This paper proposes a carrier-based pulse width modulation (PWM) method to control an indirect matrix converter (IMC) by analyzing the relationship between the space vector PWM (SVPWM) and the carrier-based PWM. The complexity of the SVPWM method for an IMC can be reduced by using an equivalent carrier-based PWM method. The advantage of the proposed algorithm is its ability use only one symmetrical triangular carrier signal to generate the gate signals for all of the power switches in both the rectifier and inverter stages as compared to the conventional method where the carrier signal used in the rectifier stage is different from that of the inverter stage. In addition, by using a suitable offset voltage component in the modulation signals, the output voltage magnitude reaches 0.866 of the input voltage magnitude. Simulation and experimental results are provided in order to validate the proposed method.

This paper presents a carrier-based modulation method for the control of a matrix converter. By using the offset voltage and changing the slope of the carrier, it is possible to synthesize sinusoidal input currents with unity power factor and the desired output voltages. The proposed method is equivalent to the so called SVPWM (Space Vector PWM) method, but its implementation is much easier. Moreover, the proposed method is very attractive because it is possible to apply the 2 phase t 3 phase modulation method, overmodulation method and other methods which are well-developed in the study of voltage source inverters (VSI) to the matrix coverter modulation. The feasibility of the proposed modulation method has been verified by computer simulation and experimental results.
In a matrix converter, input side and output side are coupled with each other through switching elements. Since disturbances on either side affect directly on the other side, it requires a high-speed on-line control system to compensate them. We proposed in previous papers a new control strategy and an on-line control circuit for a matrix converter. The control circuit could keep the output voltage at commanded value against fluctuation in the supply voltage. Furthermore wave forms of the output voltage and the input current were always kept sinusoidal. The switching pattern was generated by comparing modified voltage references with a carrier. The carrier was synchronized with the supply voltage using a PLL system, which made the control circuit complicated and costly. This paper discusses on the possibility of an asynchronized carrier. Experiment results show the input current distortion in case of asynchronous carrier is bigger than that of synchronous carrier. However, the deterioration can be minimized by increased carrier frequency.
In this paper, an effective carrier-based modulation (CBM) strategy to reduce the switching losses for indirect matrix converters (IMCs) is presented. The discontinuous pulse width modulation method is applied to decrease the switching numbers in one carrier cycle, and an optimum offset voltage is selected to avoid commutations of the high output phase currents. By decreasing the switching numbers along with avoiding commutation of the high currents, the proposed CBM strategy significantly reduces the switching losses in IMCs. In addition, the proposed CBM strategy is independent of load conditions, such as load power and power factor, and it has good performance in terms of the input/output waveforms. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed CBM strategy.

This paper presents a new carrier based pulse-width modulation (PWM) method for matrix converters. By using the concept of average over one switching period, the modulation algorithm and the required equations are derived to synthesize the desired output voltage and to achieve the controlled input power factor. The proposed method uses a continuous carrier and the predetermined duty ratio signals to directly generate the gating signals and, thus, is referred to as "direct duty ratio PWM (DDPWM)". The feasibility and validity of the proposed method were verified by simulation and experiment.

A simple mathematical model for gacilitated mass transport with a fixed site carrier membrane was derived by assuming an instantaneous, microscopic concentration (activity) fluctuation, The concentration fluctuation, developed due to reversible chemical reaction between carrier and solute, could acuse the higher chemical potential gradient and the facilitated transport. For mathematical formulation, an analogy was employed between the mass transfer for the facilitated transport with fixed site carrier membrane and the electron transfer in a parallel resistor-capacitor (RC) circuit. For the single RC model, it was assumed that a single capacitor represented the total carrier and a solute could not inter-diffuse between matrix and carrier, allowing only two diffusional pathways, This assumption was relaxed by adopting a serial combination of the parallel RC circuit. Here, a solute diffuses in two elements (matrix or carrier) can exchange its pathway, exhibiting four diffusional pathways. The current models were examined against experimental data and the agreement was exceptional.
The valiclity of the simple mathematical model for facilitated transport in a solid state membrane developed previously has been examined againsts the carrier concentration and membrane thick-ness. Membranes are prepared with copolymer of styrene and 4-vinylpyridine as a matrix and Co(salen) as a carrier. 4-Vinylpyridine is incorporated to provide the coordination site for Co(salen) carrier. Oxygen permeability through the facilitated transport membrane is linearly increased with the square of its thick-ness, as predicted by the mathematical model. However, the oxygen permeability does not increase linearly with the carrier concentration. This seems to be due to the deactivation of the carrier by dimerization at high carrier concentrations as well as the reduced chain mobility by coordination of bulky Co(salen) carrier.
Hydrocortisone (HC) sustained-release suppositories were prepared by using a solid matrix of methacrylic acid-methacrylic acid methyl ester copolymer $(Eudragit\;L_{100}^{R}:\;EL)$ as a poorly water soluble carrier and polyethylene glycole 1540 (PEG) as an water soluble carrier. HC release rate was controlled by complexation with ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$$({\beta}-CyD)$ which was confirmed by X-ray diffractometry, IR-spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. Release rate of HC from the EL-PEG matrix suppositories decreased with increase of EL contents. The release rale from $HC-{\beta}-CyD$ complex decreased in the following order: $HC-{\beta}-CyD/PEG$ > HC/PEG > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{10%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{10%}-PEG$ > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{15%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{15%}-PEG$ > $HC-{\beta}-CyD/EL_{20%}-PEG$ > $HC/EL_{20%}-PEG$. The crystallinity of HC in polymer matrix was identified using X-ray diffractometer and the surface of matrix suppositories after release test was examined by scanning electron microscopy. The sustained release of HC from these matrix suppositories was attributed to the network structure of EL.
This paper proposes a new doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) system using a matrix converter controlled by direct duty ratio pulse-width modulation (DDPWM) scheme. DDPWM is a recently proposed carrier based modulation strategy for matrix converters which employs a triangular carrier and voltage references in a voltage source inverter. By using DDPWM, the matrix converter can directly and effectively generate rotor voltages following the voltage references within the closed control loop. The operation of the proposed DFIG system was verified through computer simulation and experimental works with a hardware simulator of a wind power turbine, which was built using a motor-generator set with vector drive. The simulation and experimental results confirm that a matrix converter with a DDPWM modulation scheme can be effectively applied for a DFIG wind power system.

With the development of covert communication technologies, the number of covert communication technologies using blockchain as a carrier is increasing. However, using the transaction amount of digital currency as a carrier for covert communication has problems such as low embedding rate, large consumption of transaction amount, and easy detection. In this paper, firstly, by experimentally analyzing the distribution of bitcoin transaction amounts, we determine the most suitable range of amounts for matrix decomposition. Secondly, we design a novel matrix decomposition method that can successfully decompose a large amount matrix into two small amount matrices and utilize the elements in the small amount matrices for covert communication. Finally, we analyze the feasibility of the novel matrix decomposition method in this scheme in detail from four aspects, and verify it by experimental comparison, which proves that our scheme not only improves the embedding rate and reduces the consumption of transaction amount, but also has a certain degree of resistance to detection.
