  • The purpose of this study is to obtain a foundation data for chassis design and road noise reduction of automobiles. Using the combination of the automobile, radial tires and instrumentation equipment, experimental investigation was carried out to examine the characteris- tics of the structural vibration of tire as the key to obtaining the effective parameters for reducing road noise. From the results of this studies it has been confirmed that the specific ranges of natural frequency of tire exciting the suspension and chassis system. And the tire, axle and chassis natural frequency of automobile govern the road noise. Results show that material properties of tire and experimental condition are major parameter for shifting of tire natural frequency. These results would be utilized as basic materials for the design of chassis design with papametric study, which enables a designer of an automobile to foresee the influence of the various design factors or operating conditions.

  • This paper aims at designing an accelerated life test sampling plan for bulk material and showing its application for an arc-welded gas pipe. It is an integrated model of the accelerated life test procedure and bulk sampling procedure. The accelerated life tests were performed by the regulation, RSD 0005 of ATS at KITECH and bulk sampling was used for acceptance. Design parameters might be total sample size(segments and increments), stress level and so on. We focus on deciding the sample size by minimizing the asymptotic variance of test statistic as well as satisfying consumer's risk under Weibull life time distribution with primary information on shape parameter.

  • Design and evaluation of AGV-based material handling systems are very complicated due to the randomness and the large number of variables involved Vehicle travel time is a key parameter for designing and evaluating AGV systems. Although loaded travel time is relatively easy to estimate, determination of empty vehicle travel time is difficult due to the inherent randomness of material handling systems. Most previous studies assume that the empty vehicle travel time is the same as the loaded travel time or assume very specific environments. This paper presents new vehicle travel time models for AGV-based material transport systems. The research effort is focused on the estimation of empty vehicle travel time under various vehicle dispatching policies. Simulation experiments are used to verify the proposed travel time models.

  • In recent years, analog to digital converter is significant component in high frame rate system. But, in the future. as long as minimum line width is reduced, matching between speed and resolution may be worse. In this paper, first-order $\Sigma-\Delta$ analog to digital converter is adopted and designed as its solutions. Hspice simulation is performed, using $0.65{\mu}m$ CMOS 2-poly 2-metal model parameter.

  • The work presented in this paper includes material characterisation and an investigation of suitability in seismic dampers for two commercially available NiTi-alloys, along with a numerical analysis of a new damper system employing composite NiTi-wires. Numerical simulations of the new damper system are conducted, using Brinson's one-dimensional constitutive model for shape memory alloys, with emphasis on the system's energy dissipation capabilities. The two alloys tested showed some unwanted residual strain at temperatures higher than $A_f$, possibly due to stress concentrations near inclusions in the material. These findings show that the alloys are not ideal, but may be employed in a seismic damper if precautions are made. The numerical investigations indicate that using composite NiTi-wires in a seismic damper enhances the energy dissipation capabilities for a wider working temperature range.

  • A multilayer two-stage LC bandpass filter using low-temperature cofired-ceramic (LTCC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed bandpass filter is composed of two ceramic substrates with different dielectric constant instead of single ceramic material from top to bottom layer. The bandpass filter size is $2.0 mm{\times}1.2 mm{\times}0.8 mm$. Positioning of attenuation polefrequency, importance parameter for a performance of filter, is discussed using even-odd mode analysis by tuned capacitance of coupling capacitor and those results is implemented to LTCC filter circuit. Measured filter performances show that the insertion losses are -4.5dB, -4.1dB at 2.45GHz, 2.75GHz and the return losses are -8.5dB, 8.7dB.

  • For developing acoustic window, transmission loss in accordance with incident angle was calculated and compared with measurement results. In design stage, the material choice of acoustic window is very important because the material is parameter of transmission loss and structural strength. In order to analyze the effect of material properties on transmission loss, the parametric studies were carried out and the results were discussed in this paper.

  • In this article, the influence of small scale effects on the free vibration response of curved magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded (MEE-FG) nanobeams has been investigated considering nonlocal elasticity theory. Power-law is used to judge the through thickness material property distribution of MEE nanobeams. The Euler-Bernoulli beam model has been adopted and through Hamilton's principle the Nonlocal governing equations of curved MEE-FG nanobeam are obtained. The analytical solutions are obtained and validated with the results reported in the literature. Several parametric studies are performed to assess the influence of nonlocal parameter, magnetic potential, electric voltage, opening angle, material composition and slenderness ratio on the dynamic behaviour of MEE curved nanobeams. It is believed that the results presented in this article may serve as benchmark results in accurate analysis and design of smart nanostructures.

  • There have been strong demands for micro size screw with high precision due to miniaturization and integration trends for electronic products such as Hard Disk Drives. The thread rolling process for screw manufacturing are lower unit cost, reduced material utilization, and superior mechanical properties compared to the machining process. But little work has been done on the thread rolling of micro size screw. In this paper, we investigate thread rolling process using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and parameter study for screw manufacturing. And we also carried out compression tests to obtain the material property and to implement into the FE tool for the numerical simulation. In case that parameter of relative position oldies is half length of pitch for maintaining the continuous thread profiles, we found that shear friction factor was 0.9 during the thread rolling process using FEA. We are trying to develop the thread rolling process using the FE-simulation to manufacture screws which have been commonly produced from the industrial level fabrication at present.

  • In this work, a CPW resonator was designed and fabricated to investigate the basic microwave properties, such as effective dielectric constant, of BST thin films. Their properties were used as basic data to simulate and design CPW tunable bandpass filter. We also report on gold/$Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}TiO_3$(BST) ferroelectric thin film C-band tunable bandpass filters(BPFs) designed and fabricated on magnesium oxide substrates using CPW structure. The 2 pole filter was designed for a center frequency of 5.88 GHz with a bandwidth of 9 %. The BST based CPW filter offers a high sensitivity parameter as well as a low loss parameter. The tuning range for the bandpass filter with CPW structure was determined to be 170 MHz.
