  • Collaborative filtering is one of the methodologies that are most widely used for recommendation system. It is based on a data matrix of each customer's preferences of products. There could be a lot of missing values in such preference data matrix. This incomplete data is one of the reasons to deteriorate the accuracy of recommendation system. There are several treatments to deal with the incomplete data problem such as case deletion and single imputation. Those approaches are simple and easy to implement but they may provide biased results. Multiple imputation method imputes m values for each missing value. It overcomes flaws of single imputation approaches through considering the uncertainty of missing values. The objective of this paper is to suggest multiple imputation-based collaborative filtering approach for recommendation system to improve the accuracy in prediction performance. The experimental works show that the proposed approach provides better performance than the traditional Collaborative filtering approach, especially in case that there are a lot of missing values in dataset used for recommendation system.

  • The robust generalized H2 filtering problem for a class of discrete time uncertain linear systems satisfying the sum quadratic constraints(SQCs) is considered. The objective of this paper is to develop robust stability condition using SQCs and design a robust generalized Ha filter to take place of the existing robust Kalman filter. The robust generalized H2 filter is designed based on newly derived robust stability condition. The robust generalized Ha filter bounds the energy to peak gain from the energy bounded exogenous disturbances to the estimation errors under the given positive scalar ${\gamma}$. Unlike the robust Lalman filter, it does not require any spectral assumptions about the exogenous disturbances . Therefore the robust generalized H2 filter can be considered as a deterministic formulation of the robust Kalman filter. Moreover, the variance of the estimation error obtained by the proposed filter is lower than that by the existing robust Kalman filter. The robustness of the robust generalized H2 filter against the uncertainty and the exogenous signal is illustrated by a simple numerical example.

  • Incremental launching method is one of the highly competitive techniques for construction of concrete bridges. It avoids costly and time consuming form work and centralizes all construction activities in a small casting yard, thus saving in cost and time against conventional bridge construction. From the quality point of view, it eliminates the uncertainty of monolithic behaviour by allowing high repetitiveness and industrial environment. But, from analysis and design point of view, the most characteristic aspect of incrementally launched bridges is that, it has to absorb the stresses associated with the temporary supports that are gradually taken on by the deck during its launch. So, it is necessary to analyse the structure for each step of launching which is a tedious and time consuming process. Effect of support settlements or temperature variation makes the problem more complex. By using transfer matrix method, this problem can be handled efficiently with minimal computational effort. This paper gives insight into method of analysis, formulation for optimization of the structural system, effect of support settlement and temperature gradient, during construction, on the stress state of incrementally launched bridges.

  • The dynamic output-feedback robust control method based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) method is presented for suppressing vibration response of a functionally graded material (FGM) beam with piezoelectric actuator/sensor layers in this paper. Based on the reduced model obtained by using direct mode truncation, the linear fractional state space representation of a piezoelectric FGM beam with material properties varying through the thickness is developed by considering both the inherent uncertainties in constitution material properties as well as material distribution and the model error due to mode truncation. The dynamic output-feedback robust H-infinity control law is implemented to suppress the vibration response of the piezoelectric FGM beam and the LMI method is utilized to convert control problem into convex optimization problem for efficient computation. In numerical studies, the flexural vibration control of a cantilever piezoelectric FGM beam is considered to investigate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed control method. Compared with the efficient linear quadratic regulator (LQR) widely employed in literatures, the proposed robust control method requires less control voltage applied to the piezoelectric actuator in the case of same control performance for the controlled closed-loop system.

  • Systematical robust stability analysis and design scheme for the feedback linearization control systems via fuzzy modeling are proposed. It is considered that uncertainty and disturbances are included in the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models representing the nonlinear plants. Robust stability of the closed system is analyzed by casting the systems into the diagonal norm bounded linear differential inclusions and by converting the analysis and design problems into the linear matrix inequality optimization, a numerical method for finding the maximum stable ranges of the fuzzy feedback linearization control gains is also proposed. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme, the robust stability analysis and control design examples are given.

  • An analytical method has been developed which determines lead in steel samples by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) with sample introduction by the hydride generation. The lead hydride is not stable and requires and oxidant for the oxidation into metastable Pb(IV) before reduction to $PbH_4$ with $NaBH_4$. A study was carried out to find and optimum lead hydride generation condition for a sample solution with more than $1000{\mu}g/mL$ Fe matrix. $K_2Cr_2O_7$ was found to work as an efficient oxidant when more than $10{\mu}g/mL$ Fe matrix was present. Lactic acid was used with the oxidant as a complexing agent of the metastable Pb(IV) to enhance sensitivity. Optimum concentrations of the sample acidity, oxidant and lactic acid were different depending on the matrix concentration. The isotope dilution method was employed for the quantitation of lead. The determined Pb concentrations of the NIST steel SRM 361 and 362 were in good agreement with the certified values within the uncertainty range.

  • The new social reality emerging amid the global rise of communication links and integration processes acutely emphasizes the problems of communication in large and small social systems. The method of their communication becomes one of the keys to ensuring global security. It has become the mission of humanitarian education to prepare the younger generations for life in a changing world with no image of the future and increasing uncertainty. In psychological and pedagogical research, there is a growing scientific interest in the problems of interaction of the individual with the social environment. The mental trace of a person's practice in society shapes the experience of social interaction, which constitutes simultaneously the source, tool, and condition for the emergence and development of personality. The study outlines the methodological foundations for the study of individual experiences of social interaction. A hypothesis about the productivity of the functional matrix method is tested. Materials for the training of specialists in the humanities include interdisciplinary approaches to the study and transformation of the experience of social interaction and systematic methodology for the study of complex objects. Fundamental to the study is the systematic-dialectical method, and the matrix method is employed as the instrumental-technological method. The paper presents the results of a multidisciplinary overview of scientific literature concerning the essential characteristics and functions of social interaction and the respective experience. The overview points to the fragmented nature of scientific understanding of the elements of experience outside its integrity and systemic properties. Based on the formula "personality interacts with the social environment", the study presents an algorithm for the application of a systematic methodology for the study of complex objects, which made it possible to identify the system parameters of experience at three levels of cognition and develop the reference structural and functional matrices for the didactic system of its pedagogical enrichment.

  • The parametric approaches to sliding mode design are newly proposed for the class of multivariable systems. Our approach is based on an explicit formula for representing all the slid-ing modes using the Lyapunov matrices of full order. By manipulating Lyapunov matrices, the sliding modes which satisfy the design criteria such as the quadratic performance optimization and robust stability to parametric uncertainty, etc., can be easily obtained. The proposed ap-proach enables us to adopt a variety of Lyapunov- (or Riccati-) based approaches to the sliding mode design. Applications to the quadratic performance optimization problem, uncertain systems, systems with uncertain state delay, and the pole-clustering problem are discussed.

  • This paper considers a robust observer-based $H_{\infty}$ controller design method for descriptor systems with parameter uncertainties using just one LMI condition. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the controller design method are presented by a perfect LMI condition in terms of all variables using singular value decomposition, Schur complement, and change of variables. Therefore, one of the main advantages is that a robust observer-based $H_{\infty}$ controller is found by solving one LMI condition compared with existing results. Numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller design method.
