  • In this study, we presented a system to measure inside diameters of parts of compressor. This system solved problems of air micrometer and improved measurement accuracy by using linear variable differential transformer. The system was designed for production line which require accurate and reliable measuring system. And the system is easier and faster to use than air micrometer and can be applied various measuring area.

  • As a measure of the center of data, arithmetical mean, median, mode, harmonic mean and geometric mean are generally used. Students must learn qualitative aspect of average values as well as its calculation for its adequate use. As the result of the learning, they should be able to select the appropriate average value according to the characteristic of data and problem context. For this object, the historical origin and visual interpretation of average values were introduced in this paper. And to help teaching several meanings of average values, several examples including context were suggested.

  • This paper describes a method of producing maps of an indoor environment with an autonomous mobile robot equipped with sonar array. This method uses the certainty grid suitable for accommodation of inaccurate sensor data and real-time navigation. Each grid contains a certainty vale that indicates the measure of confidence that an obstacle exists within th grid area. The scheduled firing method is used to eliminate the crosstalk between ultrasonic sensors. The effectiveness of the method is verified by a series of experiments.

Optimizing Mobile Advertising Using Ad Refresh Interval

  • Optimizing the number of ad clicks is a large-scale learning problem that is central to the multi-billion dollar mobile advertising industry. There are currently several optimization methods used, including ad mediation and ad positioning. This paper proposes a new method to optimize mobile advertising by using the ad refresh interval. A new metric, which can measure and compare mobile advertising performance, takes into account time limitations. The results achieved from this optimization study could maximize revenue for mobile advertisers and publishers. This research has high applicability. It also lays out a solid background for future research in this promising area.

  • Nuclear reactions in explosive stars such as novae, X-ray bursts, and supernovae are responsible for producing many of the elements that make up our world. Exotic nuclei not normally found on earth can play an important role in these events due to the extreme conditions that occur in the explosion. A frontier area of research involves utilizing beams of radioactive nuclei to improve our understanding of these explosions and the implications on cosmic element production. At the future radioactive ion beam facility of Korea, RAON, we will measure astrophysically important reactions using exotic beams to probe the details of cosmic events. Details of RAON and possible day-1 experiments at the facility will be presented.

  • The indentation process in the Vickers hardness test is a kind of controlled local plastic deformation. Vickers hardness is defined as indenting force per unit area indented by a pyramid-shaped diamond at the hardness test. That is a measure of mechanical resistance against indentation of a rigid body into the deformable material. Therefore it is well known that Vickers hardness has a direct relation with the flow stress of the strain-hardened tmaterial. This relation is theoretically investigated and the result is given for use in practice.

  • In manufacture of printed circuit boards, one important issue is precisely to measure the three-dimensional shape of the solder paste silk-screened prior to direct surface mounting of chips. This paper presents the 3D shape reconstruction of solder paste using the optical triangulation method based on structured light or slit beam and the measurement algorithm for height, volume. area, and coplanarity on component pads from the 3D range image. Futhermore, statistical process control function is incorporated for process capability analysis.

  • Methods for the measurement of copper(II) complexing capacity (CuCC) of natural waters by using the back-extraction of bis(benzoyl-trifluoroacetonate)copper(II) and the extraction rate of dithizonato-copper(II) complex were described. Experimental results show that the CuCC of the Kiryu river water samples from urban area were consistently larger than those from up-stream, due to a ligand which originated from human activities.

  • This paper describes the experiment and design of Rogowski - wound coil used to measure a pulsed current with pulsewidth on the order of 100nsec in the kiloampere range. Radius of coil is 2.75cm, total number of turns are 26 and cross -sectional area is 1 cm. The coil have 3ns rise time, 0.2nsec transit time and sensitivity is 4v/kA.
