formula of the various property values for the various aging temperatures($80^{\circ}C$, $90^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$) of the padder roll, the accelerated life predictions could be calculated. The threshold value of the property was set at different values. The hardness was set at the point where 5% degradation occurs based on the actual use conditions, and the tensile strength was set at the point where 50% degradation occurs based on the general life prediction standards. From the results of the different physical properties at differing temperatures, the Arrhenius plot could be obtained. Through the usage of the Arrhenius Equation, significant duration expectation could be predicted, and the chemical aging behavior of the CPB padder roll could be found at the arbitrary and actual temperatures.

  • $Ar^{+}$레이저로 펌핑되는 Nd:glass레이저를 제작하여 그 특성을 조사하였다. 레이저 공진기는 오목거울 두 개와 98% 고반사 평면경, 그리고 Brewster 각도로 놓인 Nd:glass 의 이득 매질로 구성되었으며, 효율적인 펌핑을 위해서 $Ar^{+}$레이저 광선을 공진기 길이 방향으로 입사하여 공진모우드의 beam waist에서 초점이 맺히도록 하였다. Nd:glass의 열존도도가 작아서 흡수된 펌핑빔에 의해 생성된 잔열로 인한 매질의 손상이 우려되기 때문에 mechanical chopper 로 펌핑빔을 100Hz로 끊어서 입사하여 잔열의 생성을 줄였다. 1.5W로 펌핑될 때 Nd:glass 레이저의 출력은 70mW이었고 발진이 되는 문턱에서의 펌핑파워는 520mW이었으며 slope efficiency는 7.4%이었다.

Numerical and experimental assessments of focused microwave thermotherapy system at 925 MHz

  • This work investigated three-dimensional (3D) focused microwave thermotherapy (FMT) at 925 MHz for a human tissue mimicking phantom using the time reversal (TR) principle for musculoskeletal disorders. We verified the proposed TR algorithm by evaluating the possibility of 3D beam focusing through simulations and experiments. The simulation, along with the electromagnetic and thermal analyses of the human tissue mimicking phantom model, was conducted by employing the Sim4Life commercial tool. Experimental validation was conducted on the developed FMT system using a fabricated human tissue mimicking phantom. A truncated threshold method was proposed to reduce the unwanted hot spots in a normal tissue region, wherein a beam was appropriately focused on a target position. The validation results of the simulation and experiments obtained by utilizing the proposed TR algorithm were shown to be acceptable. Effective beam focusing at the desired position of the phantom could be achieved.

과하중에 의한 선박용 알루미늄 합금재의 부식피로 파괴지연에 관한 연구 (Study on the Retardation Effect of Overload on the Corrosion Fatigue Crack Propagation Al-Alloy used for the Shipbuilding)

  • Recently with the rapid development in marine and shipbuliding industries such as marine structures, ship and chemical plants, there occurs much interest in the study of corrosion fatigue characteristics which was closed up an important role in mechanical design. In this study, the 5086 Al-alloy was tested by use of rotary bending fatigue tester. The retardation effect of overload on the corrosion fatigue crack propagation in sea environment was quantitatively studied. 1) Retardation effect of corrosion fatigue crack propagation is most eminent when overload ratio is 1.52, overload magnitude corresponds to about 77% and 55% of yield strength and tensile strength respectively. 2) After overload ratio 1.52 was used, retardation of corrosion fatigue crack growth rate is largely retarded and quasi-threshold stress intensity factor range($\Delta\textrm{K}_{th}$) appears. 3) According to m of experimental constant, retardation effect of corrosion fatigue crack propagation corresponds to about 25% of constant stress amplitude when overload ratio is 1.52. 4) When overload ratio 1.52 was used, retardation parameter (RP) decreases to about 0.43 and corrosion sensitivity (S)decreses to about 2.1.

  • Recently the steel parts used for automiles and trains are required to be used under higher stress than ever before in need of the weight down. However, threr are a lot of problems with developing such of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And got the following characteristics from crack growth test carried out stress ratio. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the Un-peening material. And Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peening processed operate resistance force of fatigue. So we cam obtain fallowings. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate on stage II is conspicuous with the size of compressive residual stress and is dependent of Paris equation. (2) Although the maximum compressive residual stress is deeply and widely formed from surface, fatigue life does not improve than when maximum compressive residual stress is formed in surface. (3) The threshold stress intensity factor range is increased with increasing compressive residual stress.

  • 기계적 진동 주파수와 파형, 2점식별 thresho1d 치, 접촉자의 크기에 대한 피체 진동촉각의 기능적 성질을 심리물리실험에 의해 연구했다. 이의 실험 결과를 기초로 하여 압전 진동소자를 이용한 진동촉각 자극장치를 제작하여 한글을 인식하기 위한 맹인용 시각보조 장치로써 제안했다. 촉각출력상은 200 Hz의 구형파에 의해 진동하는 8열×l행의 소형 진동자열에 의해 집게 손가락에 표시했다. NOVA미니컴퓨터의 제어에 의해 한글 자모 24자중 하나를 택하여 진동자열의 8점에 왼쪽에서 오른쪽으로 제시하도록 했다. 한글 식별률실험은 설계한 실험시스템에 의해 학습효과없이 행했으며 측정된 평균식별률은 90%였다.

Loss of strength in asbestos-cement water pipes due to leaching

  • Asbestos-cement is a material with valuable strength and durability. It was extensively used for water distribution pipes across the world from the 1950s until the early 1980s. The network of pipes in this case study dates from the 1970s, and after more than 30 to 40 years of service, some pipes have been found to break under common service pressure with no apparent reason. A set of mechanical tests was performed including bending, compression, pressure and crushing tests. Microscopy analysis was also used to understand the material behaviour. Tests showed that there was a clear loss of strength in the pipes and that the safety factor was under the established threshold in most of the specimens. Microscopy results showed morphological damage to the pipes. The loss of strength was attributed to a leaching effect. Leaching damages the cement matrix and reduces the frictional interfacial shear stress.

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industries is requiring high strength of components. Therefore this requirement is accomplished as the process of shot-peening method that the compressive residual stress is made on the metal surface as one of various improvement methods. Special research is, therefore, needed about compressive residual stress on the metal surface in the process of shot-peening method. Therefore, in this paper the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in environmental condition(temperature) and mechanical condition(shot velocity, stress ratio) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. By using the methods mentioned above, the following conclusions have been drawn. (1) The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the shot-peened material was lower than that of the un-peened one. In high temperature range. fatigue crack growth rate decreased with increasing temperature range, while fatigue crack growth rate increased by decreasing temperature in low temperature. (2) Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot-peened material than in the un-peened material. And compressive residual stress of surface on the shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation.
