소듐냉각고속로 붕괴열교환기의 고온 설계 및 건전성 평가 (High-Temperature Design and Integrity Evaluation of Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactor Decay Heat Exchanger)

  • 본 연구에서는 소듐냉각 고속로 붕괴열교환기(DHX)의 고온 설계 및 크리프-피로 손상 평가를 수행하였다. 제 4 세대 소듐냉각 고속로의 능동 및 피동 잔열제거계통에 설치되는 DHX와 한국원자력연구원의 STELLA-1 시험루프에 설치된 DHX에 대해 상세설계 및 3D 유한요소해석을 수행하고, 동 결과에 기초하여 고온설계 기술기준인 ASME Section III Subsection NH와 RCC-MR 코드를 따라 크리프-피로 손상평가를 수행하였다. 크리프-피로 손상평가 결과에 기초하여 두 설계기준에 대해 비교 분석하고, 설계 기술기준의 보수성 이슈에 대해 토의하였다.

고온화학세정환경에서 20 % EDTA 용액이 결함 전열관 (Alloy600)에 미치는 영향 (Effect of 20 % EDTA Aqueous Solution on Defective Tubes (Alloy600) in High Temperature Chemical Cleaning Environments)

  • The transport and deposition of corrosion products in pressurized water nuclear reactor (PWR) steam generators have led to corrosion (SCC, denting etc.) problems. Lancing, mechanical cleaning and chemical cleaning have been used to reduce these problems. The methods of lancing and mechanical cleaning have limitations in removing corrosion products due to the structure of steam generator tubes. But high temperature chemical cleaning (HTCC) with EDTA is the most effective method to remove corrosion products regardless of the structure. However, EDTA in chemical cleaning aqueous solution and chemical cleaning environments affects the integrity of materials used in steam generators. The nuclear power plants have to perform the pre-test (also called as qualification test (QT)) that confirms the effect on the integrity of materials after HTCC. This is one of the series studies that assess the effect, and this study determines the effects of 20 % EDTA aqueous solution on defective tubes in high temperature chemical cleaning environments. The depth and magnitude of defects in steam generator (SG) tubes were measured by eddy current test (ECT) signals. Surface analysis and magnitude of defects were performed by using SEM/EDS. Corrosion rate was assessed by weight loss of specimens. The ECT signals (potential and depth %) of defective tubes increased marginally. But the lengths of defects, oxides on the surface and weights of specimens did not change. The average corrosion rate of standard corrosion specimens was negligible. But the surfaces on specimens showed traces of etching. The depth of etching showed a range on the nanometer. After comprehensive evaluation of all the results, it is concluded that 20 % EDTA aqueous solution in high temperature chemical cleaning environments does not have a negative effect on defective tubes.

딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 설계 및 성능평가 (Design and Performance Evaluation of Dimpled EGR Cooler)

  • 본 논문은 자동차 디젤엔진의 EGR 시스템에 사용되는 EGR 냉각기의 열교환 효율에 관한 것으로 배기가스의 냉각수 사이의 열교환을 촉진시키기 위한 방법으로 딤플형 EGR 냉각기를 설계 및 그 성능을 평가하였다. 개발초기 단계에서 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 기존 스파이럴 타입의 EGR 냉각기와 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 전열면적을 비교하였으며, 균질화 기법을 이용한 유한요소해석을 통하여 딤플형 EGR 냉각기의 구조 건전성을 평가하였다. 또한, 딤플형 열교환 튜브의 생산공정-딤플성형, edge bending, center v-notch bending, 압착, 플라즈마 용접-을 체계화하였다. 최종적으로 본 연구를 통하여 딤플형 EGR 냉각기를 개발하였으며, 그 성능을 검증하였다.

원주방향 균열 존재 증기발생기 전열관에 미치는 지지판의 굽힘제한 영향 (Restrained Bending Effect by the Support Plate on the Steam Generator Tube with Circumferential Cracks)

  • The steam generator in a nuclear power plant is a large heat exchanger that uses heat from a reactor to generate steam to drive the turbine generator. Rupture of a steam generator tube can result in release of fission products to environment outside. Therefore, an accurate integrity assessment of the steam generator tubes with cracks is of great importance for maintaining the safety of a nuclear power plant. The steam generator tubes are supported at regular intervals by support plates and rotations of the tubes are restrained. Although it has been reported that the limit load for a circumferential crack is significantly affected by boundary condition of the tube, existing limit load solutions do not consider the restraining effect of support plate correctly. In addition, there are no limit load solutions for circumferential cracks in U-bend region with the effect of the support plate. This paper provides detailed limit load solutions for circumferential cracks in top of tube sheet and the U-bend regions of the steam generator tube with the actual boundary conditions to simulate the restraining effect of the support plate. Such solutions are developed based on three dimensional finite element analyses. The resulting limit load solutions are given in a polynomial form, and thus can be simply used in practical integrity assessment of the steam generator tubes.

지능형 복합재 구조물에 대한 광섬유센서의 적용에 관한 연구 (A study on the application of optical fiber sensors to smart composite structures)

  • 본 연구에서는 광섬유센서를 지능형 복합재 구조물에 적용하기 위한 기초적 연구의 일부로서, 구조물내에서의 광섬유센서의 건전성 평가와 주조물에 유발된 변현 및 손상에 대한 광섬유센서의 신호검출 거동을 연구 검토하였다. 첫째로, 최약체결파손이론에 거한 광섬유센서의 누적파손분포를 비교하고 수정계수를 도입함으로써, 굽힘시험이 인장시험을 대신할 수 있음을 보였다. 실험에 의해 Weibull 파라미터를 얻고, 굽힘시험에서 유도된 누적파손분포에 적용될 수정계수를 구했다. 열처리한 강섬유센서와 열처리하지 않은 광섬유센서의 인장강도 평균값을 비교함으로써 복합재료 적층관의 경화 사이클 동안 열처리에 의해 야기되는 광섬유센서의 건전성을 평가하였다. 둘째로, 직교적층판과 일방향적층판의 인장시험에서 측정된 시편의 응력-변형률과 삽입된 광섬유센서를 통과한 레이저신호 세기와의 관계를 검토하고, 광섬유센서를 이용한 효과적 손상검출 가능성을 연구 검토하였다.

VEHICLE DYNAMIC SIMULATION USING A NONLINEAR FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS CODE

  • The structural integrity of either a passenger car or a light truck is one of the basic requirements for a full vehicle engineering and development program. The results of the vehicle product performance are measured in terms of ride and handling, durability, Noise/Vibration/Harshness (NVH), crashworthiness, and occupant safety. The level of performance of a vehicle directly affects the marketability, profitability and, most importantly, the future of the automobile manufacturer. In this study, the Virtual Proving Ground (VPG) approach has been developed to simulate dynamic nonlinear events as applied to automotive ride & handling. The finite element analysis technique provides a unique method to create and analyze vehicle system models, capable of including vehicle suspensions, powertrains, and body structures in a single simulation. Through the development of this methodology, event-based simulations of vehicle performance over a given three-dimensional road surface can be performed. To verify the predicted dynamic results, a single lane change test was performed. The predicted results were compared with the experimental test results, and the feasibility of the integrated CAE analysis methodology was verified.

  • In this paper, fatigue tests were carried out to study the behavior of growth and coalescence of multi-surface cracks which were initiated at the semi-circular surface notches, and a simulation program was developed to predict their growth and coalescence behavior. By comparing the experimental result with those of the simulation based on SPC(surface point connection), ASME and BSI(British Standards Institution) conditions, we tried to enhance the reliance and integrity of structures. This shows that the simulation result has utility for fatigue life prediction.

원통 플런지 연삭시 연삭력에 관한 실험적연구 (Monitoring of Grinding Force in Plunge Grinding Process)

  • Cylindrical plunge grinding is widely used for final machining process of precision parts such as automobile, aircraft, measurement units. But in order to make parts which have high precision accuracy and high surface integrity, it is necessary to consider grinding characteristics due to accumulation phenomena of grinding wheel in plunge grinding process. In this study, in order to examine closely plunge grinding process, grinding power, grinding force, real depth of cut are monitored in transient state, steady state and spark out state. As the result, it is shown that grinding power and force are affected by dressing condition, depth of cut and speed ratio and that there exist threshold grinding force and it also affected by dressing condition. 자긴가공된 두꺼운 실린더의 피로균열 전파수명평가 (Fatigue crack propagation life evaluation of an autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder)

  • To ensure the structural integrity of the autofrettaged thick-walled cylinder subjected to cyclic internal pressure loading, the fatigue crack propagation life of the cylinder was evaluated. Stress intensity factors of the external cracked cylinder due to internal pressure and autofrettage loadings were calculated using the finite element method. The fatigue crack propagation lives of the cylinder based on the fracture mechanics concepts were predicted and compared to the experimental fatigue lives evaluated from the C-shaped simulation specimens. There were good correlations between the predicted and experimental fatigue lives within a factor of 3 for the single and double grooved C-shaped simulation specimens. Predicted fatigue crack propagation lives of the double grooved cylinders were about 1.5-5 times longer than those of the single grooved cylinders depending on the levels of autofrettage.

A Fault Detection Method of Redundant IMU Using Modified Principal Component Analysis

  • A fault detection process is necessary for high integrity systems like satellites, missiles and aircrafts. Especially, the satellite has to be expected to detect faults autonomously because it cannot be fixed by an expert in the space. Faults can cause critical errors to the entire system and the satellite does not have sufficient computation power to operate a large scale fault management system. Thus, a fault detection method, which has less computational burden, is required. In this paper, we proposed a modified PCA (Principal Component Analysis) as a powerful fault detection method of redundant IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). The proposed method combines PCA with the parity space approach and it is much more efficient than the others. The proposed fault detection algorithm, modified PCA, is shown to outperform fault detection through a simulation example.
