In this study, we fabricated the semiconductor laser for optical sensor with 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$wavelength region. In order to suppress lasing oscillation and to reduce the reflectivity, the devices of bending type were designed and fabricated. Their output power were 1.6㎽ at a pulse drive current of 100㎃. When the fabricated device was applied to optical fiber gyroscope, the output power of optical fiber was 540㎻ at a CW drive current of 100㎃, the full width at half maximum spectral width was 53nm. And the random-walk coefficient was measured to be 2.5$\times$10$^3$deg/√hr, the gyro output drift was also found to be 0.3 deg/hr. So we confirmed the possibility of application to use for light source of optical fiber gyroscope.
The purposes of this investigation were to observe the reaction kinetics of five commercial dual cured resin cements (Bistite, Dual, Scotchbond, Duolink and Duo) when cured under varying thicknesses of porcelain inlays by chemical or light activation and to evaluate the effect of the porcelain disc on the rate of polymerization of dual cured resin cement during light exposure by using thermal analysis. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) was used to evaluate the weight change as a function of temperature during a thermal program from $25{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ at rate of $10^{\circ}C$/min and to measure inorganic filler weight %. Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) was used to evaluate the heat of cure(${\Delta}H$), maximum rate of heat output and peak heat flow time in dual cured resin cement systems when the polymerization reaction occured by chemical cure only or by light exposure through 0mm, 1mm, 2mm and 4mm thickness of porcelain discs. In 4mm thickness of porcelain disc, the exposure time was varied from 40s to 60s to investigate the effect of the exposure time on polymerization reaction. To investigate the effect on the setting of dual cured resin cements of absorption of polymerizing light by porcelain materials used as inlays and onlays, the change of the intensity of the light attenuated by 1mm, 2mm and 4mm thickness of porcelain discs was measured using curing radiometer. The results were as follows 1. The heat of cure of resin cements was 34~60J/gm and significant differences were observed between brands (P<0.001). Inverse relationship was present between the heat of reaction and filler weight % the heat of cure decreased with increasing filler content (R=-0.967). The heat of reaction by light cure was greater than by chemical cure in Bistite, Scotchbond and Duolink(P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference in Dual and Duo(P>0.05). 2. The polymerization rate of chemical cure and light cure of five commercially available dual cured resin cements was found to vary greatly with brand. Setting time based on peak heat flow time was shortest in Duo during chemical cure, and shortest in Dual during light cure. Cure speed by light exposure was 5~20 times faster than by chemical cure in dual cured resin cements. The dual cured resin cements differed markedly in the ratio of light and chemical activated catalysts. 3. The peak heat flow time increased by 1.51, 1.87, and 3.24 times as light cure was done through 1mm, 2mm and 4mm thick porcelain discs. Exposure times recommended by the manufacturers were insufficient to compensate for the attenuation of light by the 4mm thick porcelain disc. 4. A strong inverse relationship was observed between peak heat flow and peak time in chemical cure(R=0.951), and a strong positive correlations hip was observed between peak heat flow and the heat of cure in light cure(R=0.928). There was no correlationship present between filler weight % or heat of cure and peak time. 5. The thermal decomposition of resin cements occured primarily between $300^{\circ}C$ and $480^{\circ}C$ with maximum decomposition rates at $335^{\circ}C$ and $440^{\circ}C$.
Shingled technology is the latest cell interconnection technology developed in the photovoltaic (PV) industry due to its reduced resistance loss, low-cost, and innovative electrically conductive adhesive (ECA). There are several advantages associated with shingled technology to develop cell to module (CTM) such as the module area enlargement, low processing temperature, and interconnection; these advantages further improves the energy yield capacity. This review paper provides valuable insight into CTM loss when cells are interconnected by shingled technology to form modules. The fill factor (FF) had improved, further reducing electrical power loss compared to the conventional module interconnection technology. The commercial PV module technology was mainly focused on different performance parameters; the module maximum power point (Pmpp), and module efficiency. The module was then subjected to anti-reflection (AR) coating and encapsulant material to absorb infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) light, which can increase the overall efficiency of the shingled module by up to 24.4%. Module fabrication by shingled interconnection technology uses EGaIn paste; this enables further increases in output power under standard test conditions. Previous research has demonstrated that a total module output power of approximately 400 Wp may be achieved using shingled technology and CTM loss may be reduced to 0.03%, alongside the low cost of fabrication.
In this paper, in order to analyze property of frequency response in optical microphone, system was implemented. The capacitance microphone and fiber-optic transmission path type fiber-optic microphone (FOM) have weaknesses in directivity, size, weight, and price. However suggested optical microphone can be constituted by cheap devices, so it has many benefits like small size, light weight, high directivity, etc. Head part of optical microphone which is suggested in this paper is movable back and forth by sound pressure with the attached reflection plate. Operating point is determined by measuring the respond characteristics and choosing the point on which has maximum linearity and sensitivity while changing the distance between optical head and vibrating plate. We measured the output of the O/E transformed signal of the optical microphone while frequency of sound signal is changed using sound measurement/analysis program, Smaart Live and USBPre, which are based on PC, and compared the result from an existing capacitance microphone. The measured Optical microphone showed almost similar output characteristics as those of the compared condenser microphone, and its bandwidth performance was about 300[Hz]-3[kHz] at up to 3 [dB].

Cyanobacteria Synechocystis PCC 6803 or the extracted thylakoid membrane from this strain was appled to photosynthetic bio-electrochemical fuel cell(PBEFC) for the production of hydrogen under the illumination of 48Klux using halogen lamp. PBEFC was composed of anode, cathode and membrane between them. Electrode material was carbon paper while electron mediator and receptor were added phenazine methosulfate(PMS) and potassium ferricyanide respectively. When water and 50 mM tricine buffer and $300{\mu}M$ PMS were added to the anode under the light condition, PBEFC produced the current density $4.4{\times}10^{-5}\;mA/cm^2$, $1.4{\times}10^{-4}\;mA/cm^2$ and $2.4{\times}10^{-4}\;mA/cm^2$, respectively. And the addition of the thylakoid membrane to the system increased current density to $1.3{\times}10^{-3}\;mA/cm^2$. Two times increase of the thylakoid membrane into the anode doubled the current density to $2.6{\times}10^{-3}\;mA/cm^2$. But the current density was not increased proportionally to the amount of thylakoid membrane increased. The system was unstable to measure the electricity output due to the foam production in the anode. Addition of triton X-100 and tween 80 stabilized the system to measure the electricity output but the current density was not increased higher than $8.4{\times}10^{-4}\;mA/cm^2$ and $2.3{\times}10^{-3}\;mA/cm^2$. When the thylakoid membrane was substituted to Synechocystis PCC 6803 cells of four-day culture which has chlorophyll contents $20.5{\mu}g/m{\ell}$, maximum current density was $1.3{\times}10^{-3}\;mA/cm^2$ with $1\;k{\Omega}$ resistance.

In this paper, we took the basic experiment in order to explore the optical CT(optical current transformer) for measuring high current in a superhigh voltage condition. It is based on the faraday effect that changes the polarization characteristic of optical signals by the magnetic field. We used 1310[nm] laser diode for a light source and comprised a sensing part with the optional fiber of 5[m], 10[m], 20[m] length each. The range of current was from 400[A] to 1300[A]. We observed the characteristic of output that changes according to the length of the optical fiber composing the sensing part. The optical fiber of 5[m] length used for the sensing part had -11.1% of the maximum ratio of error and 10[m] and 20[m] length had -3.5% and 1.7% each. This means that the power and linearity of output increase in proportion to the length of optical fiber and applied current in the same experimental condition.
This paper proposes a hybrid LED driving circuit and its control method for extension of the color gamut of LED. The proposed hybrid LED driving circuit provides the constant current by switching regulation in the high current and by linear regulation in the low current through LED. Furthermore, the magnitudes of the high current and low current were controlled by CC(Continuous Current) control method and PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control method, respectively. We experimentally confirmed that the current through RGB LED is linearly controlled to 2% maximum current ratio by varying PWM in the proposed driving circuit and control method. As a result of the measurement of the output light color in CIE1976 chromaticity coordinates, we confirmed that the color, which not be expressed by the existing method, uniformly expressed. We confirmed that the color, which can not be expressed by the existing method, was uniformly output and verified that the color gamut was expanded by the low current controlled by the proposed driving circuit and control method.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to observe the reaction kinetics and the degree of polymerization of composite resins when cured by different light sources and to evaluate the effectiveness of the blue Light Emitting Diode Light Curing Units (LED LCUs) compared with conventional halogen LCUs. Materials and Methods: First, thermal analysis was performed by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The LED LCU (Elipar Freelight, $320{\;}mW/\textrm{cm}^2$) and the conventional halogen LCU (XL3000, $400{\;}mV/\textrm{cm}^2$) were used in this study for curing three composite resins (SureFil, Z-250 and AEliteFLO). Second. the degree of conversion was obtained in the composite resins cured according to the above curing mode with a FTIR. Third, the measurements of depth of cure were carried out in accordance with ISO 4049 standards. Statistical analysis was performed by two-way ANOVA test at 95% levels of confidence and Duncan's procedure for multiple comparisons. Results: The heat of cure was not statistically different among the LCUs (p > 0.05). The composites cured by the LED (Exp) LCUs were statistically more slowly polymerized than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Std) LCU (p < 0.05). The composite resin groups cured by the LED (Exp) LCUs had significantly greater degree of conversion value than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Std) LCU (p =0.0002). The composite resin groups cured by the LED (Std) LCUs showed significantly greater depth of cure value than by the halogen LCU and the LED (Exp) LCU (p < 0.05).

In this paper, High brightness LED (light-emitting diodes) driver IC (integrated circuit) using new current sensing circuit is proposed. This LED driver IC can provide a constant current with high current precision over a wide input voltage range. The proposed current-sensing circuit is composed of a cascode current sensor and a current comparator with only one reference voltage. This IC minimizes the voltage stress of the MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor) from the maximum input voltage and has low power consumption and chip area by using simple-structured comparator and minimum bias current. To confirm the functioning and characteristics of our proposed LED driver IC, we designed a buck converter. The LED current ripple of the designed IC is in ${\pm}5%$ and a tolerance of the average LED current is lower than 2.43%. This shows much improved feature than the previous method. Also, protections for input voltage and operating temperature are designed to improve the reliability of the designed IC. Designed LED driver IC uses 1.0 ${\mu}m$ X-Fab. BiCMOS process parameters and electrical characteristics and functioning are verified by spectre (Cadence) simulation.
The performance of a long wavelength-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier (L-band EDFA) using 1530nm-band pumping has been studied. A 1530nm-band pump source is built using a tunable light source and two C-band EDFAs in cascaded configuration, which is able to deliver a maximum output power of 23dBm. Gain coefficient and noise figure (NF) of the L-band EDFA are measured for pump wavelengths between 1530nm and 1560nm. The gain coefficient with a 1545nm pump is more than twice as large as with a 1480nm pump. It indicates that the L-band EDFA consumes low power. The noise figure of 1530nm pump is 6.36dB at worst, which is 0.75dB higher than that of 1480nm pumped EDFA. The optimum pump wavelength range to obtain high gain and low NF in the 1530nm band appears to be between 1530nm and 1540nm. Gain spectra as a function of a pump wavelength have bandwidth of more than 10nm so that a broadband pump source can be used as 1530nm-band pump. The L-band EDFA is also tested for WDM signals. Flat Gain bandwidth is 32nm from 1571.5 to 1603.5nm within 1dB excursion at input signal of -10dBm/ch. These results demonstrate that 1530nm-band pump can be used as a new efficient pump source for L-band EDFAs.
