  • Recently, the HFPD measurement testing is widely used in partial discharge measurement of HV machines because HFPD measurement testing receives less influence of external noise and has a merit of good sensitivity. Also HFPD testing is able to offer the judgement standard of degradation level of HV machine and can detect discharge signals in live-line. Therefore it is very useful method compare to previous conventional PD testing method and effective diagnosis method in power transformer that requires live-line diagnosis. But partial discharges have very complex characteristics of discharge pattern so it is required continuous research to development of precise analysis method. In recent, the study of partial discharge is carrying out discover of initial defect of power equipment through condition diagnosis and system development of degradation diagnosis using HFPD(High Frequency Partial Discharge) detection. In this study, simulated transformer is manufactured and HFPD occurred from transformer is measured with broad band antenna in real time, the degradation grade of transformer is analyzed through produced patterns in simulated transformer according to applied voltages.

  • In this paper, we obtained the data, which is required in training the neural network and diagnosing the degradation degree, by introducing the AE detection that is effective method in ordinary degradation diagnosis on activation. Automatic detection system to detect acoustic. As the results of generalization tests by appling neural network to the unknown AE patterns obtained from specimens, firstly as to evaluate an objective performance of neural network, the recognition ratio for no-void specimen is appeared. Also, in the evaluation for the adaptability of neural network with a untrained type of no-void specimen, it is confirmed that the result appears.

  • Degradation diagnosis of XLPE insulated URD cables was accomplished through out new method. which was to be analyzed non-electrical experiments and synthesized by degradation points. To supplement this method, it was also carried out using several electrical analyses. Breakdown voltages were measured and breakdown lifetimes were Predicted appling for Weibull distribution function. As a result, breakdown lifetime in failure cables was shorted up to 1/3 times than that in general cables. It was very available to estimate cable degradation using above method, but it needs further study on XLPE insulated URD cables in order to improve reliability.

  • Degradation effects observed in nonvolatile MNOS memory devices with in increasing W/E (Write/Erase) cycling were investigated using n-type MNOS capacitors. The results showed that the density of Si-SiO$_2$ interface states and the conductivity of nitride were increased with W/E cycles, therefore the memory retention characteristics of the MNOS memory devices were degraded. Also, annealing of the degraded devices restored the original Si-SiO$_2$ interface states density, but failed to restore the original nitride conductivity. Based on these experimental results, we found that the degradation of memory retention characteristic was affected by the nitride conductivity rather than by Si-SiO$_2$ interface states.

  • Degradation characteristics of the Pr-based ZnO varistor with $Y_2O_3$content (0.0-4.0 mol!%j were investigated. It was appeared that the variation of the J-E characteristics in the reverse direction before and after the applied stress with increasing $Y_2O_3$ content was larger than that of the forward direction but the variation was extrernly small. For all varistor, the leakage current with the stress time during the applied stress somewhat increased initialy but afterthat was almost constant or slightly decreased. The overall varistor voltage and nonlinear coefficient were less than 5%. Especially, in the case of Pr-based ZnO varistor containing 2.0 mol% to 4.0 mol% $Y_2O_3$, the variation of breakdown voltage and nonlinear coefficient was less than 1% and 5%. respectively. As a result, they showed good stability.

  • The multiaxial fatigue test under in-phase and out-of$.$phase load were performed to study what degradation phenomenon affects fatigue life with virgin and 3600 hrs degraded materials. The various kind of fatigue data fur fatigue life prediction were acquired under pure axial and pure torsional load of fully reversal condition. The models which was investigated are: 1) the von Mises equivalent strain range, 2) the critical shear plane approach method of Fatemi-Socie(FS) parameter, 3) the modified Smith-Watson-Topper(SWT) parameter. The result showed that, fatigue life by material degradation are decreased and life prediction which was used the FS parameter is not conservative but the best result.

  • We have studied how the characteristics degradation between effective mobility and field effect mobility of gate channel in p-MOSFET's affects the gate channel length being follow by increased stress time and increased drain-source voltage stress. The experimental results between effective and field-effect mobility were analyzed that the measurement data are identical at the point of minimum slope in threshold voltage, the other part is different, that is, the effective mobility it the faster than the field-effect mobility. Also, It was found that the effective and field-effect mobility. Also, It was found that the effective and field-effect mobility of p-MOSFET's with short channel are increased by decreased channel length, increased stress time and increased drain-source voltage stress.

  • Treeing due to partial discharge(PD) is one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials and reduction of tile insulation life. Therefore the necessity for establishing a method to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict the breakdown of insulation has become important. From this viewpoint, our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the method of computer sensing system, which has the advantages of PD and acoustic emission(AE) sensing system. To use advantages of these two methods can be used effectively to search for treeing location and PD in some materials. In analysis method of degradation. using statically operator such as the center of gravity (G). the gradient of the discharge distribution(C), we have analyzed far tole prediction of life which we can be obtained the time, occurred of many pulse of small discharge amplitude.

  • In this paper, study on the properties of the thermal degradated epoxy resin which is used in indoor insulation apparatus is performed to investigate the problems of the decreasing insulation characteristics and crack in the indoor insulation apparatus. As a parameter of variation, SEM, contact angle, surface resistivity, relative dielectric constant and weight loss are measured. As the results of the above measurements, the contact angle and surface resistivity of the epoxy resin has increased to 200$^{\circ}C$ in but at the above 200$^{\circ}C$ the values have decreased. The relative dielectric constants the thermal treated samples have increased on with the temperature increase. We find the volatile components of the epoxy resin compound has disappeared during thermal degradation by SEM. The insulation properties of the epoxy resin have increased by the 200$^{\circ}C$ but decreased in the above 200$^{\circ}C$.

  • Evolution of microstructure due to service exposure to high temperature has a strong effect performance of heat resistant steels. In case of modified 9Cr-1Mo steels, precipitation of $Fe_2Mo$-type laves phases and coarcening of $M_23C_6$-type carbides is the primary cause of degradation of mechanical properties such as creep resistance, tensile strength and toughness. Creep tests have been carried out on pre-aging mod. 9Cr-1Mo steels to examine the effect of pre-aging and stress on the creep strength. Based on the results, a nondestructive procedure, where electrochemical technique that quantitatively detect laves phases and $M_23C_6$-type carbides in a material is used, has been proposed to evaluate a residual creep life of mod. 9Cr-1Mo steels.
