  • Various graph clustering methods have been introduced to identify communities in social or biological networks. This paper studies the entropy-based and the Markov chain-based methods in clustering the undirected graph. We examine the performance of two clustering methods with conventional methods based on quality measures of clustering. For the real applications, we collect the mathematical subject classification (MSC) codes of research papers from published mathematical databases and construct the weighted code-to-document matrix for applying graph clustering methods. We pursue to group MSC codes into the same cluster if the corresponding MSC codes appear in many papers simultaneously. We compare the MSC clustering results based on the several assessment measures and conclude that the Markov chain-based method is suitable for clustering the MSC codes.

  • We consider a single channel CSMA/CD system with D homogeneous stations and impeded buffer of infinite size. We find a sufficient condition for the model to be stable under the threshold control policy and derive the limiting distri-bution of the number of messages in the system at the moment of service completion. We also derive the limiting distributing of the number of messages in the system size at arbitrary time by using Markov regenerative processes. Some numerical examples and special cases are also treated.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analysis with contents on thoughts and problems of philosophy of mathematics concerning around harmonical types of metaphysics and philosophy of mathematics. Moreover, we were gratefully acknowledged that the questions at issue of metaphysics and philosophy of mathematics are possible only in a philosophical position of mathematics in relation to nature of mathematical ion. These attitudes, important as they are in the study of an individual thinker, also have a pronounced effect on the future relation of mathematics to philosophy. And we can guess that many mathematician's research will have significant meaning in the future.

  • Scale Invariant Transforms are defined for both one- and two- dimensioned input functions. These have the desirable properties of linearity and invariance to scale change of the input.

  • Felix Klein profoundly influenced mathematical developments throughout the world by showing a new direction for modem geometry. He also influenced the lives of excellent scientists like Einstein by reforming mathematical education. The first Felix Klein medal of the Internal Commission on Mathematical Instruction was awarded at ICME-10 in July of 2004. In this article, we discuss Klein's Erlangen Program and investigate his influence on modem mathematics and mathematical education with this medal as momentum.
