  • Spherically expanding flames are used to measure flame speeds, which are derived the corresponding laminar flame speeds at zero stretch. Dimethyl Ether-Air mixtures at high pressure are studied over an extensive range of equivalence ratios. The classical shadowgraph technique is used to detect the reaction zone. In analytical methodology the optimization process using least mean squares is performed to extract the laminar flame speeds. Laminar flame speeds are compared with results reported in the literature.

정적연소기에서 라디칼 유도분사를 이용한 희박혼합기의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (1) (A Study on the Combustion Characteristics of Lean Mixture by Radicals Induced Injection in a Constant Volume Combustor (1))

  • An experimental study was carried out to obtain the fundamental data about the effects of radicals induced injection on premixture combustion. A constant volume combustor divided to the sub-chamber and the main chamber was used. The volume of the sub-chamber is set up to occupy less than 1.5% of that of whole combustion chamber. Radial twelve narrow passage holes are arranged between the main chamber and the sub-chamber. The products including radicals generated by spark ignition in the sub-chamber will derive the simultaneous multi-point ignition in the main chamber. While the equivalence ratio of pre-mixture in the main chamber and the sub-chamber is uniform. We have examined the effects of the sub-chamber volume, the diameter of passage hole, and the equivalence ratio on the combustion characteristics by means of burning pressure measurement and flame visualization. In the case of radical ignition method(RI), the overall turning time including the ignition delay became very short and the maximum burning pressure was slightly increased in comparison with those of the conventional spark ignition method(SI), that is, single chamber combustion without the sub-chamber. The combustible lean limit by RI method is extended to more ER=0.25 than that by SI method. Therefore the decrease of every emission including NOx and the improvement of fuel consumption is anticipated due to lean burn.

  • Experimental investigations were carried out in an atmospheric pressure, optically accessible and laboratory-scale dump combustor operating on methane gas. The objective of this study was to obtain the phase-resolved gas temperatures at different phases of the oscillating pressure cycle during unstable combustion. CARS temperature measurements were made at several spatial locations under lean premixed conditions to get the information on temperature field within the combustor. Also the effect of incomplete fuel-air mixing on phase-resolved temperature fluctuation was investigated. Results including phase-resolved averaged temperature, normalized standard deviation and temperature probability distribution functions (PDFs) were provided in this paper. Temperature PDFs gave an insight on the flame behavior. And strong correlation between phase-resolved temperature profile and pressure cycle was observed. Results of the phase-resolved high temperature gave an additional information on the perturbation of equivalence ratio at flame as well as the effect of mixing quality on NOx emission characteristics.

예혼합 연소기에서의 화염 전달 함수 측정 (Flame Transfer Function Measurement in a Premixed Combustor)

  • An experimental study of the flame response in a turbulent premixed combustor has been conducted with room temperature, atmospheric pressure inlet conditions using premixed natural gas. The fuel is premixed with the air upstream of a choked inlet to avoid equivalence ratio fluctuations. Therefore the observed flame response is only the result of the imposed velocity fluctuations, which are produced using a variable speed siren. Measurements are made of the velocity fluctuation in the nozzle using hot wire anemometry and of the heat release fluctuation in the combustor using chemiluminescence emission. The results are analyzed to determine the phase and gain of the flame transfer function as a function of the modulation frequency. Of particular interest is the effect of flame structure on the flame response predictions and measurements. The results show that both the gain and the phase of flame transfer function are closely associated with the flame length and structure, which is dependent upon the upstream flow perturbation as well as equivalence ratio in the current study.

천연가스의 연소속도 측정에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the burning velocity measurement of natural gas)

  • Static and non-static flame methods were used to measure the laminar burning velocity of methane, ethane and natural gas. The flame slot angle and velocity of unburned gas mixture were determined by Schlieren method and LDV, respectively, for static flame. The diameter of nozzle was selected as 11 mm. The experimental results containing the stretch effect showed that the maximum burning velocities were 41.5 for natural gas, 40.8 for methane and 43.4 cm/sec for ethane on equivalence ratio of 1.1. Constant volume combustion chamber was also used for non-static flame. The propagation process of flame front was visualized by high speed camera during constant pressure. The maximum burning velocity of natural gas was determined as 42.1 cm/sec on equivalence ratio of 1.15.

석탄가스화 합성가스(H2/CO)-공기 예혼합화염의 층류 연소속도에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Laminar Burning Velocity of Synthetic Gas of Coal Gasification(H2/CO)-Air Premixed Flames)

  • Syngas laminar burning velocity measurements were carried out at atmospheric pressure and ambient temperature using the Bunsen flame configuration with nozzle burner as a fundamental study on flame stability of syngas fuel. Representative syngas mixture compositions ($H_2$:CO) such as 25:75%, 50:50% and 75:25% and equivalence ratios from 0.5 to 1.4 have been conducted. Average laminar burning velocities have been determined by the stabilized nozzle burner flames using the angle method, radical surface area method and compared with the data obtained from the other literatures. And the results of each experimental methodologies in the various composition ratios and equivalence ratios were coincided with the result of numerical simulation. Especially, it was confirmed that there was necessary to choice a more accurate measurement methodology even the same static flame method for the various composition ratios of syngas fuel including hydrogen. Also, it was reconfirmed that the laminar burning velocities gradually increased with the increasing of hydrogen content in a fuel mixture.

  • 마그네슘 입자 군 연소 실험 장치를 제작하고 연소 실험을 수행하였다. 예혼합 화염용 버너에서 마그네슘 입자의 공급 질유량을 변화시켰을 때 점화 지연시간의 변화를 확인하였다. 마그네슘의 질량유량을 증가시킴에 따라 점화 지연시간이 단축됨을 확인하였다. 또한 마그네슘 입자 크기 별, 혼합비에 따라 변화시켰을 군 연소 화염 온도를 two wavelength pyrometry 를 이용하여 군 연소 화염온도를 측정하였다. 입자 크기별 군 연소 화염온도는 거의 비슷함을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 당량비에 따른 화염온도의 측정을 통해 연소되는 마그네슘 연소화염 분포의 특성을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 항공유가 극초음속 비행체용 능동냉각시스템의 냉원으로 사용되면서 흡열분해된 후의 연소특성을 확인하는 연구의 일환으로, 흡열분해 모사연료에 대한 층류화염 전파속도를 측정하였다. 흡열분해 모사연료 2종(SF-1, 2)을 제조하고 분젠버너 시험장치를 제작하여 층류화염속도를 측정한 결과 기준연료(RF)와 비교해 보면 전체적으로 높은 당량비에서 화염전파속도가 빠르게 나타나고 있으며, 특히 SF-1이 SF-2 및 RF보다 훨씬 높은 당량비에서 최대 속도를 가짐을 확인하였다.

  • This paper describes a CCM key comparison of low absolute-pressure standards at seven National Measurement Institutes that was carried out during the period March 1998 to September 1999 in order to determine their degrees of equivalence at pressures in the range 1 Pa to 1000 Pa. The Korea Research Institutes of Standards and Science(KRISS) participated from 10 Pa to 1000 Pa pressure range in 1999. The primary standards, which represent two principal measurement methods, included five liquid-column manometers and four static expansion systems. The transfer standard package consisted of four high-precision pressure transducers, two capacitance diaphragm gauges to provide high resolution at low pressures, and two resonant silicon gauges to provide the required calibration stability.

  • 안테나 복사 특성을 효율적으로 측정할 수 있는 근역장측정 방법의 개선을 논한다. 본 논문에서 직각좌표계에 바탕을 둔 원통주사법의 공식을 제안한다. 제안된 원통주사법 알고리즘을 미소 쌍극자 안테나의 정확한 해와 비교한다. 본 논문의 접근법이 대부분의 안테나 측정에 효과적임을 수치해석 결과에서 알 수 있다.
