  • One of the essential issues in model systems is how to represent and manipulate mathematical modeling knowledge. As the bases of integrated modeling environments, current modeling frameworks have limitations: lack of facility to coordinate different users perpectives and lack of mechanism to reuse modeling knowledge. In this paper, multi-facetted modeling approach is proposed as a basis for the development of integrated modeling environment which provides facilities for (1) independent management of modeling knowledge from individual models; (2) object-oriented conceptual blackboard concept; (3) multi-facetted modeling; and (4) declarative representation of mathematical knowledge. The proposed multi-facetted approach is illustrated using multicommodity transportation models.

  • The constructivism is an important stream of the recent trends of mathematics education. In order for students to construct their knowledge for themselves, above all, it should be a prerequisite that they participate in actively, Using games helps students to participate in learning mathematics actively. I think, up to now, mathematics teachers use games mainly for motivation and it does not connect to true learning mathematics through using games. So, the purposes of this study are developing the mathematical games connecting to mathematical contents closely, designing the teaching models to connect game activities to learning mathematics, and developing several teaching plans using games to mathematics class. In this study, I propose what conditions 'good' game should have, classify games as practice game, concept learning game, and strategy game, and develop 43 games from 1 to 6 grade. And I design the teaching models depending on the game types and develop the teaching plans.

  • Mathematical model of maneuvering motion for a single-screw single-rudder ship is established and several applications to the special situations of maneuvering are attempted. While, the mathematical model for twin-screw twin-rudder ship is not presented so much, because that type of ship is not popular. Lee et al. have examined the characteristics of such ship by captive model tests in 1988, in Japan. This paper proposes new mathematical models for propeller effective wake (1 -${\omega}_p$) and effective neutral rudder angle ${delta}_R$ in the case of twin-screw twin-rudder ship. And some maneuvering motionse are calculated with proposed models and compared with exact simulations.

  • This paper was performed on the automatic selection of cutting condition on multispindle machine. the several mathematical relationships were formulated for simulataneous selection of machining parameters and tool changing scheme. In this research we used two step generative approach; step 1 is mathematical modeling for the selection of optimal cutting conditions and the other is GMDH-TYPE modeling to find prediction equation of system performance. thus in this paper, mathematical machining models combined with a heuristic GMDH-TYPE modeling to estimate the system performance, these models are developed computer programs for practical application and it was shown that the proposed approach has a good potential and offers a valuable tools to performance evaluation for metal cutting system.

  • Nowadays many articles describe the controlling models for four rotor flying vehicle. Basic approaches to the problem of these articles are mathematical expressions describing dynamics of the models of the vehicle and PID control for manipulating the object in 3 dimensional space. Design of control systems is usually started by careful consideration of its mathematical model description. We present a detailed mathematical model for a quad rotor. This paper first considers simulation of quadcopter control based on full state feedback technique with linearization in MATLAB environment and shows the results of the simulations. Finally will be shown experimental results of the state feedback control implemented in real model.

  • In this study, mathematical modelling for initial motion of test vehicle launched from sliding launcher is performed, and simulation results from this mathematical models are verified by comparing them with sea trial results. Especially, it is showed that models using strip method give better results than using empirical formulae and linear equations of motion. This mathematical model can give useful tools to design sliding launchers or test vehicles.

  • Recently, to utilize conutry effectively, many concrete structures such as Young Jong Do New Airport. SeoHae Bridege are being constructed. Therefore, Corrosion of steel reinforcement of concrete structures become more and more serious, and prediction of service lives of concrete structures considering steel corrosion is needed much more. The methodologies of predicting service life have been studied for various views, but mathematical modelling based on diffusion theory is generally applied. The purpose of this paper is to investigate current mathematical models, and suggest theoretical basis on estimation of service lives of concrete structures in marine environment. Thus, the procedures for selecting variables such as threshold chloride concentration, diffusion coefficient, etc are suggested, and the service lives calculated through these procedures for various diffusion coefficients and cover depths are presented.

  • An analytic approach that provides explicit estimates of risk on cataract and epilation data is evaluated by reasonableness of conceivable relative risk models regarding a simple, odds, logistic or Gompertz regression method, assuming a binomial distribution. In these analyses, we apply relative risk models with two thresholds between epilators and nonepilators from a highly characteristic lesion of which radiation cataract does not occur around 2 gray for a single acute exposure. The risk models are fitted to the data assuming 10 as a constant relative biological effectiveness of neutron. The likelihood of observing the entire data set in these models fitted is evaluated by an individual binary-response array. Estimation of a threshold with or without severe epilation and the 100 ($1-\alpha$)% confidence limits are derived from the maximum likelihood approach. The relative risk model with two thresholds can be expressed as a formula with structure of Background $\times$ RR, where RR includes threshold models with or without epilation. The radiosensitivity of ionizing radiation to cataracts has been examined for the relationship between epilators and nonepilators.

  • The mathematical models for the receptive field of simple cells in the human visual system have been developed in the areas of psychophysics, physiology and neuroscience. The various models used in the fields of digital image processing and computer vision include Gator complex, Gaussian derivatives and Hermite functions. In this paper, the effective widths for the models are derived based on the space-frequency uncertainty principle. The center frequency and parameters related to the models are determined in accordance with the human visual filters, and resultant bandwidths are analyzed. Furthermore, the characteristics of space and frequency for the models is analyzed and compared to the experimental data obtained from psychophysics.
