  • In master-slave teleoperating system, it is important that the system has good maneuverability. In this paper, it is addressed an adaptive learning control method applicable to the master-slave system. This control scheme has the ability to estimate uncertain dynamic parameters included intrinsically in the system and to achieve the desired performance without the nasty matrix operation. The proposed method is applied to a master-slave teleoperating system composed of two SCARA robots and verified experimentally.

  • The purpose of this study was to find correlation between the Berg Balance Scale which is most commonly used and the equilibrium scores from Smart Balance Master System which is used for the test of the balance ability for the patients with chronic hemiparetic stroke to predict their falling risk though examining the postural control. Twenty-two subjects who had first stroke participated in this study. Participants were measured the Berg Balance Scale and the Smart Balance Master System. The study found that there was a significant correlation between the Berg Balance Scale and the equilibrium scores from Smart Balance Master System. And there was no significant correlation at all "eye-closed and sway of surfaces" in the 6 conditions of Smart Balance Master System and there was a significant correlation with over median in the other 5 conditions. The study was uncovered that there was no meaningful correlation between the Berg Balance Scale and "eye-closed and sway of surfaces" because chronic hemiparetic stroke patients heavily relied on their vision to maintain their balance ability and the Berg Balance Scale did not properly exam it. Thus to predict their falling risk in clinical practice for the patients with chronic hemiparetic stroke, it would be more efficient ways for us to consider all the effects of sensory organs with more than one clinical evaluation method.

  • In order to establish a micropropagation system of Naricissus, the ability of bulblet regeneration among propagation materials was compared, and the adequate growth regulators and concentrations for each cultivar were investigated. The inorganic components were also assayed in the parts of propagation materials. In propagation materials, scape with based plates showed hightest rate of bulblet formation and rapid growth of formed bulblets in vitro, comparing to other parts of it. In comparing of varieties, 'Dutch Master' and 'Golden Harvest' showed a high ability for bulblet regeneration. The ability of bulblet regeneration was most favorable in the medium, supplemented with 5.0 mg/L BA and 2.5 mg/L NAA in 'Dutch Master', and 5.0 mg/L BA and 1.0mg/L NAA in 'Golden Harvest', respectively. In inorganic component analysis of propagation materials, the White part of scape contained 1.18 mg/L$P_2O_5$, 2.57 me Ca, 0.94 me Mg and 3.20 mg/L total N. It showed higher levels in concentration of inorganic components as compared to those of the other part of scape. In addition, leaves and yellow part of scape contained significantly high levels of Ca and Mg while scales bulb showed considerably low levels in all inorganic compounds.

  • This study is aimed to compare the effect of visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance training and conventional sitting balance training using Balance Master on stroke patients with that of program in order to analyze the effect it has on dynamic postural balance. The subjects are twenty-four stroke patients who are receiving physical therapy in Ilsan Paik Hospital and can maintain sitting posture by themselves. These patients were divided to control group and experimental group randomly. In order to compare to control and experimental group before and after the balance training, they were tested with Mann-Whitney U test and in order to compared the changes before and after the balance training, they were tested with Wilcoxon signed-ranks test. The results are as follows: we measured the ability of dynamic posture balance control with limit of stability(LOS) test and rhythmic weight shift test. There was an increasing improvement in the ability of dynamic posture balance control of the experimental group that had visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance control training using the Balance Master(p<0.05, p<0.01). According to the results from above, compared to conventional sitting balance training programs, visuo-perceptual biofeedback sitting balance control training using the Balance Master is considered to be a more valuable therapy in balance control improvement and physical function improvement. It is considered that if the weak points are made up, the training with Balance Master will give help to stroke patients and to patients with balance control disabilities and will further more contribute to successful rehabilitation therapy.

  • This paper presents master key identifier based protocol steganography (MKIPS), a new approach toward creating a covert channel within the Secure Real-time Transfer Protocol, also known as SRTP. This can be achieved using the ability of the sender of Voice-over-Internet Protocol packets to select a master key from a pre-shared list of available cryptographic keys. This list is handed to the SRTP sender and receiver by an external key management protocol during session initiation. In this work, by intelligent utilization of the master key identifier field in the SRTP packet creation process, a covert channel is created. The proposed covert channel can reach a relatively high transfer rate, and its capacity may vary based on the underlying SRTP channel properties. In comparison to existing data embedding methods in SRTP, MKIPS can convey a secret message without adding to the traffic overhead of the channel and packet loss in the destination. Additionally, the proposed covert channel is as robust as its underlying user datagram protocol channel.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine whether Temporomandibular Joint Balance Appliance-Golf (TBA-G) can improve postural control ability of healthy adults. Methods: Twenty participants (10 male, 10 female) aged 20 to 39 years were involved. Postural control ability of all participants was assessed before and after applying TBA-G with Balance $Master^{(R)}$ system. Modified clinical test sensory interaction on balance (mCTSIB), unilateral stance, weight bearing and rhythmic weight shift were used to evaluate postural control ability. Results: After applying TBA-G, mCTSIB on a firm plate with eyes open increased from 0.2 to 0.23 (p<0.05) but directional control was improved in slow and moderate velocity of front/back rhythmic weight shift test (P<0.05). In two cases with postural imbalance, most of the postural control measures improved after applying TBA-G. Conclusions: The results suggest that TBA-G could improve balance control ability. A larger controlled trial is needed to determine more accurately the effect of TBA-G on balance control ability.
