  • Two-dimensional infrared (2D-IR) spectroscopy can probe the fast structural evolution of molecules under thermal equilibrium. Vibrational frequency fluctuation caused by structural evolution produced the time-dependent line shape change in 2D-IR spectrum. A variety of methods has been used to connect the evolution of 2D-IR spectrum with Frequency-Frequency Correlation Function (FFCF), which connects the experimental observables to a molecular level description. Here, a new method to extract FFCF from 2D-IR spectra is described. The experimental observable is the time-dependent frequency shift of maximum peak position in the slice spectrum of 2D-IR, which is taken along the excitation frequency axis. The direct relation between the 2D-IR peak shift and FFCF is proved analytically. Observing the 2D-IR peak shift does not need the full 2D-IR spectrum which covers 0-1 and 1-2 bands. Thus data collection time to determine FFCF can be reduced significantly, which helps the detection of transient species.

  • This paper describes a charge pump PLL architecture which achieves high frequency operation and fast acquisition. This architecture employs multi-phase frequency detector comprised of precharge type phase frequency detector and conventional phase frequency detector. Operation frequency is increased by using precharge type phase frequency detector when the phase difference is small and acquisition time is shortened by using conventional phase frequency detector and increased charge pump current when the phase difference is large. By virtue of this multi-phase frequency detector structure, the maximum operating frequency of 694MHz at 3.0V and faster acquisition were achieved by simulation.

  • A free piston and free displacer (FPFD) Stirling cryocooler has been widely used for the cooling infrared and cryo-sensor. The thermodynamic performance of the free piston and free displacer type (FPFD) Stirling cryocooler is highly dependent on the operating frequency of the linear compressor and the natural frequency of the displacer. In this study, to find optimal relation between operating and natural frequency of the displacer the dynamic characteristics of the displacer in the expansion space of the Stirling cooler was investigated by experiment. The experimental results show that the Stifling cryocooler has maximum cooling capacity at the operating frequency of about 0.8 times of the natural frequency of displacer. Therefore the operating frequency of the Stirring cryocooler should be determined by natural frequency of the linear compressor and displacer.

  • In this paper, we propose to a robust frequency offset estimation method of OFDM signals. A carrier frequency offset may be decomposed into an integer multiple of the subcarrier spacing and a residual frequency offset. Fractional part of frequency offset is obtained by using the maximum likelihood estimation(MLE) method. And we use the correlation of the samples at the output of the discrete Fourier transform(DFT) to estimate integer part of frequency offset. The result shows that the estimation frequency offset is almost linear to frequency offset. We propose to an improved estimation error variance of the carrier frequency offset estimation. The proposed estimator has better performance than the conventional ones in terms of error variance and tracking range.

  • I propose the excess noise suppressed optical sensor network using optical CDMA with gain saturated optical amplifier in order to increase number of sensors simultaneously connected to network. Simulation analyses confirm that the maximum number of sensors simultaneously connected to the optical sensor network can be largely increased by increasing the gain of gain saturated optical amplifier owing to the pression of access noises with the assignment of sweeping frequency of optical sensors within 10MHz. In the case of the requested SNR of 20dB and the sweeping frequency of 10MHz, the maximum number of sensors simultaneously connected to the optical sensor network can be increased four times as many as the conventional system.

  • In this paper, the optimal condition for efficient active frequency multipliers is analyzed. This analysis is based on the effects from transistor nonlinear coefficients, harmonic impedances, and output parasitic components. From the analysis, normalized harmonic power is estimated with the clipping condition of a commercial transistor, and the condition for high conversion efficiency is suggested. From the analysis, a class-F frequency tripler was implemented for the output at 2.475 GHz, showing the maximum efficiency of 22.9 % and the maximum conversion gain of 9.5 dB.

  • This paper investigates a resonant microaccelerometer that measures acceleration using a built-in micromechanical resonator, whose resonant frequency is changed by the acceleration-induced axial force. A set of design equations for the resonant microaccelerometer has been developed, including analytic formulae for resonant frequency, sensitivity, nonlinearity and maximum stress. On this basis, the sizes of the accelerometer are designed for the sensitivity of 10$^3$Hz/g in the detection range of 5g, while satisfying the conditions for the maximum nonlinearity of 5%, the minimum shock endurance of 100g and the size constraints placed by microfabrication process. A set of the resonant accelerometers has been fabricated by the combined use of bulk-micromachining and surface-micromachining techniques. From a static test of the cantilever beam resonant accelerometer, a frequency shift of 860Hz has been measured for the proof-mass deflection of 4.3${\pm}$0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$; thereby resulting in the detection sensitivity of 1.10${\times}$10$^3$Hz/g. Uncertainty analysis of the resonant frequency output has been performed to identify important issues involved in the design, fabrication and testing of the resonant accelerometer.

  • The relationship between magnetic parameter and microwave absorbing performance evaluation factor of electomagnetic wave absorber such as matching frequency, matching thickness were investigated for Ni-Zn ferrite composites. It was identified that the maximum value of ${\mu}_{r}$" is shift to low frequency with decrese Ni/Zn ratio and the value of ${\mu}_{r}$" is maximum in the case of Ni/Zn=1. All Ni-Zn ferrite composites in this study have two matching frequencies in 1-12 GHz frequency. It can be suggested that $f_{m1}$ is proportional to resonance frequency and $f_{m2}$ is proportional to the saturation magnetization.

  • SiC MOSFETs have been used to improve system efficiency in high frequency converters due to their extremely high switching speed. However, this can result in undesirable parasitic oscillations in practical systems. In this paper, models of the key components are introduced first. Then, theoretical formulas are derived to calculate the switching oscillation frequencies after full turn-on and turn-off in clamped inductive circuits. Analysis indicates that the turn-on oscillation frequency depends on the power loop parasitic inductance and parasitic capacitances of the freewheeling diode and load inductor. On the other hand, the turn-off oscillation frequency is found to be determined by the output parasitic capacitance of the SiC MOSFET and power loop parasitic inductance. Moreover, the shifting regularity of the turn-off maximum peak voltage with a varying switching speed is investigated on the basis of time domain simulation. The distortion of the turn-on current is theoretically analyzed. Finally, experimental results verifying the above calculations and analyses are presented.

  • One of the ever-increasing demands on the performances of heterodyne interferometers is to improve the measurement resolution, of which current state -of-the-art reaches the region of sub-nanometers. So far, the demand has been met by increasing the clock speed that drives the electronics involved fur the phase measurement of the Doppler shift, but its further advance is being hampered by the technological limit of modem electronics. To cope with the problem, in this investigation, we propose a new scheme of phase -measuring electronics that reduces the measurement resolution without further increase in clock speed. Our scheme adopts a super-heterodyne technique that lowers the original beat frequency to a level of 1 MHz by mixing it with a stable reference signal generated from a special phase- locked-loop. The technique enables us to measure the phase of Doppler shift with a resolution of 1.58 nanometer at a sampling rate of 1 MHz. To avoid the undesirable decrease in the maximum measurable speed caused by the lowered beat frequency, a special form of frequency up-down counting technique is combined with the super-heterodyning. This allows performing required phase unwrapping simply by using programmable digital gates without 2n ambiguities up to the maximum velocity guaranteed by the original beat frequency.
