A Performance Comparison of CR-MMA and CM-MMA Equalization Algorithm in 2-dimensional QAM System (2차원 QAM 시스템에서 CR-MMA 와 CM-MMA 등화 알고리즘의 성능 비교)

  • This paper compares the adaptive eualization performance of CR-MMA (Constellation Reduction-MMA) and CR-MMA (Constellation Matching-MMA) in order to minimization of intersymbol interference that is occur in channel for 2-dimensional QAM signal. For obtain the error signal in order to updating the tap coefficient of conventional adaptive equalization algorithm MMA, the CR-MMA converts the constellation reduction concept of high order 2-dimensional QAM nonconstant modulus signal to constant modulus signal and the CM-MMA use the constellation matchine error concept in order to force the matching the $2^{nd}$ and $4^{th}$ cumulant of equalizer output and transmitted signal constellation. By applying the different method for getting the error signal, these algorithm are possible to obtain the improved equalization performance compared to the conventional MMA algorithm, the improved performance of CR-MMA and CM-MMA were compared by computer simulation in this paper. As a result of simulation, the CM-MMA has more better performance in the equalizer internal performance than CR-MMA, but not in equalizer external performance as in SER.

  • Recently in the field of GIS(Geographic Information System), data integration from various sources has become an important topic in order to use spatial data effectively. In general, the integration of spatial data is accomplished by navigating corresponding space object and combining the information interacting with each object. But it is very difficult to navigate an object which has correspondence with one in another dataset. Many matching methods have been studied for navigating spatial object. The purpose of this paper is development of method for searching correspondent spatial object considering local position error which is remained even after coordinate transform ation when two different building data sets integrated. To achieve this goal, we performed coordinate transformation and overlapped two data sets and generated blocks which have similar position error. We matched building objects within each block using similarity and ICP algorithm. Finally, we tested this method in the aspect of applicability.

  • In this paper, we evaluate and analyze representative estimation methods for the sparse channel. In order to evaluate error performance of matching pursuit(MP) and minimum mean square error(MMSE) algorithm, lower bound of MMSE is determined by Cramer-Rao bound and compared with upper bound of MP. Based on analysis of those bounds, mean square error of MP which is effective in the estimation of sparse channel can be larger than that of MMSE according to the number of estimated tap and signal-to-noise ratio. Simulation results show that the performances of both algorithm are reversed on the sparse channel with Rayleigh fading according to signal-to-noise ratio.

Sparse Signal Recovery with Parallel Orthogonal Matching Pursuit for Multiple Measurement Vectors (병렬OMP 기법을 통한 복수 측정 벡터기반 성긴 신호의 복원)

  • In this paper, parallel orthogonal matching pursuit (POMP) is proposed to supplement the simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit (S-OMP) which has been widely used as a greedy algorithm for sparse signal recovery for multiple measurement vector (MMV) problem. The process of POMP is simple but effective: (1) multiple indexes maximally correlated with the observation vector are chosen at the first iteration, (2) the conventional S-OMP process is carried out in parallel for each selected index, (3) the index set which yields the minimum residual is selected for reconstructing the original sparse signal. Empirical simulations show that POMP for MMV outperforms than the conventional S-OMP both in terms of exact recovery ratio (ERR) and mean-squared error (MSE).

  • This paper is the study which is head tracker using pattern matching. Proposal algorithm obtains initial attitude of head tracker using pattern matching. Optical head tracker consists of infrared LEDs(features) which are attached helmet as pattern, stereo infrared cameras. Proposal algorithm analyzes patterns by error rate of feature distance and estimates feature characteristic number. Initial attitude of head tracker is obtained to compare map data and feature characteristic number.

  • A new method for recognizing and locating partially occluded or overlapped two-dimensional objects regardless of their size, translation, and rotation, is presented. Dominant points approximating occuluding contoures of objects are generated by finding local maxima of smoothed k-cosine function, and then used to guide the contour segment matching procedure. Primitives between the dominant points are produced by projecting the local contours onto the line between the dominant points. Robust classification of primitives. Which is crucial for reliable partial shape matching, is performed using adaptive resonance theory (ART2). The matched primitives having similar scale factors and rotation angles are detected in the hough space to identify the presence of the given model in the object scene. Finally the translation vector is estimated by minimizing the mean squred error of the matched contur segment pairs. This model-based matching algorithm may be used in diveerse factory automation applications since models can be added or changed simply by training ART2 adaptively without modifying the matching algorithm.

  • In this paper, we quantize the image data to simplify the systolic array architecture for block matching algorithm. As the number of bits for pixel data to be processed is reduced by quantization, one can simplify the hardware of systolic array. Especially, if the bit serial input is used, one can even more simplify the structure of processing element. First, we analize the effect of quantization to a block matching. then we show the structure of quantizer and processing element when bit serial input is used. The simulation results applied to standard images have shown that the proposed block matching method has less prediction error than the conventional high speed algorithm.

  • The model matching problem of asynchronous sequential machines is to design a corrective controller such that the stable-state behavior of the closed-loop system matches that of a prescribed model. In this paper, we address model matching when the external input set consists of controllable inputs and uncontrollable ones. Like in the frame of supervisory control of Discrete-Event Systems (DES), uncontrollable inputs cannot be disabled and must be transmitted to the plant without any change. We postulate necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a corrective controller that solves model matching despite the influence of uncontrollable events. Whenever a controller exists, the algorithm for its design is outlined. To illustrate the physical meaning of the proposed problem, the closed-loop system of an asynchronous machine with the proposed control scheme is implemented in VHDL code.

  • This paper proposes a matching algorithm using Voronoi diagram for rotation and translation invariant fingerprint identification. The proposed algorithm extracts geometrical structures that are derived from Voronoi diagram of a fingerprint image. Then two features, distances and angles are extracted from the geometrical structures and saved as indexing form for fingerprint matching. This matching algerian has a lower error rate than indexing based methods of old times.
