  • The interaction of incident manochromatic waves with an array of N surface-piercing porous dual cylindrical structures is investigated in the frame of three-dimensional linear potential theory. The dual cylindrical structure is camposed of concentric two cylinders. The exterior cylinder is porous and the interior cylinder is impermeable. The fluid domain is divided into N+1 regions i.e. a single exterior region and N interior regions. The diffraction potentials in each region representing the scattering of incident waves by an array of porous cylindrical structures are expressed by the Fourier Bessel series. The unknown coefficients in each region are determined by applying the porous boundary condition and continuity of mass flux at the matching boundary. It is found that an array of porous cylindrical structures reduces both the wave forces and the wave run-up, and shows the excellent performance of wave blocking. The results show that various types of breakwater exchanging seawater are prospective by controlling the porosity and the configuration of cylindrical structures.

  • Additives for low temperature sintering of mullite ceramics were investigated for matching Mo-Cu conducting paste with that ceramics at 1,400$^{\circ}C$. $SiO_2$, MgO and $Y_2O_3$ were chosen as the additives for low temperature sintering, and the amounts of those additives were varied with sintering temperature of 1,400$^{\circ}C$ to 1,500$^{\circ}C$. With additives of 1.0 wt% of $SiO_2$, 1.0 wt% of MgO, and 1.5 wt% of $Y_2O_3$, the densest sintered body of 3.12 g/$cm^3$ was obtained at 1,400$^{\circ}C$ in reducing atmosphere. The flexural strength of that was 325 MPa and the CTE (Coefficient of thermal expansion) was 4.33 ppm/$^{\circ}C$.

  • This paper presents a methodology for recovering the industrial radiographic images from the effects of nonlinear distortion. Analytical approach based on the inverse square law and Beer's law is developed in order to improve a mathematic model of nonlinear type. The geometric effect due to dimensions of the radioactive source appeals on the digitized images. The relation that expresses parameters values(angle, position, absorption coefficient, length, width and pixel account) is defined in this model, matching with the sample image. To perform the search for image recovery most similar to the model, a correction procedure is designed. The application of this method on the radiographic images of steel tubes is shown and recovered results are discussed.

  • A bar-code shape UHF RFID tag antenna is designed and fabricated with silver conductive ink. It can be recognize by both bar-code scanner and RFID reader. The bar-code shape is taken from a general box of a product, and the product code of the bar-code is used for the antenna design. The tag antenna is fabricated with silver conductive ink using a T-matching structure. The designed tag antenna is satisfied with bar-code system and RFID system simultaneously. The input reflection coefficient characteristics and the reading range pattern are measured. The peak reading range is about 111 cm, which is long enough.

  • The study seeks to understand the effects of boredom proneness on impulse purchasing and smartphone addiction of young consumers. Moreover, the possible mediating role of smartphone addiction is tested for the effect of boredom proneness on impulse purchasing. Nowadays, the effect of emotions on human behavior is generally accepted, and boredom is one of the important and common problematic feelings or moods at various levels of life due to factors like unemployment, not being able to work in a suitable job, not getting appropriate education matching individual abilities, monotony of tasks, and feeling life is meaningless. Investigating the effect of boredom on specific consumer behavior would increase our knowledge about consumer behavior. For the research, a survey was conducted 313 students from Kirikkale University, Keskin Vocational High School; the data were collected by convenience sampling method. The data were processed through statistical tools like exploratory factor analysis, coefficient alphas, and regression analysis. The results of the study reveal that boredom proneness affects impulse purchasing and smartphone addiction. In addition, it is understood that smartphone addiction plays a mediating role in the effect of boredom proneness on impulse purchasing. These results indicate that boredom can be an important factor affecting certain negative consumer behaviors.

  • Purpose: Dual cylindrical microwave chambers equipped with an ohmic heating tube were designed and fabricated to maximize the electric field strength for expeditious heat treatment of particulate foods. Methods: The efficacy of the combination heater was investigated by simulating the electric field distribution by using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Results: All components of the designed microwave heating unit were suitable for transmitting maximal microwave power to the load. The simulated electric field distribution implied that single-mode microwave heating would be sufficient for the steady generation of a highly localized heating zone in the cavity. During impedance matching, the calculated reflection coefficient ($S_{11}$) was small, possibly implying minimal power loss and wave reflection in the designed microwave heating chamber. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the possibility of concentrating the microwave power at the centerline for a single-frequency microwave, for thermal treatment of multiphase foods without attenuating the microwave power.

  • An UHF RFID tag is designed and fabricated using the national code in a bar-code with conductive ink. The bar-code sample was taken from a general bar-code from a general box. The conductivity of the conductive ink was measured, and the measured conductivity was used for the simulation tool to design the printed bar-code shape tag antenna. The tag antenna was fabricated using T-matching to reduce the size of the tag, and the bar-code tag antenna is recognized by both a general bar-code reader and an UHF RFID reader. The input reflection coefficient characteristic, the reading range pattern and the reading rate of the tag antenna are measured.

  • In this paper, the accurate characterization of the input impedance of a rectangular waveguide with a conducting post and the other discontinuity is presented using mode matching method and the equivalent transmission line theory. By the proposed method, the input impedance of rectangular waveguide with a conducting post and the other discontinuity as a function of the radius and height of the post, the reflection coefficient of the other discontinuity, and the distance between the post and the other discontinuity is calculated. The simulated result shows good agreement with the experimental result by Marcuvitz.

  • In queueing network analysis, arrival processes are usually modeled as renewal processes by matching mean and variance. The renewal approximation simplifies the analysis and provides reasonably good estimate for the performance measures of the queueing systems under moderate conditions. However, high variability in arrival process or in service process requires more sophisticated approximation procedures for the variability parameter of departure/arrival processes. In this paper, we propose an heuristic approach to refine Whitt's variability function with the k-interval squared coefficient of variation also known as the index of dispersion for intervals(IDI). Regression analysis is used to establish an empirical relationships between the IDI of arrival process and the IDI of departure process of a queueing system.

  • There are many intermediate web guides in cold rolling mills process such as CRM (cold rolling mill), CGL (continuous galvanizing line), EGL (electrical galvanizing line) and so on. The main functions of the web guides are to adjust the center line of the web (strip) to the center line of the steel process. So they are called CPC (center position control). Rapid process speed cause large deviation between the center position of the strip and the process line. Too much deviation is not desirable. So the difference between the center position of the strip and the process line should be compensated. In general, the center position control of the web is obtained by the hydraulic driver and electrical controller. In this paper, we propose modelling and several controller designs for web-guide systems. We model the web and guide by using geometrical relations of the guide ignored the mass and stiffness of the web. To control the systems, we propose PID controllers with their gains tuned by the Ziegler-Nichols method, the H$\_$$\infty$/ controller model-matching method, and the coefficient diagram method (CDM). CDM is modified for high order systems. The results are verified by computer simulations.
