  • This paper proposes a new data hiding scheme for binary image authentication with minimizing the distortion of host image. Based on the Hamming-Code-Based data embedding algorithm, the proposed scheme makes it possible to embed authentication information into host image with only flipping small number of pixels. To minimize visual distortion, the proposed scheme only modifies the values of the flippable pixels that are selected based on Yang et al's flippablity criteria. In addition to this, by randomly shuffling the bit-order of the authentication information to be embedded, only the designated receiver, who has the secret key that was used for data embedding, can extract the embedded data. To show the superiority of the proposed scheme, the two measurement metrics, the miss detection rate and the number of flipped pixels by data embedding, are used for the comparison analysis between the proposed scheme and the previous schemes. As a result of analysis, it has been shown that the proposed scheme flips smaller number of pixels than the previous schemes to embed the authentication information of the same bit-length. Moreover, it has been shown that the proposed scheme causes smaller visual distortion and more resilient against recent steg-analysis attacks than the previous schemes by the experimental results.

  • In order to obtain a reasonable value for the thermal load to use in designs, a bridge specimen of a full-size steel box girder (bridge) was manufactured. The temperature data were measured at 21 points in the bridge specimen and 19 points in the steel box bridge. The steel box bridge specimen was installed in a similar direction to a nearby real one. The maximum effective temperatures in the bridge specimen and bridge were calculated for air temperatures in the range of $24^{\circ}C{\sim}38^{\circ}C$. The maximum effective temperature of the bridge specimen and bridge showed correlations of approximately 93.2% and 87.4%, respectively, compared with the Euro code. The maximum effective temperature calculated in this study was very close to the Euro code and the maximum temperature of the Highway Bridge Design Criteria. When the effective temperature obtained in the study is combined with the highest temperature calculated from the Contour map for each region, the design criteria for the thermal load in domestic bridge design, taking into consideration the characteristics of each region, can be established.

  • Most landslides in the country are shallow failures triggered by intense rainfall. Many researchers have revealed the possibility of predicting shallow failure through the volumetric water content (VWC). This study examined how to determine shallow failure using the gradient characteristics of the volumetric water content. For this, flume experiments were conducted using weathered granite soil. To confirm the saturation state of the surface layer under a rainfall intensity of 30 and 50mm/hr, VWC sensors were installed at depths of 10 and 20 cm on the upper, middle and lower slope. The test results showed that a shallow failure determination using VWC could be applied limitedly according to the slope degree. In addition, the effective cumulative rainfall due to the rainfall infiltration velocity is considered the main factor for the failure time. The failure prediction using the gradient of the VWC depends on the installation location and depth of the sensor. According to the experimental data, the measured value at 20 cm below the slope was most effective. Therefore, an analysis method of VWC and the method of selecting the installation location confirmed through this study can provide important data for presenting the measurement criteria using VWC in the future.

  • Residual materials such as veterinary drugs, environmental contaminants, and pesticides are affecting food safety. High resolution techniques and quality controls are needed to analyze these materials from part per million to part per trillion quantities in food. In order to achieve quality results, standardized methods and techniques are required. Our laboratories were prepared to obtain a certificate of accreditation for ISO/IEC 17025 in the analytical criteria of animal drugs, dioxins, pesticides, and heavy metals. ISO together with IEC has built a strategic partnership with the World Trade Organization with the common goal of promoting a free and fair global trading system. ISO collaborates with the United Nations Organization and its specialized agencies and commissions, particularly those involved in the harmonization of regulations and public policies including the World Health Organization and CODEX Alimentarius for food safety measurement, management and traceability. Our goal was to have high quality analysts, proper analytical methods, good laboratory facilities, and safety systems within guidelines of ISO/IEC 17025. All staff members took requirement exams. We applied proficiency tests in the analysis of veterinary drugs (nitrofuran metabolites, sulfonamide and tetracyclines), dioxins, organophosphorus pesticides, and heavy metals (Cd, Pb, As) to the Food Analysis Performance Assessment Scheme (FAPAS) at Central Science Laboratory, Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), England. The results were very satisfactory. All documents were prepared, including system management, laboratory management, standard operational procedures for testing, reporting, and more. The criteria encompassed the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025:1999. Finally, the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) accredited our testing laboratories in accordance with the provisions of Article 23 of the National Standards Act. The accreditation will give us the benefit of becoming a regional reference laboratory in Asia.

  • Pedestrian performance measurement has generally used the average values of pedestrian volumes and speeds from a sample, although each individual's pedestrian behavior of the sample is mainly affected by his/her socio-economic and physical characteristics. In particular, if such individual characteristics of the sample have wide variations, the average values are hard to be representative. In this respect, this study found that a platoon of pedestrians had a major effect on their pedestrian flows on sidewalks. The more platoons was mixed on pedestrian roads, the lower pedestrian flow rate was. The indexes such as a pedestrian flow rate and an occupancy space are typically calculated by pedestrian volumes in a given period of time regardless of the existence of a platoon. However, it is plausible that a pedestrian speed and a level of pedestrian congestion can be different under the equal amount of pedestrian volumes. Therefore, this study suggested criteria for determining level of service for pedestrian considering platoon effects and confirmed that two places had different pedestrian LOSs because of the platoon effects, even if they showed the same pedestrian flow rate.

  • With technological advances in automatic hematology analyzers, primary and screening differential counts of white blood cells (WBC) are done with automatic hematology analyzers. They are using different measurement and analysis principles, so differences in WBC differentials and WBC morphology flag exist. This study was carried out to analyze WBC differential counts and WBC morphology flags comparing them with the manual method. Patient EDTA samples in Vacutainer requested for WBC differentials were analyzed with XE-2100. And those samples with suspect flags messages index over 100 were selected and were analyzed with ADVIA-120. Peripheral blood smear film was subsequently made. Three investigators counted 200 cells each (600 cells) in 111 Wright-Giemsa stained blood films. Between two automatic hematology analyzers, neutrophil, lymphocyte, eosinophil, and monocyte showed good correlations, but basophil had moderate correlation. Among automatic hematology analyzers and manual count, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and eosinophil had good correlations, but monocyte had moderate correlation. XE-2100 had higher monocyte, which was due to atypical lymphocyte and myeloblast. LUC in ADVIA-120 was not due to monocyte in XE-2100. Morphology flagging rates were 146.9% in XE-2100 and was 93.2% in ADVIA-120. Positive predictive values of morphology flag were 58.2% in XE-2100 and 54.4% in ADVIA-120. Flags such as atypical lymphocyte, immature granulocyte, and left shift had higher predictive values and those such as N-RBC, platelets clump, and blast had lower ones. Between automatic hematology analyzers, WBC differentials showed good correlations. Predictive values for morphology flags can be variable with changing criteria. Reviewing criteria for WBC differentials and morphology flags should be established in each laboratory with regards to size of laboratory and patients it serves.

  • At the spots of enterprises experiencing rapid environmental changes, necessity for ceaseless managemental innovation is raised. We can't deny that management quality is also a part of such managemental innovation. Introduction of management quality by an organization is different from introduction of other individual innovative techniques. Management quality is not one time project but complete historical change program to be pursued continuously. Furthermore, it must be understood as a strategic 'Quality Journey' looking for far future of an organization. Malcolm Baldrige Model has been increasingly used in Korea as a global standard for management quality. The model, however, has shown a number of limitations in application due to nonsystematic elements in the implementation process. The deployment process of the model should be detailed through a real world case study. In this research, we proposed a quality evaluation standard model which is suitable for the Korean public enterprise based on the Malcolm Baldrige Non-profit Criteria, and examined the model. A 7-Point Likert Scale was used based on the seven categories within the 2007 Malcolm Baldrige Non-profit Criteria: Leadership, Strategic Planning, Customer and Market Focus, Management Analysis and Knowledge Management, Workforce Focus, Process Management, and Results. Furthermore, we analysed the validity and causal relationship among the factors within the model. Through the above case study, following common factors for successful Malcolm Baldrige Model have been derived. The following is a summary of the results of this study. First, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs powerful support Leadership. Second, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs systematic Strategic Planning. Third, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs the continuous Customer and Market Focus. Fourth, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs systematic Measurement Analysis and Knowledge Management. Five, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs systematic Workforce Focus. Six, for Malcolm Baldrige Model management, needs systematic Process Management. The finding are surely necessary factors to arrange the human resource management for upgraded management quality, those factors help to explain why all enterprises consider human resource as the strategic view.

  • Objectives: This study was performed to review studies on Essential Tremor (ET) in Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Methods: We reviewed papers in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) from 2007~2016. Search keywords were 原发性震颤, 特发性震颤, essential tremor and idiopathic tremor, and excluded non-clinical studies, non-related to ET or TCM studies, theses for degrees and non-Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). The quality of the articles was assessed by Jadad scale and the Risk of Bias (RoB). Results: Thirteen studies were selected. 'Criteria for the diagnosis of ET' was most frequently used as diagnostic criteria. 'Tremor rating scale' was primarily used for outcome measurement. Meta-analysis of nine trials revealed the effective rate of acupuncture and Western medicine (WM+Acu) groups was significantly higher compared to the WM group (RR: 1.48, 95 percent CI: 1.20 to 1.82, p=0.0002, $I^2=0$ percent) and tremor rating scale was also significantly decreased in the treatment group (MD: -1.35, 95 percent CI: -2.17 to -0.54, p=0.001, $I^2=0$ percent). Also, effective rates of Electro-acupuncture (EA) and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) groups were significantly higher than that of the WM group {(RR: 1.53, 95 percent CI: 1.22 to 1.92, p=0.0003, $I^2=0$ percent) in EA vs. WM and (RR: 1.35, 95 percent CI: 1.16 to 1.57, p<0.0001, $I^2=0$ percent) in CHM vs. WM}. However, the quality of selected clinical studies was poor. Conclusions: Treatment of ET in TCM may be more effective and safe than in Western medicine. Therefore, we hope this study will lead to further clinical research on treatment of ET in Korean medicine.
