맥캔지 경부 운동프로그램이 산업체 근로자의 경부압통과 균형에 미치는 영향 (Effects of McKenzie Cervical Exercise Program on Cervical Pressure Pain and Balance in Industrial Workers)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of the McKenzie cervical exercise program on cervical pressure pain and balance in industrial workers. Method : The subjects, who consisted of 26 industrial workers, were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (n=13) went about their daily living routines. The other group (n=13) used the McKenzie cervical exercise program for 6 weeks (2 to 3 times/day). Pressure threshold and balance ability tests were completed before and after the experiment. The balance test was performed both with the eyes open and closed in a standing position. Result : There were significant improvements in the pressure threshold and balance ability test for the McKenzie cervical exercise program group (p<.05), while the control group showed no significant changes (p>.05). Conclusion : The above results revealed that the McKenzie cervical exercise program is effective in improving balance and cervical pressure pain.

거북목을 가진 사람에게 메켄지 폄운동과 어깨안정화운동이 앞쪽머리자세에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Shoulder stabilization exercise and McKenzie Exercise on Forward Head Posture)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 거북목을 가진 사람에게 메켄지 폄운동과 어깨안정화운동이 앞쪽머리자세에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 연구대상자는 30명의 거북목을 가진 평범하고 건강한 사람들로 이루어져 있다. 대상자는 어깨안정화운동과 메켄지 폄운동으로 나누어(인원=30, 남자 15명, 여자 15명) 무작위로 나누어 6주 동안 실시되었다. 본 연구는 마름근, 아래등세모근의 운동프로그램과 깊은목굽힘근, 위등세모근, 어깨올림근의 신장프로그램을 통한 목뼈의 머리척추각(Cervical Vertebra Angle) 값과 각 근육별 근전도의 차이를 알아보았다. 앞쪽머리자세와 경우에는 목과 등근육의 활성도가 감소하고 피로도는 증가함을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 목과 머리의 불안정한 상태를 안정시키기 위해서는 위등세모근, 깊은목굽힘근, 어깨올림근의 신장과 마름근, 아래등세모근의 운동을 통해 거북목의 개선에 긍정적인 변화를 줄 것으로 보인다. 이러한 근육들의 불균형한 수축과 과도한 긴장으로 근육의 경직과 피로가 누적되며 이러한 상태가 계속 유지되게 되면 만성화상태가 되어 근육의 불균형으로 인해 통증을 유발할 수 있으며, 피로의 누적으로 인하여 자극에 대한 반응과 근력을 약화시켜서 목 디스크가 발생할 확률이 높아질 것으로 사료된다.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of exercise on the neck muscles activities between scapular stability and McKenzie stretch exercise in the forward head posture subjects. Method : After measuring cervical alignment using the Global Posture System, 20 volunteers with forward head posture posture were selected and divided into two groups. The experimental group A(n=15) and Experimental group B(n=15) participated in respectively and McKenzie neck stretching exercise, three times per week for 4 weeks. The scapular stabilization exercise program was comprised middle and lower trapezius strength exercises and the stretching exercise program was comprised levator scapulae and upper trapezius stretching exercise. The activities of the muscles of the posterior neck was then measured using electromyography. Result : After the intervention, there was significant difference of a electromyography activity changes between the pre-test and post-test in the experimental group. Conclusion : This study showed that both scapular stabilization and McKenzie neck stretching exercises are more effective for reducing neck muscles activities.

멀리간 기법과 멕켄지 기법이 역학적 목 통증을 가진 아급성 환자의 통증 및 관절가동범위에 미치는 효과 비교 (Comparative Effect of Mulligan Technique and Mckenzie Technique on Pain & Range of Motion in Sub-Acute Patients with Mechanical Neck Pain)

  • Background: Neck pain is recognized as one of the common and important musculoskeletal disorders in modern society. There are many studies proving that manual therapy is one of the effective treatment methods for treating neck pain. This study compared the treatment effects of the Mulligan technique and the McKenzie technique which are widely used in clinical practice to treat neck pain, through changes in neck pain and range of motion. Methods: Forty-five sub-acute patients with mechanical neck pain were randomly divided into groups as Mulligan technique group (n=22) and McKenzie technique group (n=23). The two groups were treated 8 times for 4 weeks. The participants in both groups received home exercise program. Pain (Visual Analog Scale) and range of motion were measured before and after the treatment program. Results: In both group, the pain intensity and range of motion in all direction improved significantly (p<.001). The Mulligan technique was superior to the McKenzie technique in neck extension, lateral flexion, and rotation (p<.01), but there was no difference in neck flexion and pain intensity. Conclusion: Both the Mulligan technique and McKenzie technique were effective on neck pain and ROM in patients with mechanical neck pain. The Mulligan technique is more useful than the McKenzie technique to improve neck extension, lateral flexion, and rotation.
