A case study on the content types and characteristics of global fashion YouTubers (글로벌 패션 유튜버의 콘텐츠 유형과 특성에 관한 사례연구)

  • With YouTube's overwhelming share of the market, research on analyzing the types of content on YouTube is essential. An analysis of major global fashion YouTubers that the types of video content could be largely classified into three main categories: Fashion, beauty and daily life. The fashion category was subdivided into styling and fashion product review content type. The beauty category was subdivided into tutorials, beauty product reviews, and beauty tip content types. The daily life category was subdivided into daily sharing, consultation, and Q & A content types. Video content within fashion YouTuber channels is accompanied by expertise in fashion and beauty. At the same time, videos on daily life are uploaded, and through interactive communication with viewers, YouTubers form an intimate bond with subscribers. Content emphasizing entertainment, not just information delivery that introduces fashion products, is attracting growing interest among subscribers. This study analyzed the content of the increasingly popular fashion YouTuber channels and determined its important characteristics. The study makes a significant contribution to academic research by laying a foundation for future studies of YouTube content in the fashion field. Since differences in country of birth and race among YouTubers may influence content production, follow-up research will be conducted on the types and characteristics of domestic fashion YouTubers.

The Importance of Brand and Retailer Associations in Evaluating a Product Category Extension

  • This study investigates the importance of brand and retailer associations when consumers evaluate a product category extension in the context of brand and retailer collaborations. Although brand extensions are considered to reduce costs for introducing a new product category, limited study has focused on the role of brand and retailer associations in the context of brand and retailer collaborations. Using a total of 440 participants, a hypothesized model was tested using a structural equation modeling (SEM). The results show that brand and retailer associations influence the perceived fit between a brand and a retailer. In addition, the image fit and quality fit are significantly related to brand and retailer attitudes as well as brand extension evaluation. Since consumers may use their associations with brands or retailers when they perceive product differentiation, market position, and brand extensions, the role of brand or retailer associations is important to marketers, retailers, and consumers. Given the importance of brand and retailer collaborations as a brand positioning strategy in the global branding and retail setting, the findings of this study contribute to brand and retail management by providing empirical evidence on how consumers perceive new products from extended brands in the marketplace when a brand collaborates with a retailer.

  • As sustainability of fashion brands is becoming more important in the prolonged depression, the fashion market is also seeking ways to create new value through convergence with various fields. In the fashion market, convergence marketing is engaged with diverse technologies combined with advanced technologies and strategies. This study established the conceptual characteristics of convergence and divergence from a market perspective. Convergence can be summarized as Borderless, Compounding, Diversification, Recombination and Affiliation. The conceptual characteristics of the divergence can be summarized as de-fusion, individualization, differentiation, specialization, and segmentation. The characteristics of convergence revealed through the case of fashion market include the expandability of the new category, the expandability of the consumer, the brand experience, and the expandability of time and space. Divergence is the differentiation of brand value, target customer, and product nature. Through this study, we could understand the differentiation of the fashion market and the direction of the marketing strategy by looking at the characteristic of the convergence marketing - oriented research that has the contrary conceptual characteristics from the extended viewpoint. Based on this, it is possible to see the changes and patterns of brand marketing strategies and techniques in recent fashion market. In the future, it is expected that the systematic study of the marketing strategy of the domestic fashion brand based on the convergence and change characteristics of the fashion market proposed in this study will continue.

  • While the population conducting the production-oriented leisure activity is spread, the expertly franchised types of woodworking workshop based on good organization and economic power are also undergoing rapid growth with the related industries. Such tendency needs the systemized marketing strategy for woodworking workshop industry, but most of the woodworking workshops are regarding the deal with customers as simple exchange business in the market. The factors of the relationship marketing hereupon should be constituted as basic material for the study of the relationship marketing of DIY woodworking workshop. This study was intended to select the appropriate factors for relationship marketing and to apply the related theoretical backgrounds on the basis of the preceding studies regarding the factors of relationship marketing. As the factors it was selected that service and expertise of staff under the category of the characteristics of staff, reasonable price, diversity of products and convenience of facility in woodworking workshop under the category of the customer-oriented service, and communication and favorite program under that of the relation-oriented service.

VMD(Visual Merchandizing) Strategy Analysis for Revitalizing Web Fashion Star shop

  • This study aims at providing comprehensive data which would be helpful to establish a web shopping mall by analyzing the structure of web fashion star shops which have recently emerged as a result of advances in digital technology and communication. For the purpose of analyzing VMD strategy used in web fashion star shop, we adopt both of the documental and empirical research methods, based on which we examine the concept of E-commerce and current business situation of web fashion star shop industry, and then analyze the main page, product category page and product detail page in a star shop featured by a male pop star within a web shopping mall. According to our analysis of the structure of web fashion star shop, in case of open market, a banner with star's image on it leads to star shop when people click on the link of the banner, and in case of independent mall, they show each star's unique style in the main page. Product category page is linked to each product detail page which presents items of various fashion coordinates, satisfying needs of consumers to follow star's trendy fashion sense.

  • The future will see all industries become technology-driven in the competitive global market place. Firms with deep technological roots and innovation strategies have some advantages. In this situation widely used scoring approach is not enough to evaluate technology's relative competitiveness and to assign relative ranking category. Therefore, a more useful and comprehensive approach, which is called technology composite index, is needed to complement and enhance the existing scoring approach. In this research, factor analysis is applied to determine the common factors and to estimate associated weights. And technology composite index is used to measure the technology's relative strength and also to assign its ranking category instead of technology scoring.

The Types and Management of Differentiating Consumption depends on the social class of Korean consumers

  • This paper presents two social and academic studies on the boundary between cultural production and consumption. The first line of the study on cultural omnivore analyzes the choice of heterogeneous audiences in the face of various cultural offerings. The second line is a study of market categories, which analyzes the responses of peer audiences to objects with different levels of category code compliance. As such, this paper developed a heterogeneous audience model to evaluate objects of different types. This allows us to consider two dimensions of cultural preference: diversity and orientation of selection. To this end, this paper proposes a new analytical frame work to map consumption behavior on these two dimensions. The results suggest that one type of target that values diversity and transformation is particularly resistant to those that span boundaries. We test this argument in the analysis of two large data sets on film and restaurant reviews. Overall, our findings can extend beyond cultural consumption. Outline variability of contextual individuals or individuals in the same situation can cross cultural boundaries even if they are not intentionally pursuing such hybridism.

Can Brand Equity Explain Excess Behavioral Loyalty?

  • Despite the well-known predictive power of Dirichlet model on customer loyalty, deviations of share of category requirement (SCR) predicted by Dirichlet model from actual SCR have been repeatedly reported. It has been shown that these deviations can be systematically explained by some factors such as brand's market share, product positioning strategy, purchase volume and retail marketing mix strategies. Presuming that brand equity would be additional sources of these deviations, current study assesses the incremental predictive power of brand equity by using over 4,000 brand-level observations for the consumer packaged goods industry in the U.S. Our model estimations indicate that brands that exhibit higher brand equity enjoy excess loyalty, with the primary driver being volume premium, rather than price premium. Overall, our findings support the notion that idiosyncratic brand properties can explain excess behavioral loyalty, a notion that is in stark contrast with the Dirichlet view of the world: brand equity does not exist.

  • The objective of this case study is to analyze how effectively KIA K5, which is a leading mid-size car brand, has positioned itself into the mid-size car market. Before KIA launched the K5, Sonata and SM5 were the leading brands in the mid-size car market. They had loyal customers who like their similar images. As many competitors keep launching new brands or new designs into the car industry, Sonata and SM5 were pressured to introduce new versions. But, the YF Sonata and the New SM5 failed to catch up with the new trends in the market. Whilst YF Sonata was perceived as too innovative, the New SM5 was treated as an old car by the target customers of the mid-size car. While the two leading brands struggled to attract customers, KIA K5 found a new market space by identifying and focusing on the lucrative replace and up-grade demand segment and filling the gap between the current product category values and the emerging mid-size car category values. The K5 found the right values that customers need and successfully articulated the values to the customers. This case study illustrates that a successful positioning strategy can be effectively employed to attract customers in the saturated car manufacturing industry. This case can be summarized as the successful positioning strategy of KIA K5 is comprised of four primary pillars: design innovation, market analysis, STP (segmentation, targeting, and positioning), and launch strategy. The KIA K5 case study provides valuable insights and implications for many other companies that are planning to find a proper positioning strategy for their own business.

Market share of specialty hospitals in the region and out of the region (전문 질환에 대한 전문병원의 권역내·외 시장점유율 비교)

  • Purposes: The Specialty hospital designation policy had launched in 2011 and 110 designated specialty hospitals have been operating nationwide in 2022. This study was to estimate the market share of specialty hospitals for the specific diseases compared to other types of hospitals. Methodology: Data were derived from the National Health Insurance Claim data from 2018 to 2019. Subjects were all the inpatients with MDC(Major Disease Category) that specialty hospitals specialized in. A total of 34,231,387 claims were analyzed to estimate the market share. Findings: 90 specialty hospitals were responsible for 2.4 percent of inpatient care with specific diseases for specialty hospitals. There were regional variations in the market share of the specialty hospitals as the number of specialty hospitals in regions. Specialty hospitals' market shares were relatively high in burn(31.3%), ophthalmology(16.4%), obstetrics and gynecology(7.1%), alcohol(6.0%), joint(3.7%), spine(2.7%). After adjusting the number of inpatients per hospital, hospitals specialized in burn, alcohol, ophthalmology, breast, joint, obstetrics and gynecology, and hand replantation had treated more patients than tertiary hospitals. Practical Implications: Although specialty hospitals' market share was small, some types of specialty hospitals had an impact on the regional market as well as the national level market. To improve patients' accessibility to a specialty hospital, it is necessary to government supports non-specialized hospitals to change into specialty hospitals in certain fields and regions where the number of specialty hospitals is insufficient.
