This paper is focused on the analysis of the noise and vibration measured near the wheelset of the high-speed trains using a time-varying frequency transform as a preliminary research of running monitoring. Due to the non-stationary characteristics, it is necessary to examine noise and vibration of the train with time-varying frequency transforms. In this paper, the short-time Fourier transform method is utilized - the stored data is localized by modulating with a window function, and Fourier transform is taken to each localized data. For the examination, the non-stationary noise and vibration of the high-speed train's wheelset are measured by using some microphones and accelerometers, and those signals are stored in a on-board data acquisition system. The non-stationary random signal analyses with the short-time Fourier transform are performed, and the result are classified as follows; auto-spectral density, cross-spectral density, frequency response, and coherence functions. From those functions, it is possible to observe the frequency characteristics of sleepers, switchers, tunnels, and steel bridges. Also, some distinct peaks, which are not dependent upon the train's speed, are identified from the results.

In this paper, we describe the fabrication of a paper-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to detect polygalacturonase (PG), which is used as a biomarker to determine whether a plant is infected with a disease. The proposed paper-based ELISA can analyze the concentration of PG in a short time using a small sample compared to the traditional ELISA, which is generally performed using a well plate. To increase the resolution of the sensor, we optimized the dilution ratio of the HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG antibody and the dilution ratio of the anti-PG and HRP-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG antibodies. Furthermore, for quantitative analysis of PG concentration, Delta RGB analysis was conducted to detect color changes in the sensing window displayed by the PG samples at various concentrations. Based on the experiment, the fabricated paper-based ELISA could measure at least 0.25 ㎍ of PG and the measurement range was 0.25-2 ㎍. Therefore, the paper-based ELISA for detecting PG is expected to be able to determine the presence or absence of disease in crops at the infection stage in the future.
Uncertainties in geomechanical input parameters which mainly related to inappropriate data acquisition and estimation due to lack of sufficient calibration information, have led wellbore instability not yet to be fully understood or addressed. This paper demonstrates a workflow of employing Quantitative Risk Assessment technique, considering these uncertainties in terms of rock properties, pore pressure and in-situ stresses to makes it possible to survey not just the likelihood of accomplishing a desired level of wellbore stability at a specific mud pressure, but also the influence of the uncertainty in each input parameter on the wellbore stability. This probabilistic methodology in conjunction with Monte Carlo numerical modeling techniques was applied to a case study of a well. The response surfaces analysis provides a measure of the effects of uncertainties in each input parameter on the predicted mud pressure from three widely used failure criteria, thereby provides a key measurement for data acquisition in the future wells to reduce the uncertainty. The results pointed out that the mud pressure is tremendously sensitive to UCS and SHmax which emphasize the significance of reliable determinations of these two parameters for safe drilling. On the other hand, the predicted safe mud window from Mogi-Coulomb is the widest while the Hoek-Brown is the narrowest and comparing the anticipated collapse failures from the failure criteria and breakouts observations from caliper data, indicates that Hoek-Brown overestimate the minimum mud weight to avoid breakouts while Mogi-Coulomb criterion give better forecast according to real observations.

For an earthquake-safe urban environment, the Republic of Korea conducts seismic performance evaluation in accordance with laws and guidelines to assign safety ratings and implement necessary management measures such as repairs and reinforcements. In the seismic performance evaluation result, structures lacking in preparation for earthquakes are prioritized and classified into measures such as repair, reinforcement, or careful observation to respond to physical risks such as earthquakes. Such repair and reinforcement work is not a one-time thing, but it is necessary to further enhance the effect through continuous follow-up observation. In this study, the location of the vertical and horizontal displacement measuring part of the construction part is displayed so that the post-construction status of the reinforcement construction part can be visually checked by identifying the problems in the process of post-monitoring in 2022 for the maintenance and reinforcement work of local governments' public facilities carried out in 2021. We propose a plan to institutionalize the installation of, inspection tools, and crack gauges at certain locations in the construction department, and to have facility managers periodically inspect and manage them with a smartphone program or the 'Facility Autonomous Safety Inspection' app.
In urban environments, signals of Global Positioning System (GPS) can be blocked and reflected by tall buildings, large vehicles, and complex components of road network. Therefore, the performance of the positioning system using the GPS module in urban areas can be degraded due to the loss of GPS signals necessary for the position estimation. To deal with this issue, various localization schemes using inertial measurement unit (IMU) sensors, such as gyroscope and accelerometer, and Bayesian filters, such as Kalman filter (KF) and particle filter (PF), have been designed to enhance the performance of the GPS-based positioning system. Among Bayesian filters, the PF has been widely used for the target tracking and vehicle navigation, since it can provide superior performance in estimating the state of a dynamic system under nonlinear/non-Gaussian circumstance. This paper presents a positioning system that uses the double-stacked particle filter (DSPF) as well as the accelerometer, gyroscope, and GPS receiver on the smartphone to provide higher pedestrian positioning accuracy in urban environments. The DSPF employs a nonparametric technique (Parzen-window) to create the multimodal target distribution that approximates the posterior distribution. Experimental results show that the DSPF-based positioning system can provide the significant improvement of the pedestrian position estimation in urban environments.
As microchips' degree of integration is getting higher, its cooling problem becomes important more than ever. One of the promising methods is using fractal microchannel heat sink by mimicking nature's Murray networks. However, most of the related works have been progressed only by numerical analysis. Perhaps such lack of direct experimental studies is due to the technical difficulty of the temperature and heat flux measurement in complex geometric channels. Here, we demonstrate the direct visualization of in situ temperature profile in a fractal microchannel heat sink. By using the temperature-sensitive fluorescent dye and a transparent Polydimethylsiloxane window, we can map temperature profiles in silicon-based fractal heat sinks with various fractal scale factors (a=1.5-3.5). Then, heat transfer rates and pressure drops under a fixed flow rate were estimated to optimize hydrodynamic and thermal characteristics. Through this experiment, we found out that the optimal factor is a=1.75, given that the differences in heat transfer among the devices are marginal when compared to the variances in pumping power. This work is expected to contribute to the development of high-performance, high-efficiency thermal management systems required in various industrial fields.

The investigation on the correlation between the ratio Duty Cycle and planned respiratory phase and the standard deviation of the respiratory cycle was analyzed in each -0.156 (p = 0.282) and -0.385 (p = 0.070). Conclusion : This study is to analyze the acts after the breathing motion of the external markers recorded during the actual treatment was confirmed in a reproducible ratios of actual treatment of breathing motion during treatment, and Duty Cycle, planned respiratory gated window. Minimizing an error of the treatment plan using 4DCT and enhance the respiratory training and respiratory signal monitoring for effective treatment it is determined to be necessary.
A proto-type seismic measurement system with a reference was developed to improve S/N (signal-to-noise ratio) of seismic data, especially in noisy urban areas. Two pairs of correlation measurements (the one for microphone and geophone, and another for electromagnetic (EM) loop and geophone) were carried out near Kimpo Airport and at Kimje. The spectrum analyses were also performed to investigate the correlation of two pairs of time series; one for microphone and geophone, and another for EM loop and geophone. The sound waves measured with the microphone and the geophone are highly correlated. However, differences in the reponses are readily identifiable across 200 Hz; in the vicinity of 100 Hz, the spectral energy for geophone is 20 dB higher than that for microphone, and at near 500 Hz, the spectral energy for microphone is 30 dB higher than that for geophone. Overall, the spectral energy appears concentrated on the frequency window below 600 Hz for geophone. It contrasts with the observation of dominant frequency at the range of above 200 Hz for microphone. The wave forms of EM noise (due to an ACDC inverter) measured with EM loop and geophone are consistently and highly correlated each other. The power spectrum of the EM noise for EM loop shows that the spectral energies at odd harmonic frequencies of 60 Hz are higher than those at even harmonic frequencies of 60 Hz. It is compared to the power spectrum for geophone; the spectral energies at odd harmonics are nearly same as those at even harmonic frequencies.
This study was performed to quantify the pleural effusion in radiography, ultrasonography and computed tomography(CT) and to evaluate and compare the usefulness of these methods. Normal saline of 10 ml/kg was infused into the pleural space until a final loading volume of 60 ml/kg body weight was reached in six Beagle dogs. The radiographic examination was performed for the detection and quantification of pleural effusion. On the ultrasonographic study, the maximum perpendicular distance was measured between the surface of the lung and the thoracic wall to evaluate pleural effusion. On the CT image, pleural effusion was evaluated as the perpendicular distance to the thoracic surface in the maximum pleural effusion volume on any transverse images with soft tissue window. Statistical analysis was performed using linear regression test. The volume of pleural effusion and measurements of radiography and ultrasonography had no statistical relationship. However, a significant correlation was identified between the volume of pleural effusion and the depth at right ($r^2=0.715$), left ($r^2=0.745$), and mean right and left depth ($r^2=0.844$) on the CT images. All of the thoracic radiographs, ultrasonography, and CT are useful in recognition of pleural effusion. In quantification of pleural effusion, the CT measurement method is superior to radiographic and ultrasonographic measurements.
