  • The purpose of this study is to identify the major determinants of performance of the R&D alliances, with an aim toward raising the success rate in cooperative relationships. In particular, this study assesses whether the success factors of purchasing relationship identified in the literature apply equally to SMEs in Korea. The results of this study indicate that inter-firm cooperation, experienced cooperation, and efficiency of government support have positive impacts on the purchase rate of new products. On the other hand, R&D intensity and resources of competencies of the firm do not influence it. Additionally, market attractiveness does not moderate the effects of the five independent variables on the purchase. The extracted determinants according to the results of surveys give valuable and practical hints to the SMEs when they make a decision on their R&D alliances with large enterprises.

  • This study deals sith some problems of foreign direct investment and seeks for the ways of activating foreign direct investment (hereafter F.D.I.) by analyzing the Korean economic structure that is faced with the neo-protectivism and nationalism of the advanced or foreign countries currently. During a transformational process in the transitional period of world trade environment, it is necessary for Korea not only to learn the higher technology for advanced countries, but also to apply techonology to their economic structure in order to enter into competition with the advanced countries. Based on the experiences and accomplishments from their investments, Korean enterprises should turn their business into F.D.I. and act appropriately in order to keep the balance between indoor and outdoor investment. • The terms electronic trade, electronic trading and electronic commerce are often used interchangeably, and refer to trading transactions conducted using electronic media. Electronic trade is business-to-business transactions in an industrial context, while electronic commerce refers to retailing and the consumer sector as well as mass marketing. The Electronic trade process is defined as a flow of information (documents) exchanged between enterprises and trade-related firms (shipping companies, foreign exchange banks, forwarders, etc.) in the course of implementing a series of export and import procedures. Electronic trading systems exploit information technology to improve the efficiency of communications and/or to alter the nature of inter-organizational transactions. Many studies exist about the adoption of inter-organizational systems (IOS) and electronic data interchange (EDI), but few focus on electronic trade. The literature on exporting companies's electronic trade adoption and implementation, although extensive, consists mainly of exploratory studies focusing on technological characteristics such as barriers, benefits and usage. The purpose of this study is to broaden this perspective by investigating the environmental, organizational and technological drivers of business-to-business e-commerce adoption.

  • Pig industry has been one of the most important sector in Taiwan since 1970s, and produce one fourth of the agricultural income. The industry has made great improvements in breeding, raising and quality production while marketing and processing have interrelated efficiently with production. As one of the mayor factor to the present success, cooperative research and extension has been institutionalized among the government agencies, farmer`s associations and research institutions, inter-linked with the farmer`s problem-solving process. At present, the industry is seeking an appropriate strategy and measures to upgrade the pollution control and cost efficiency in production. This paper reviewed an industry case historically in Taiwan in order to draw the implications to the emerging farm sector in which international competitiveness and quality improvement are to be considered.

  • In this study, we intend to identify key financial variables that can accurately classify Green IT leaders against Green IT followers. In particular, we build and compare single and meta-classifiers to identify the relationship between environmental performance and financial performance, while focusing on selecting and interpreting a final prediction model with a smaller set of financial performance indicators. Our experimental results demonstrate that several key variables representing the size, financial resources, operational efficiency, and risk-taking tendency of an organization can successfully identify Green IT leaders with approximately 90% of accuracy. In addition, we find that Green IT leaders show a higher utilization rate of Web pages as a green marketing channel than Green IT followers while they share common layouts of Web publication to build green IT brands with some differences.

  • In this paper, an accelerated generation algorithm to effectively generate an elemental image array in computational integral imaging system is proposed. In the proposed method, the depth information of 3D object is extracted from the images picked up by a stereo camera or depth camera. Then, the elemental image array can be generated by using the proposed accelerated generation algorithm with the depth information of 3D object. The resultant 3D image generated by the proposed accelerated generation algorithm was compared with that the conventional direct algorithm for verifying the efficiency of the proposed method. From the experimental results, the accuracy of elemental image generated by the proposed method could be confirmed.

  • The aim of this study is to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) based business models of media firms. We define AI and discuss 'AI activity model'. The practices of the efficiency model are home equipment-based personalization and media content recommendation. The practices of the expert model are media content commissioning, content rights negotiation, copyright infringement, and promotion. The practices of the effectiveness model are photo & video auto-tagging and auto subtitling & simultaneous translation. The practices of the innovation model are content script creation and metadata management. The related use cases from 2012 to 2017 are introduced along the four activity models of AI. In conclusion, we propose for media companies to fully utilize the AI for transforming from traditional to successful digital media firms.

  • Telemarketing has been used in finance due to the reduction of offline channels. In order to select telemarketing target customers, various machine learning techniques have emerged to maximize the effect of minimum cost. However, there are problems that the class imbalance, which the number of marketing success customers is smaller than the number of failed customers, and the recall rate is lower than accuracy. In this paper, we propose a method that solve the imbalanced class problem and increase the recall rate to improve the efficiency. The hybrid sampling method is applied to balance the data in the class, and the stacked deep network is applied to improve the recall and precision as well as the accuracy. The proposed method is applied to actual bank telemarketing data. As a result of the comparison experiment, the accuracy, the recall, and the precision is improved higher than that of the conventional methods.
