This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the forest environmental factors(5 items) and physico-chemical properties of soil(13 items) on the growth of Pinus thunbergii stands. The 218 plots were sampled over the coastal district of the whole country. In statistical analysis, the explanatory variables were soil and environmental factors(18 items), and the response variable was the site index of Pinus thunbergii stands. Data computation was processed in order of preparation of original data, computation of inner correlation matrix table by correlation analysis, calculation of partial correlation coefficients and coefficients of determination, estimation of regression equation by stepwise begression analysis, and stepwise regression analysis by factor score of factor analysis. The main results obtained were summarized as follows ; 1. The site index in Pinus thunbergii stands way highly correlated with effective soil depth(r=0.8668), slope percentage, organic matter, and total nitrogen. 2. According to the coefficients by partial correlation analysis, effective soil depth(r=0.6270), slope percentage (r=-0.5423) and base saturation(r=0.3278) among environmental factors had a great effect on tree growth. 3. With stepwise regression analysis, the factors effecting on the Pinus thunbergii stands growth were effective soil depth, slope percentage, organic matter, base saturation, soil pH, content of silt, exchangeable Ca, and etc. 4. Estimation equation for the site index of Pinus thunbergii stands was given by $Y=13.2691+0.0242\;X_2-1.2244\;X_4+0.6142\;X_5-0.3472\;X_{11}+0.0355\;X_{13}+0.1552\;X_{15}-0.1002\;X_{17}$. The coefficient of determination for the estimation model was 0.77, which was significant at the 1 percent level. 5. In result of factor analysis by the environmental factors, principal components were 6 factors, and communality contribution percentage was 71.1 percent. 6. By stepwise regression analysis between factor score and site index of Pinus thunbergii stands, the factor group effecting on site index was 5 principal components. The coefficients of determination was 85 percent, which was significant at the 1 percent level. In conclusion, on the occasion of analizing which factors to effect on the tree height growth in Pinus thunbergii stands the stepwise regression analysis proved to be greatly significant. Also the management of Pinus thunbergii stands should be working by the above selected growth factors.

Origin-destination data have been collected and utilized for demand analysis and service design in various fields such as public transportation and traffic operation. As the utilization of big data becomes important, there are increasing needs to store raw origin-destination data for big data analysis. However, it is not practical to store and analyze the raw data for a long period of time since the size of the data increases by the power of the number of the collection points. To overcome this storage limitation and long-period pattern analysis, this study proposes a methodology for compression and origin-destination data analysis with the compressed data. The proposed methodology is applied to public transit data of Sejong and Seoul. We first measure the reconstruction error and the data size for each truncated matrix. Then, to determine a range of principal components for removing random data, we measure the level of the regularity based on covariance coefficients of the demand data reconstructed with each range of principal components. Based on the distribution of the covariance coefficients, we found the range of principal components that covers the regular demand. The ranges are determined as 1~60 and 1~80 for Sejong and Seoul respectively.

Purpose: Computed tomography theoretically should improve detection of foreign bodies and provide more information of adjacent soft tissues. And the CT scanner and PACS program proved to be an excellent instrument for detection and localization of most facial foreign bodies above certain minimum levels of detectability. The severity of injury in penetrating trauma to the face, it is often underestimated by physical examination. Diagnosis of a retained foreign object is always critical. Methods: From March, 2005 to February 2008 a study was done with 200 patients who had facial trauma. Axial and coronal CT images were obtained with a General Electric(Milwaukee, Wis) 9800 CT scanner at 130 kV, 90 mA, with a 2-mm section thickness and a $512{\times}512$ matrix. Results: Axial and coronal CT images at various window widths should be used as the first imaging modality to detect facial foreign bodies. The attenuation coefficients for the metallic and nonmetallic foreign bodies ranged from -437 to +3071 HU. As a general rule, metallic foreign bodies produced more Hounsfield artifacts than nonmetallic foreign bodies, thus providing a clue to their composition. All of the metallic foreign bodies were represented by a single peak and had a maximum attenuation coefficient of +3071 HU. Of the nonmetallic foreign bodies, glass had an attenuation coefficient that ranged from +105 to +2039, while plastic had a much lower coefficient that ranged from -62 to -35. wood had the lowest range of attenuation coefficients: -491 to -437. Conclusion: The PACS program allows one to distinguish metallic from nonmetallic foreign bodies and to individually identify the specific composition of many nonmetallic foreign bodies. This program does not, however, allow identification of the specific composition of a metallic foreign body. We recommend this type of software program for CT scanning of any patient with an injury to the face in which a foreign body is suspected.
The theoretical study is developed for predicting the thermal expansion changes of composites which include complex inclusion, which is used three-dimensional ellipsoid model ($a_1>a_2>a_3$), which has two aspect ratios (the primary aspect ratio, $\rho_{\alpha}=a_1/a_3$ and the secondary aspect ratio, $\rho_{\beta}=a_1/a_2$). We can predict the feature of general thermal expansion factors by theoretical approach of matrix with aligned ellipsoidal inclusion using the Eshelby's equivalent tensor. The coefficients of longitudinal linear thermal expansion ${\alpha}_{11}$ decrease to those of inclusions, ${\alpha}_f$, as both aspect ratios increase. The coefficients of transverse linear thermal expansion of composites ${\alpha}_{33}$ initially increase and show the parabolic corves with maximum values, as the concentrations of filler increase. The coefficient of thermal expansion, ${\alpha}_{22}$ in the transverse direction decreases, as $\rho_{\alpha}$ increases, however, ${\alpha}_{22}$ increases as $\rho_{\beta}$ increases. The coefficient of linear thermal expansion of composites, ${\alpha}_{33}$ in the normal direction increases, as $\rho_{\alpha}$ increases, while ${\alpha}_{33}$ decreases as $\rho_{\beta}$ increases.

For the analysis of vertical vibrations of a ship's hull, the Timoshenko beam analogy is accepted up to seven or eight-node modes provided that the system parameters are properly calculated. As to the shear coefficient, it has been a common practice to apply the strain energy method or the projected area method. The theoretical objection to the former is that it ignores lateral contraction due to Poisson's ratio, and the latter is of extreme simplifications. Recently, Cowper's and Stephen's shear coefficient formulas have drawn ship vibration analysts' attentions because these formulas, derivation of which are based on an integrations of the equations of three-dimensional elasticity, take Poisson's ratio into account. Providing computer programs for calculation of the shear coefficient of ship sections modeled as thin-walked multicell sections by each of the forementioned methods, the authors calculated natural vibration characteristics of a bulk carrier and of a container ship by the transfer matrix method using shear coefficients obtained by each of the methods, and discussed the results in comparision. The major conclusions resulted from this investigation are as follows: (1) The shear coefficients taking account of the effects of Poisson's ratio, Cowper's $K_c$ and Stephen's $K_s$, result in higher values of about 10% in maximum as compared with the shear coefficient $K_o$ based on the conventional strain energy methods; (a) $K_c/K_o{\cong}1.05\;and\;K_s/K_o{\cong}1.10$ for ships having single skin side-shell such as a bulk carrier. (b) $K_c/K_o{\cong}1.02\;and\;K_s/K_o{\cong}1.05$ for ships having longitudinally through bulkheads and/or double side-shells in the portion of the cargo hod such as a container carrier. (2) The distributions of the effective shear area along the ship's hull based on each of $K_o,\;K_c\;and\;K_s$ are similar each another except the both end portions. (3) Natural frequencies and mode shapes of the hull based on each of $K_c\;and\;K_s$ are of small differences as compared each other. (4) In cases of using $K_c\;or\;K_s$ in ship vibration analysis, it is also desirable to have the bending rigidity be corrected according to the effective breadth concept. And then, natural frequencies and mode shapes calculated with the bending rigidity corrected in the above and with each of $K_o,\;K_c\;and\;K_s$ result in small differences as compared each another. (5) Referring to those mentioned in the above (3) and (4) and to the full-scale experimental results reported by Asmussen et al.[17], and considering laboursome to prepare the computer input data, the following suggestions can safely be made; (a) Use of $K_o$ in ship vibration analysis is appropriate in practical senses. (b) Use of $K_c$ is appropriate even for detailed vibration analysis of a ship's hull. (6) The effective shear area based on the projected area method is acceptable for the two-node mode.
This paper proposes a model for the solutions predicting the coefficient of thermal expansion of composites including fiber-like shaped$(a_1>a_2=a_3)$ and disk-like shaped$(a_1=a_2>a_3)$ inclusions like two dimensional geometries, which was analyzed by one axis and a single aspect ratio, $(\rho_\alpha=a_1/a_3)$. The analysis follows the procedure developed for elastic moduli by using the Lee and Paul's approach. The effects of the aspect ratio on the coefficient of thermal expansion of composites containing aligned isotropic inclusions are examined. This model should be limited to analyze the composites with unidirectionally aligned inclusions and with complete binding to each other of both matrix and inclusions having homogeneous properties. The longitudinal coefficients of thermal expansion $\alpha_{11}$ decrease and approach the coefficient of thermal expansion of filler, as the aspect ratios increase. However, the transverse coefficients of thermal expansion $\alpha_{33}$ increase or decrease with the aspect ratios.

In this paper, an efficient design of HEVC Adaptive Loop Filter(ALF) for filter coefficients estimation is proposed. The ALF performs Cholesky decomposition of $10{\times}10$ matrix iteratively to estimate filter coefficients. The Cholesky decomposition of the ALF consists of root and division operation which is difficult to implement in a hardware design because it needs to many computation rate and processing time due to floating-point unit operation of large values of the Maximum 30bit in a LCU($64{\times}64$). The proposed hardware architecture is implemented by designing a root operation based on Cholesky decomposition by using multiplexer, subtracter and comparator. In addition, The proposed hardware architecture of efficient and low computation rate is implemented by designing a pipeline architecture using characteristic operation steps of Cholesky decomposition. An implemented hardware is designed using Xilinx ISE 14.3 Vertex-6 XC6VCX240T FPGA device and can support a frame rate of 40 4K Ultra HD($4096{\times}2160$) frames per second at maximum operation frequency 150MHz.
No currently available methods to monitor pathogenic protozoa, Cryptosporidium and Giardia in environmental water come close to acceptable sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility, and so it has to be accompanied by thorough quality control and performance evaluation to credibly predict the distribution of them. We collected surface water samples from the Han River and spiked our prepared (oo)cysts, determined Matrix Spike recoveries using USEPA Method 1623 and considered what factors influence MS recovery and validity. As a result, average 46% of spiked oocysts and 60% of spike cysts were recovered, but repetitive sampling and statistical approach seemed to be necessary to determine the environmental pollution level of two protozoa as their variation coefficients was so much as 35oio and 26%. And MS recoveries with two acid dissociations during immunomagnetic separation were improved more 10% than that with one dissociations and the use of spiked suspension enumerated by flow cytometry instead of manual preparation enhanced the validity and reliability in spiking tests. Because fluorescence characteristics of (oo)cysts stained on well slides with FITC-labeled monoclonal antibodies and DAPI was not always same, well Elides from spiked field samples were helpful to evaluate the performance of staining. We found many (oo)cyst-like objects with typical fluorescence, not (co)cysts, from the Han River water samples, and then it was concluded that nuclei staining by DAPI (4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) and examination by Differential Interference Contrast Microscope should be critical for valid identification.

This paper proposes an effective watermarking approach for copyright protection of fire video images. The proposed watermarking approach efficiently utilizes the inherent characteristics of fire data with respect to color and texture by using a gray level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) and fuzzy c-means (FCM) clustering. GLCM is used to generate a texture feature dataset by computing energy and homogeneity properties for each candidate fire image block. FCM is used to segment color of the fire image and to select fire texture blocks for embedding watermarks. Each selected block is then decomposed into a one-level wavelet structure with four subbands [LL, LH, HL, HH] using a discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and LH subband coefficients with a gain factor are selected for embedding watermark, where the visibility of the image does not affect. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking approach achieves about 48 dB of high peak-signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and 1.6 to 2.0 of low M-singular value decomposition (M-SVD) values. In addition, the proposed approach outperforms conventional image watermarking approach in terms of normalized correlation (NC) values against several image processing attacks including noise addition, filtering, cropping, and JPEG compression.
This paper proposes the new high-performance circuit architecture of the transform and quantization for unified video CODEC. The proposed architecture can be applied to all kinds of transforms and quantizations for the video compression standards such as JPEG, MPEG-1/2/4, H.264 and VC-1. We defined the permutation matrices to reorder the transform matrix of the $8{\times}8$ DCT and partitioned the reordered $8{\times}8$ transform matrix into four $4{\times}4$ sub-matrices. The $8{\times}8$ DCT is performed by repeating the $4{\times}4$ DCT's based on the reordered and partitioned transform matrices. Since our circuit accepts the transform coefficients from the users, it can be extended very easily to cover any kind of DCT-based transforms for future standards. The multipliers in the DCT circuit are shared by the quantization circuit in order to minimize the circuit size. The quantization circuit is merged into the DCT circuit without any significant increase of circuit resources and processing time. We described the proposed DCT and quantization circuit at RTL, and verified its operation on FPGA board.
