This article investigates the wave propagation analysis of the imperfect functionally graded (FG) sandwich plates based on a novel simple four-variable integral quasi-3D higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT). The thickness stretching effect is considered in the transverse displacement component. The presented formulation ensures a parabolic variation of the transverse shear stresses with zero-stresses at the top and the bottom surfaces without requiring any shear correction factors. The studied sandwich plates can be used in several sectors as areas of aircraft, construction, naval/marine, aerospace and wind energy systems, the sandwich structure is composed from three layers (two FG face sheets and isotropic core). The material properties in the FG faces sheet are computed according to a modified power law function with considering the porosity which may appear during the manufacturing process in the form of micro-voids in the layer body. The Hamilton principle is utilized to determine the four governing differential equations for wave propagation in FG plates which is reduced in terms of computation time and cost compared to the other conventional quasi-3D models. An eigenvalue equation is formulated for the analytical solution using a generalized displacements' solution form for wave propagation. The effects of porosity, temperature, moisture concentration, core thickness, and the material exponent on the plates' dispersion relations are examined by considering the thickness stretching influence.
In this paper, bending-stretching analysis of thick functionally graded piezoelectric rectangular plates is studied using the higher-order shear and normal deformable plate theory. On the basis of this theory, Legendre polynomials are used for approximating the components of displacement field. Also, the effects of both normal and shear deformations are encountered in the theory. The governing equations are derived using the principle of virtual work and variational approach. It is assumed that plate is made of piezoelectric materials with functionally graded distribution of material properties. Hence, exponential function is used to modify mechanical and electrical properties through the thickness of the plate. Finally, the effect of material properties, electrical boundary conditions and dimensions are investigated on the static response of plate. Also, it is shown that results of the presented model are close to the three dimensional elasticity solutions.

Cellulose is a beneficial material that has low cost, lightweight, high compatibility and biodegradability. Recently electroactive paper (EAPap) on cellulose base was discovered as a smart material and actuator through ion migration and piezoelectric effect. Furthermore cellulose has a potentiality to apply the display material, because of its high reflectivity, flexibility and high transmittance. The various shapes and height patterns of the Cellulose acetate (CA) solution, such as circle and honeycomb patterns, were fabricated and observed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM, S4300 Hitachi). The resulting pattern showed uniform size in the large area without defect. After stretching the CA film with saponification process in the sodium methoxide in methanol solution, Most of the compositions become one directional ordered nanofibers below 50nm.

In this paper, a new first shear deformation plate theory based on neutral surface position is developed for the static and the free vibration analysis of functionally graded plates (FGPs). Moreover, the number of unknowns of this theory is the least one comparing with the traditional first-order and the other higher order shear deformation theories. The neutral surface position for a functionally graded plate which its material properties vary in the thickness direction is determined. The mechanical properties of the plate are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness direction by a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Based on the present shear deformation plate theory and the neutral surface concept, the governing equations are derived from the principle of Hamilton. There is no stretching-bending coupling effect in the neutral surface based formulation. Numerical illustrations concern flexural and dynamic behavior of FG plates with Metal-Ceramic composition. Parametric studies are performed for varying ceramic volume fraction, length to thickness ratios. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.
In this paper, a new displacement field based on quasi-3D hybrid-type higher order shear deformation theory is developed to analyze the static and dynamic response of exponential (E), power-law (P) and sigmoïd (S) functionally graded beams. Novelty of this theory is that involve just three unknowns with including stretching effect, as opposed to four or even greater numbers in other shear and normal deformation theories. It also accounts for a parabolic distribution of the transverse shear stresses across the thickness, and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions at beams surfaces without introducing a shear correction factor. The beam governing equations and boundary conditions are determined by employing the Hamilton's principle. Navier-type analytical solutions of bending and free vibration analysis are provided for simply supported beams subjected to uniform distribution loads. The effect of the sigmoid, exponent and power-law volume fraction, the thickness stretching and the material length scale parameter on the deflection, stresses and natural frequencies are discussed in tabular and graphical forms. The obtained results are compared with previously published results to verify the performance of this theory. It was clearly shown that this theory is not only accurate and efficient but almost comparable to other higher order shear deformation theories that contain more number of unknowns.
Polyetherimide (PEI) and poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) blend web was prepared by electrospinning technique. In order to improve low mechanical properties, post processes like hot-pressing and heat-stretching were employed, and a study on the effects of post processes on their mechanical properties was performed. To confirm the physical properties of the web, scanning electron microscopy and tensile measuring instrument were used. The mechanical strength of webs pressed in the ratios of 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/5 at $180^{\circ}C$ were improved four-to-five times compared to pristine webs. Also they showed an additional increase by 2~8MPa, by heat-stretching 30 to 40% at $220^{\circ}C$.
In this article, a free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) plates resting on elastic foundations is presented using a quasi-3D hybrid-type higher order shear deformation theory. Undetermined integral terms are employed in the proposed displacement field and modeled based on a hybrid-type (sinusoidal and parabolic) quasi-3D HSDT with five unknowns in which the stretching effect is taken into account. Thus, it can be said that the significant feature of this theory is that it deals with only 5 unknowns as the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The elastic foundation parameters are introduced in the present formulation by following the Pasternak (two-parameter) mathematical model. Equations of motion are obtained via the Hamilton's principles and solved using Navier's method. Accuracy of the proposed theory is confirmed by comparing the results of numerical examples with the ones available in literature.

In this paper, tensile test was performed on pure titanium sheet (CP Ti sheet) with HCP structure in each direction to evaluate mechanical and surface properties and analyze microstructural changes during plastic deformation. We also evaluated forming limits of Ti direction in dome-type punch stretching test using a non-contact three-dimensional optical measurement system. As a result, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet has strong anisotropic property in yield stress, stress-strain curve and anisotropy coefficient according to direction. It was revealed that twinning occurred when the pure titanium sheet was plastic deformed, and tendency depends differently on direction and deformation mode. Moreover, this seems to affect the physical properties and deformation of the material. In addition, it was revealed the pure titanium sheet had different surface roughness changes in 0 degree direction and 90 degree direction due to large difference of anisotropy, and this affects the forming limit. It was revealed the forming limit of each direction obtained through the punch stretching test gave higher value in 90 degree direction compared with forming limit in 0 degree direction.
Simulation of deformation and fracture is one of the most important physics-based techniques in film production and real-time applications such as computer games. This paper proposes a practical approach to real-time deformation and fracturing. We adopt solid simulation with oriented particles [1] to simulate large deformation robustly, and develop a fracturing scheme to accommodate material failure when excessively stretched or compressed. The proposed method decomposes linear deformation into optimal rotation and pure stretching precisely in shape matching with oriented particles so that fracturing criteria can be easily formulated in terms of stretching. Experimental results show that the proposed method runs in real-time even for large meshes and it can simulate large deformation and fracturing.

The piezoelectric composite film of ferroelectric PZT ceramic ($PbZr_xTi_{1-x}O_3$) and polymer (PDMS, Polydimethylsiloxane) was prepared to improve the flexibility of piezoelectric material. The bar coating method was applied to fabricate flexible nanocomposite film with large surface area by low cost process. In the case of using metal electrode on the composite film, although there is no problem by bending process, the electrode is usually broken away from the film by stretching process. However, the well-attached, flexible CNT electrode on PZT/PDMS film improved flexibility, especially stretchability. PZT particles was usually settled down into polymer matrix due to gravity of the weighty particle, so to improve the dispersion of PZT powder in polymer matrix, small amount of additives (CNT powder, Carbon nanotube powder) was physically mixed with the matrix. By stretching the film, an output voltage of PZT(70 wt%)/PDMS with CNT (0.5 wt%) was measured.
