Signal Measurement Algorithm for 3GPP WCDMA Measurement Equipment (3GPP WCDMA모뎀 계측장비를 위한 신호계측 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, we implement measurement functionality for the 3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) modem. Generally speaking, the receiving algorithms in normal modems cannot be used directly to the measurement system due to the lack of the measurement accuracy. In this paper, we propose the new measurement algorithm for precise 3GPP WCDMA signal measurements. In the measurement algorithm, 4-stage parameters estimation scheme is used. To improve the measurement accuracy, we increase the number of the received signal samples by interpolation. The proposed 3GPP WCDMA signal measurement algorithm can be used for verifying and implementing SoC/FPGA modem measurement systems.

Postal Dosimetry Audits for the Domestic Medical Linear Accelerator

  • Purpose: The objective of this study is to perform Postal dosimetry audits for medical linear accelerators in radiation therapy institutions using glass dosimeters and Gafchromic film reading systems and postal dosimetry audit procedures, and to evaluate radiation therapy doses and mechanical accuracy in medical institutions. Methods: Photon output measured and analyzed using a standard phantom for measuring photon output dose using a glass dosimeter for medical linear accelerators. Mechanical accuracy was measured and analyzed using software for film measurement. Results: Measurement and analysis of photon beam output dose using a standard phantom glass dosimeter for photon beam output dose measurement was completed. All tolerance doses were within 5%. Mechanical accuracy measurement and analysis using a standard phantom for verifying the mechanical accuracy of linear accelerator (LINAC) using a Gafchromic film were completed, and all results were shown within tolerances (2 mm or less). Conclusions: In this study, Postal dosimetry audits were performed on the output dose and mechanical accuracy of photon beams (207 beams) for 106 LINACs from 48 institutions. As a result of corrective action and re-execution, it was confirmed that all engines met the acceptable standard within 2 mm in the linear accelerator.

An In-Process Measurement Technique for Non-contact Monitoring of Surface Roughness and form Accuracy of Ground Surfaces (연삭 가공면의 표면조도와 형상정밀도의 비접촉식 인프로세스 측정기술)

  • An optical technique using laser for non-contact measurement of surface roughness and form accuracy of ground surfaces is presented. It is found that, when a ground surface is illuminated by a beam of laser light, the roughness height and slope distribution has significant influence on the pattern of reflection and it maintains an unique Gaussian distribution relationship with the surface roughness. The principle idea of the optical measurement system is therefore monitor the radiation, and then calibrate it in process against surface roughness by means of necessary digital data processing. On the other hand, measuring the form accuracy of a ground surface is accomplished by using a triangular method, which is based on observing the movement of an image of a spot of light projected onto the surface. The image is focused, through a series of lenses for magnification, on a photodetector array lf line configur- ation. Then the relative movement of image and consequently the form accuracy of the surface can be obtained through appropriate calibration procedures. Experimental test showed that the optical roughness measurement technique suggested in this work is very efficient for most industrial applications being capable of monitoring the roughness heights ranging 0.1 to 0.6 .$\mu$m CLA values. And form accuracy can be measured in process with a resolution of 10 .$\mu$m.

Effect of sensor positioning error on the accuracy of magnetic field mapping result for NMR/MRI

  • Nowadays the magnetic field mapping is widely used in the design and analysis of the NMR/MRI magnet system, and the accuracy of mapping result has become more and more important. There are several factors affecting the accuracy of the mapping such as the mapping method, the precision of the sensor, the position of the measurement points, the calculation accuracy, and so on. In this paper the error due to the misalignment of the measurement points was discussed. The magnetic field in the central volume was mapped using an indirect method in an MRI magnet system and the magnetic field was fitted to a polynomial. Considering the misalignment between the original measurement points and the practical measurement points, there must be some errors in the mapping calculation and we called it positioning error. Several comparisons of the positioning error have been presented through the theoretical estimates and the exact magnetic field values. Finally, the allowable positioning errors were suggested to guarantee the accuracy of the magnetic field mapping within a certain degree for an example case.

  • Lumber spine range of motion has been used to measure of physical and functional impairment by various tools from a ruler to 3D kinematic devices. However, pre-existing tools have problems in either movement or accuracy and reliability limitations. Accurate devices are limited by fixed space whereas simple devices are limited in measuring complex movements with less accuracy. In order to solve the location, movement and accuracy limitations at once, we have developed a novice measurement device equipped with accelerometer sensor and gyroscope sensor for getting three-dimensional information of motion. Furthermore, Kalman filter was applied to the algorithm to improve accuracy. In addition, RF wireless communication was added for the user to conveniently check measured data in real time. Finally, the measurement method was improved by considering the movement by a reference point. An experiment was conducted to test the accuracy and reliability of the device by conducting a test-retest reliability test. Further modification will be conducted to used the device in various joints range of motion in clinical settings in the future.

  • This paper describes the development of on-the-machine measuring(OMM) system which can directly measure the two and three dimensional machined accuracy using a scanning probe in milling machine. Two algorithms, NC program based continuous path(CP) measurement and CAD data assisted point to point(PTP) measurement, are developed for three dimensional measurements, with consideration of the characteristics of the scanning probe. The algorithms are used to develop an auto measuring system. The delveloped system is compared with the CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) in terms of accuracy and repeatability. The OMM system is expected to realize measurement time reduction and hence result in high productivity.

  • 1. Objectives This is the comparative study with hand-operated measurement method & Automatic measurement method, in order to convert the automatic measurement method. 2. Methods We measured the body of patients(hand-operated width 5 places and hand-operated circumference 8 places, Automatic width 5 places) and analyzed the anthropometric data dividing into sex, age, BMI. 1057 patients's data are used in the analysis. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) 5th Width variable which was measured during lying down was not a sasang constitutional difference. 2) Diagnostic accuracy rate of the body measurement by Width which was measured during lying down and Width which IBS standing was 40-60%. 3) Diagnostic accuracy rate of Automatic & hand-operated measuring was not a big difference.

  • This paper verifies the performance of Extended Kalman Filter(EKF) and MCL(Monte Carlo Localization) approach to localization of an underwater vehicle through experiments. Especially, the experiments use acoustic range sensor whose measurement accuracy and uncertainty is not yet proved. Along with localization, the experiment also discloses the uncertainty features of the range measurement such as bias and variance. The proposed localization method rejects outlier range data and the experiment shows that outlier rejection improves localization performance. It is as expected that the proposed method doesn't yield as precise location as those methods which use high priced DVL(Doppler Velocity Log), IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), and high accuracy range sensors. However, it is noticeable that the proposed method can achieve the accuracy which is affordable for correction of accumulated dead reckoning error, even though it uses only range data of low reliability and accuracy.

  • Power distribution system has been changed from radial system to closed loop or mesh system due to connection of distributed generation growth. Data from distribution equipments which are installed at distribution line is required to be accurate for the performance of DMS(Distribution Management System). This paper analyzes the voltage measurement data from distribution equipment. However, the results of the analysis are confirmed to have some errors in voltage measurement data from distribution equipment. These errors come from aging of voltage sensor in distribution equipment and inaccurate data transfer to FRTU(feeder remote terminal unit) through the controller. The main problem is that the voltage measurement data of distribution equipment can not be assessed after it's first installation at the distribution line. The voltage measurement accuracy assessment system is to assess the voltage measurement data from distribution equipment on hot-line. This study had a field test to verify the performance of system.

  • A source meter is a basic instrument to perform a measurement of DC characteristic of semiconductor devices. the source meter can be used as variable voltage source, variable current source, voltage meter, or current meter. The accuracy of the low current measurement can be improved with the compensation of leakage current and charge and discharge current. In the low current measurement, the RC time constant is extremely big, so the measurement speed is very low. In this thesis, the analysis of the behavior of the measurement current according to the RC time constant and output capacitance and the method to accelerate the measurement speed.
