  • Spectrum sensing is an elementary function in cognitive radio designed to monitor the existence of a primary user (PU). To achieve a high rate of detection, most techniques rely on knowledge of prior spectrum patterns, with a trade-off between high computational complexity and long sensing time. On the other hand, blind techniques ignore pattern matching processes to reduce processing time, but their accuracy degrades greatly at low signal-to-noise ratios. To achieve both a high rate of detection and short sensing time, we propose fast spectrum sensing with coordinate system (FSC) - a novel technique that decomposes a spectrum with high complexity into a new coordinate system of salient features and that uses these features in its PU detection process. Not only is the space of a buffer that is used to store information about a PU reduced, but also the sensing process is fast. The performance of FSC is evaluated according to its accuracy and sensing time against six other well-known conventional techniques through a wireless microphone signal based on the IEEE 802.22 standard. FSC gives the best performance overall.

  • Background Craniosynostosis management using distraction osteogensis represent a challenge for surgeons due to the great variability of the skull deformity even within the same etiology. The ability to apply the simulation surgery for improving the preoperative planning for distraction osteogensis could improve the results.Planning and Simulation 14 patients presented with craniosynostosis had been subjected to simulation surgery prior to real surgery. 3D CT scans was obtained upon patient admission. Adjustment of all skull position to Frankfort horizontal plane was done. 3 different distraction osteogensis plans were done for each patient according to the skull morphology. For each plane, movement for each bone segment was done according to the pre-planned distraction vectors. Also the distances of distractions were pre-determined according to the cephalic index as well as brain volume. Intraoperatively, we choose the most appropriate plan for the patient by the surgeon. At the end of distraction, 3D CT scan was obtained, and was compared to the simulation plan. Also the distance and the direction of distraction was compared to that of the plan. Accordingly, the distance was almost matching that of the simulation surgery, however the vector of distraction was not matched. Conclusion Preoperative stimulation planning for craniosynostosis patient is very valuable tool in the surgical management of craniosynostosis patients.

  • In this study, the global proteome of the IPEC-J2 cell line was evaluated using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to a quadrupole Q Exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometer. Proteins were isolated from highly confluent IPEC-J2 cells in biological replicates and analyzed by label-free mass spectrometry prior to matching against a porcine genomic dataset. The results identified 1,517 proteins, accounting for 7.35% of all genes in the porcine genome. The highly abundant proteins detected, such as actin, annexin A2, and AHNAK nucleoprotein, are involved in structural integrity, signaling mechanisms, and cellular homeostasis. The high abundance of heat shock proteins indicated their significance in cellular defenses, barrier function, and gut homeostasis. Pathway analysis and annotation using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes database resulted in a putative protein network map of the regulation of immunological responses and structural integrity in the cell line. The comprehensive proteome analysis of IPEC-J2 cells provides fundamental insights into overall protein expression and pathway dynamics that might be useful in cell adhesion studies and immunological applications.

  • The extraction of 3D road network from high-resolution aerial images is still one of the current challenges in digital photogrammetry and computer vision. For many years, there are many researcher groups working for this task, but unt il now, there are no papers for doing this with TLS (Three linear scanner), which has been developed for the past several years, and has very high-resolution (about 3 cm in ground resolution). In this paper, we present a methodology of road extraction from high-resolution digital imagery taken over urban areas using this modern photogrammetry’s scanner (TLS). The key features of the approach are: (1) Because of high resolution of TLS image, our extraction method is especially designed for constructing 3D road map for next -generation digital navigation map; (2) for extracting road, we use the global context of the intensity variations associated with different features of road (i.e. zebra line and center line), prior to any local edge. So extraction can become comparatively easy, because we can use different special edge detector according different features. The results achieved with our approach show that it is possible and economic to extract 3D road data from Three Linear Scanner to construct next -generation digital navigation road map.

  • Source localization in three-dimensional (3-D) wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is becoming a major research focus. Due to the complicated air-ground environments in 3-D positioning, many of the traditional localization methods, such as received signal strength (RSS) may have relatively poor accuracy performance. Benefit from prior learning mechanisms, fingerprinting-based localization methods are less sensitive to complex conditions and can provide relatively accurate localization performance. However, fingerprinting-based methods require training data at each grid point for constructing the fingerprint database, the overhead of which is very high, particularly for 3-D localization. Also, some of measured data may be unavailable due to the interference of a complicated environment. In this paper, we propose an efficient kernel based 3-D localization algorithm via tensor completion. We first exploit the spatial correlation of the RSS data and demonstrate the low rank property of the RSS data matrix. Based on this, a new training scheme is proposed that uses tensor completion to recover the missing data of the fingerprint database. Finally, we propose a kernel based learning technique in the matching phase to improve the sensitivity and accuracy in the final source position estimation. Simulation results show that our new method can effectively eliminate the impairment caused by incomplete sensing data to improve the localization performance.

  • Based on the prior research which developed the consistency review checklist of the BIM model and 2D drawing through the drawing analysis of the construction documents phase, the apparent limits of the existing template and the template development items were derived. As well, the BIM-based drawing templates of the construction documentation phase were developed and verified using ArchiCAD BIM software. The developed template was then applied to the actual project model in the construction documents phase, and, as a result, 50% of existing work elements could be utilized as templates. This is an increase of more than 30% over the existing template utilization elements, and it is analyzed to be effective in practical application and utilization. Based on the results of this study, if the BIM model construction criteria matching the drawing's utilization purpose are presented, while at the same time the BIM data interlocking and drawing template development studies are conducted, the utilization of BIM data can be maximized and additional drawing work can be minimized to increase the percentage of template utilization elements. In addition, it is believed that this can employed to address functional and institutional problems of BIM-based drawing and make a contribution to the activation of BIM.

  • Based on the information framework and regulatory focus theory, this paper verifies the impact on the advertising effect when the matching effect forms between the video advertising content type (Information Type, Entertainment Type) and the information framework (Promotional, Prevention) and the regulatory focus (Promotion Orientation, Prevention Orientation) in social media. In order to verify, after selecting of the experimental subjects and finishing the prior investigation of the experimental operation, four video advertisements and formal experiments were performed. The experimental results showed that first, the content type affects the advertising effect of the video and the information framework; when the information video matches the preventive information framework, it will have a more obvious positive effect on the advertising effect; when the entertainment video matches the promotion information framework, it will have a more obvious positive effect on the advertising effect. Second, with the two matches of video content type and information framework, the entertainment-oriented video has a more obvious positive effect for the information-oriented video audience; the above results enrich user created content research and improve the quality and communication efficiency of video in social media.

  • In this study, we have developed and evaluated an information extracting module based on the named entity recognition technique. For the given purpose in this paper, the module was designed to apply to the problem dealing with extraction of postal address information from arbitrary documents without any prior knowledge on the document layout. From the perspective of information technique practice, our approach can be said as a probabilistic n-gram (bi- or tri-gram) method which is a generalized technique compared with a uni-gram based keyword matching. It is the main difference between our approach and the conventional methods adopted in natural language processing that applying sentence detection, tokenization, and POS tagging recursively rather than applying the models sequentially. The test results with approximately two thousands documents are presented at this paper.

  • Purpose: To monitor the changes of location of prostate gland using DIPS and to examine the adjustment and proton beam therapy depending on the movement of prostate gland in proton beam therapy for prostate gland in which a fiducial gold marker was inserted. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in ten patients with prostate cancer who received proton beam therapy since April of 2008. To monitor the change of prostate location, three fiducial gold markers were inserted prior to the treatment. To minimize the movement of prostate gland, patients were recommended to urinate prior to the treatment, to intake a certain amount of water and to concomitantly undergo rectal balloon. In these patients, the set-up position was identical to that for a CT-simulation. The PA (posterior-anterior) and lateral images were obtained using both DIPS (digital image positioning system) and a plain radiography, and they were compared between the two imaging modalities. Thus, the changes of the location of fiducial gold marker were assessed based on three coordinates (x, y, z) and then adjusted. This was followed by proton beam therapy. Results: Images which were taken using a plain radiography were compared with those which were taken using DIPS. In ten patients, according to a reference bony marker, the mean changes of the location of fiducial gold marker based on an iso-center were X-axis: $\pm$0.116 cm, Y-axis: $\pm$0.19 cm and Z-axis: $\pm$0.176 cm. These ten patients showed a difference in the changes of location of prostate gland and it ranged between RT: 0.04 cm and RT: 0.24 cm on the X-axis; between Inf: 0.03 cm and Sup: 0.42 cm on the Y-axis; and Post: 0.05 cm and Ant: 0.35 cm on the Z-axis. Conclusion: To minimize the movement of prostate gland, as the pre-treatment prior to the treatment. In all the patients, however, three fiducial gold markers showed a daily variation which were inserted in the prostate gland. Based on the above data, Thus, the requirement of gold marker matching system depending on the daily variation in the proton beam therapy for which more accurate establishment of target was confirmed. It is assumed that an accurate effect of proton beam therapy would be enhanced by adjusting the target-center depending on the location change of prostate gland using DIPS which was used in the current study.

  • Shape features in a content-based image retrieval (CBIR) system are divided into two classes: contour-based and region-based. Contour-based shape features are simple but they are not as efficient as region-based shape features. Most systems using the region-based shape feature have to extract the region firs t. The prior works on region-based systems still have shortcomings. They are complex to implement, particularly with respect to region extraction, and do not sufficiently use the spatial relationship between regions in the distance model In this paper, a region extraction method that is the combination of an edge-based method and a region growing method is proposed to accurately extract regions inside an object. Edges inside an object are accurately detected based on the Canny edge detector and the Hough transform. And the modified Integrated Region Matching (IRM) scheme which includes the adjacency relationship of regions is also proposed. It is used to compute the distance between images for the similarity search using shape features. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our region extraction method as well as the modified IRM. In comparison with other works, it is shown that the new region extraction method outperforms others.
