A Technique and software of analysis and control for measurement process

  • In this paper, a two-section method for measuring is introduced and the variation sources of measurement process are analysed. Measuring is a special process in general process. Various variation source must be firstly decomposed so that the statistical distribution law of measuring process can be established, and then implement monitoring control of the measuring process. A special method to obtain the measuring variation is discussed, and a monitoring control technique for measuring process is studied based statistical distribution. Towards the end, we briefly introduce software design for the analysis and control of a measurement process.

  • It is impossible to precat the behavior of ground soil and structure accurately during underground construction in urban area or excavation in soft ground area because of difference between the assumed design condition and the actual site condition. Therefore, it must be managed by measuring system and correct the difference by real data. Large scale under ground construction in urban area like a seoul subway project has needed for Intelligent Construction technique, a field of the Engineering Contractor. The automated measuring system is developed for the technique. It is described that the procedure and the method of measuring work with application of the automated measuring system.

  • One of the ever-increasing demands on the performances of heterodyne interferometers is to improve the measurement resolution, of which current state-of-the-art reaches the region of sub-nanometers. We propose a new scheme of phase-measuring electronics that reduces the measurement resolution without further increase in clock speed. Our scheme adopts a super-heterodyne technique that lowers the original beat frequency to a level of 1 MHz by mixing it with electrically generated reference signal. The technique enables us to measure the phase of Doppler shift with a resolution of 1.58 nanometer at a sampling rate of 1 MHz. To avoid the undesirable decrease in the maximum measurable speed caused by the lowered beat frequency, a special from of frequency up-down counting technique is combined with the super-heterodyning. This alloys performing required phase unwrapping simply by using programmable digital gates without 2$\pi$ ambiguities up to the maximum velocity of 2.35 m/s.

  • Objectives : This study was carried out to investigate the effects of "Yangmuji Anchu Traction Technique" on Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Patient. Methods : The therapies were Chuna("Yangmuji Anchu Traction Technique"), acupuncture treatment, Carthami-Semen Herbal Acupuncture treatment and herbal medicine. We estimated the effects of treatment by measuring from a lower front teeth to upper front teeth in open mouth, measuring a gap of center line on front teeth in open mouth. And by measuring Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and Patient Global Assessment(PGA) before and after treatment. Results : After treatment, we confirmed these improvements : the length measuring from a lower front teeth to upper front teeth in open mouth and the gap of center line on front teeth in open mouth was improved in all cases. Also Visual Analog Scale(VAS) was improved in all cases. Conclusions : These results suggested that "Yangmuji Anchu Traction Technique" effected for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Patient.

A New Method for Measuring Fiber Length and Fiber Coarseness Using Image Analysis Technique (화상분석법을 응용한 섬유장 및 섬유 조도 측정법 개발)

  • A new method for measuring fiber length and fiber coarseness was developed using image analysis technique. Measured fibers were transferred to a glass slide on a filter paper placed on a wire of the laboratory paper machine. After staining the fibers on the slide, mean fiber lengths and coarseness were measured by a commercial image analysis software, named KS400. The resultant data obtained from the image analysis displayed a close correlation with those from FS-200 and also showed excellent reproducibility as well as those from FS-200. The length of synthetic fibers over 10 mm long could be readily measured by this new analysis technique. Finally, a substantial improvement in precision for measuring fiber length and coarseness was made with less operator's effort for a given time.

  • This paper describes a 3-dimensional measuring method for cylindrical huge ingot pressed with forging machine. Target ingot we consider here is rotated around a fixed axis during measurement. Using an image processing technique every profile of cross-section is obtained, and 3D image is reconstructed. One method to calibrate the system setting is also presented. Experimental results reveal that the method are applicable and the algorithm is feasible.

  • In this paper, a new method for colour measuring is presented using fuzzy modeling technique. The fuzzy and polynomial inferences are used for obtaining RGB characteristic curve. The eight RGB real data from expert dye-stuff manufacturer, are simulated. The results show that the proposed method will is more excellent than other methods, In the colour measuring process of textile field.

A new experimental technique on the tubular joints of spatial grid structures

  • A new experimental technique was developed on the plate-inserted welded tubular joints of spatial grid structures. In the experimental technique, a microcomputer controlling instrument of moire intervention (MCIMI) was adopted. A test was designed on the plate-inserted welded tubular joints of spatial grid structures to show the effectiveness of the MCIMI technique. Both traditional electrical measuring technique and MCIMI technique were employed in the test. The test results showed that the MCIMI technique was feasible in the case of the complicated tests on steel structures. The MCIMI technique not only implemented the limitation of traditional electrical measuring technique, but also improved the accuracy of the test. According to the test results, we further examined the plate-inserted welded tubular joints in the cable-stayed spatial grids of the Binhai International Convention & Exhibition in Tianjin, China. The analysis showed the joints are safely designed with adequate conservatism. The research provided a new application of MCIMI in the field of large-scale structure engineering.

Accuracy evaluation of diagnostic parameters estimated by uroflowmetry technique measuring hydraulic pressure (수압측정 방식의 요류검사 진단매개변수의 정확도 평가)

  • Uroflowmetry is of great convenience to diagnose benign prostate hypertrophy common in aged men. The urinary flow rate is obtained by weight measurement using load cell, however, sensitive to impact noise. An alternative technique was recently proposed to measure hydraulic pressure instead of weight and demonstrated to introduce significantly reduced noise. In this paper, we described the measured diagnostic parameters between the weight and pressure measuring techniques in 10 normal men. The weight and pressure signals were simultaneously acquired during urination, converted into urine volumes, then differentiated to obtain flow rate signals, which showed very similar waveforms. Diagnostic parameters evaluated by pressure measuring technique were well correlated with the standard weight measuring technique (correlation coefficient > 0.99). Therefore, the new uroflowmetry based on hydraulic pressure measurement can provide accurate diagnostic parameters, which would be clinically valid.
