  • PURPOSES : The purpose of this study is to check the possibilities of traffic pattern analysis using MatSIM for urban road network operation in incident case. METHODS : One of the stochastic dynamic models is MatSIM. MatSIM is a transportation simulation tool based on stochastic dynamic model and activity based model. It is an open source software developed by IVT, ETH zurich, Switzerland. In MatSIM, various scenario comparison analyses are possible and analyses results are expressed using the visualizer which shows individual vehicle movements and traffic patterns. In this study, trip distribution in 24-hour, traffic volume, and travel speed using MatSIM are similar to those of measured values. Therefore, results of MatSIM are reasonable comparing with measured values. Traffic patterns are changed according to incident from change of individual behavior. RESULTS : The simulation results and the actual measured values are similar. The simulation results show reasonable ranges which can be used for traffic pattern analysis. CONCLUSIONS : The change of traffic pattern including trip distribution, traffic volumes and speeds according to various incident scenarios can be used for traffic control policy decision to provide effective operation of urban road network.

  • Replacing Pb-free glass composition for the dielectric materials is expected in PDP industry. In this study, phosphate glasses, $P_2O_5$- ZnO- SnO (PZS), $P_2O_5$-ZnO-BaO (PZB) were selected for a new transparent dielectric. Thermal properties (Tg, CTE) were measured with differential thermal analyzer and thermal mechanical analyzer. The glass transition of the glasses was ranged at $365{\sim}405^{\circ}C$ for the PZS system and $5.9{\sim}9.5{\times}\;10^{-6}$ of thermal expansion were found. The PZB system showed $445{\sim}470^{\circ}C$ of glass transition. Thus, the glass compositions would be a potential candidate for a transparent dielectric layer in plasma display panel.

  • In this study, we investigated the effect of the number of passes through agrinder on the pore characteristics of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) mat. The beaten pulp suspension was used to make NFC suspension using a grinder. To evaluate the pore characteristics of a NFC mat, the surface morphology of the dried NFC mat was observed with FE-SEM and the specific surface area was analyzed with BET nitrogen gas adsorption. The structure of NFC mat was changed with the different number of passes and drying methods. The specific surface area of NFC mat increased with the increase in the number of passes. The 20-passed NFC mat had 20 times larger specific surface area ($141m^2/g$) compared to the 0-passed NFC mat. The specific surface area was strongly correlated with the average pore size in NFC mat. The average pore diameter in NFC mat was calculated from the gas sorption isotherms using BJH model. The value was 13 - 15 nm, indicating that the NFC mat had mesoporous structure.

  • The mushroom species Cordyceps militaris has been studied and cultivated as a medicinal mushroom due to its multiple valuable biological and pharmaceutical activities. For breeding new strains of C. militaris, multiplex PCR assays were performed using primers specific for its mating type genes, MAT1-1 and MAT1-2. Mating types and mating status were confirmed, as evidenced by DNA bands at 233-bp and 191-bp for MAT1-1 and MAT1-2 respectively. The novel 'Dowonhongcho 2ho' was developed through mating; they were found to possess high-quality fruiting bodies when grown in artificial media. The stromata of the new strain were club-shaped, with a bright orange-red color, and measured 7.1 cm in length. They had an average cordycepin content of 0.33%. Compared to 'Dowonhongcho,' the new strain had a 7% higher yield, as well as firm fruiting bodies. The optimum temperature for mycelial growth was $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$, and the optimum temperature for stroma development was $18{\sim}22^{\circ}C$. The fruiting bodies developed after 49.1 days from inoculation. The use of mating type molecular markers improved the breeding efficiency of the new strain 'Dowonhongcho 2ho.' Thus, they may be valuable for artificial cultivation and industrial-scale production of C. militaris with excellent characteristics.

  • Load tests for ten small-scale foundation models combined with geotextile and sand mat were conducted to study the effect of geotextile, sand mat, and foundation types on deformation of foundation soils. In addition, the experimental results were compared with those obtained from numerical analysis using a software program. The main conclusions were summarized as follows : 1. The restraint effect on GIT is more outstanding on the lateral displacement than on the vertical one. 2. The only use of SIM has better effect for the restraint of lateral displacement than vertical ogle. 3. The use of both SIM and GIT are required for the restraint of lateral and vertical displacement.

  • This thesis was investigated on optical-and ion-induced characteristics in positive(a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$) and negative (Ag/a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$) resists for focused-ion-beam microlithogaphy. The a-$Se_{75}Ge_{25}$ inorganic thin film shows an increase in optical absorption after exposure to$\sim$$10^{16}$ dose(ions/$cm^{2}$) of Ga ions. The observed shift in the absorption edge toward longer wavelengths is consistent with that in films exposed to band-gap photons ($\sim$$10^{20}$ photons/$cm^{2}$). But, ion induced shift is twice as much as that in film exposed to optical radiation. This result may be related with microstructural rearrangements with in the short range of SeGe network. Due to changes in the short range order, the chemical bonding may be affected, which results in increased chemical dissolution in ion-induced film. Also, this resist exhibits good thermal stability because of its high Tg(~220$^{\circ}C$). The composition of deposited film measured by AES is consistent with that of bulk.

  • Excessive earth pressure is one of the major mechanical factors in the deformation and damage of Cut-and-Cover Tunnel lining in shallow tunnels and portals of mountain tunnels (Kim, 2000). Excessive earth pressure may be attributed to insufficient compaction and consolidation of backfill material due to self-weight, precipitation and vibration caused by traffic (Komiya et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 1984; Yoo, 1997). Even though there were a lot of tests performed to determine the earth pressure acting on the tunnel lining, unfortunately there were almost no case histories of studies performed to determine remedial measures that reduce differential settlement and excessive earth pressure. In this study the installation of geotextile mat was selected to reduce the differential settlement and excessive earth pressure acting on the cut-and-cover tunnel lining. In order to determine settlement and earth pressure reduction effect (reinforcement effect) of geotextile mat reinforcement, laboratory tunnel model tests were performed. This study was limited to the modeling of rigid circular cut-and-cover tunnel constructed at a depth of $1.0D\sim1.5D$ in loose sandy ground and subjected to a vibration frequency of 100 Hz. Model tests with varying soil cover, mat reinforcement scheme and slope roughness were performed to determine the most effective mat reinforcement scheme. Slope roughness was adjusted by attaching sandpaper #100, #400 and acetate on the cut slope surface. Mat reinforcement effect of each mat reinforcement scheme were presented by the comparison of earth pressure obtained from the unreinforced and mat reinforced model tests. Soil settlement reduction was analyzed and presented using the Picture Analysis Method (Park, 2003).

  • Background: Pilates exercises are used for body shape correction because they can achieve correct posture alignment through spinal stabilization. Objects: This study aimed to determine whether the use of reformers increases the effectiveness of Pilates core exercises on body alignment in standing. Methods: The study included 30 women without known diagnoses of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders or cancer. Those who had taken more than 10 Pilates lessons were excluded. The participants were randomly assigned to either the reformer exercise group or the mat exercise group, and interventional Pilates exercises were performed for 60 minutes a day, three times a week, for a total of 8 weeks. Ten movements of the reformer and mat Pilates core exercise programs were included. Exbody® 9100 MOMI musculoskeletal analysis equipment (Exbody Inc.) was used to assess the alignment of the standing posture in the frontal plane. Results: As a result of comparing the differences within and between the groups before and after the intervention using the two-way mixed analysis of variance test, height differences in the head, pelvis, left and right, shoulders, scapulas, knees, and ankles in the frontal plane after the intervention were found in both groups. For example, the left-right symmetry of the body alignment in the standing posture was significantly improved within each group (p < 0.05). However, no significant difference was found between the groups (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Both the reformer and mat Pilates core exercises were effective for standing posture alignment, which has clinical significance. If an exercise program is developed based on the analysis of movements necessary for posture improvement and the target muscles to be strengthened, the same effect can be achieved only with mat exercise without using the reformer equipment at the beginner stage.

  • The characteristics of Packsulgi were investigated with different cooking methods of conventional and pressure cookers and variation in panicle size of rice flour. The water contents of rice f1ours and Packsulgis were greater as the particle became coarser. The water contents of Packsulgis cooked with pressure cooker (P) were greater than those of conventional cooker (C). Degree of gelatinization in P was higher than that of C. There were no significant differences among the samples of P, whereas coarser f1ours tended to show higher degree of gelatinization than finer ones in C. The results of textural properties measured by rheometer showed that hardness, cohesiveness and gumminess of P was higher than that of C. The textural parameter of P increased as the particle became finer, whereas mat of C increased as the particle became coarser. L value of C was higher than that of P in me same particle size, whereas a and b value of P was higher than that of C. L and a value of both P and C increased as the particle became finer. b value in P increased as the particle became coarser, whereas mat in C increased as the particle became finer. According to me sensory evaluation, the appearance of C was more acceptable man that of P, whereas the texture of P was more acceptable than mat of C. There were no significant differences in overall quality among P and c and Packsulgis made by 60, 100 mesh rice f1our had higher acceptability than others.

  • In this paper, we measure the tympanic temperature and axillary temperature after far-infrared radiation. The subjects consist of 20 peoples($20s{\sim}60s$) regardless of age or sex. First of all, the subjects lied in mat without the hyperthermia induced by FIR(Far-infrared radiation) for 5 minutes(relaxation) and then lied in mat with the hyperthermia induced by FIR($40{\sim}65^{\circ}C$) for 30 minutes. At this all process, the tympanic temperature and axillary temperature were measured at every 5 minutes. Before FIR was radiating on the human body, the tympanic temperature were $1.05^{\circ}C$ higher than axillary temperature. But after FIR, axillary temperature were $0.217^{\circ}C$ higher than tympanic temperature and the difference of two parameters was decreased.
