A hybrid PN code phase acquisition system based on a least-mean-square adaptive filter, interpreted as a channel estimator is proposed and analyzed for direct-sequence spread-spectrum systems under frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. Closed form expressions are derived for the filter tap weights and detection/false alarm probabilities. Compared to previously proposed systems, the proposed system achieves smaller mean acquisition times, is more robust to the operating signal-to-noise ratio and allows for multiplication free tap weight updates.

Analyses of performance and behavior of the individual PEM fuel cells (PEMFC) under different operating conditions are of importance optimally to design and efficiently to operate the stack. The paper focuses on experimental analyses of a two-cell stack under different operating conditions, which performance and behavior are measured by the voltage of a cell as well as the stack. Experimental parameters include stoichiometric ratio, temperature of the air supplied under different working stack temperatures and loads. Results showed that the cell voltages are dominantly influenced by the temperature of the air supplied among others. In addition, an inherent difference between the first and the second cell voltage exists because of the tolerances of the cell components and the resulting different over-potentials at different equilibrium states. Furthermore, it is shown that the proton conductivity in the membranes conditioned by the humidity in the cathode channel highly affects the voltage differences of the two cells.

This paper investigates the impact of outdated channel state information (CSI) on the performance of the incremental amplify-and-forward (AF) opportunistic relaying (OR) over dual-hop Rayleigh fading channels. According to the definition of distribution function, we obtain the cumulative distribution function (CDF) of the actual combined signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) received at the destination. Based on this CDF, the closed-form expressions of the average spectral efficiency and outage probability are derived for the incremental AF OR under outdated CSI. Numerical results show that in the low region of the average SNR of the direct link, outdated CSI deteriorates the system performance, whereas in the high region, outdated CSI has almost no impact on the system performance.

하계 대한해협 서수도에는 연직적으로 특성이 서로 다른 세 개의 수괴가 존재한다. 그 중 표층수에 대하여 인접 해역의 해수 특성과 상호 비교함으로써 그 기원과 유로를 추정하였다. 그 결과, 표층수는 동지나해의 대륙붕 상에서 형성된 Kuroshio수와 중국대륙연안수의 혼합수로써, 중국대륙연안수의 영향을 더 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 대부분의 표층수는 Kyushu Island의 서쪽 해역, 경도 126$^{\circ}$E와 127$^{\circ}$E 사이 해역과 제주도 동쪽 해역을 거쳐 유입되고, 한국 연안 부근에 있는 일부 표층수는 제주도 서쪽해협을 거쳐 유입된 것으로 나타났다.

The resistance performances were studied for two 50-ft-class power yachts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) with different hull form characteristics using model tests. The tests were carried out at a high-speed circulating water channel (CWC) for the 16–38 knot range. The total resistance, trim, and sinkage were measured, and the results were compared with wave patterns. The results showed that a chine position at the draft line had a strong effect on the planning performance and resistance performance in a certain velocity range.

그룹 속도 분산과 비선형 효과의 상호 작용에 의해 왜곡되는 WDM 신호의 보상을 위해 전체 전송로 중간에 광 위상 공액기 (optical phase conjugator)가 적용되고 중계 구간의 단일 모드 광섬유(SMF; single mode fiber) 길이와 RDPS(residual dispersion per span) 분포가 일정한 광전송 링크에서 전체 중계 구간 수에 따른 시스템 성능을 비교 분석하였다.

In this paper, the optimal pump light power of optical phase conjugator (OPC) and the compensation characteristics of distorted WDM channel signals are numerically investigated, when the OPC with highly-nonlinear dispersion shifted fiber (HNL-DSF) not be placed at the mid-way of total transmission length. The total dispersion of former half section and latter half section is assumed to be same each other in this approach. It is confirmed that, in WDM transmission systems with OPC deviated from the mid-way, the pump light power for best compensation must be flexible selected depending on the OPC position. This optimal pump light power is gradually increased as the OPC is gradually closer to the receiver. Consequently, it is possible to establish the compensation system independent on the OPC position by setting optimal pump light power connected with the OPC position.

This study was performed on preliminary structural design of a small scale WIG craft which has been developed as a next generation high speed maritime transportation system in Korea. A composite structure design using the foam-sandwich for main wing and tail fins and the honeycomb sandwich and skin-stringer-ring frame for fuselage was applied for weight reduction as well as structural stability. A commercial FEM code, NASTRAN for was utilized to confirm the structural safety for the reiterate design modifications to meet design requirements including the target weight. Each main wing was jointed with the fuselage by eight high strength insert bolts for easy assembling and disassembling as well as for assuring the required 20 years service life. For control surface structural design, the channel type spar, the foam sandwich skin and the lug joint were adopted.

In the present trends at which vessels would be supersizedly designed for adapting special cargoes in order for effective controls of logistics in marine transportation, it brings poor manoeuvrability of ships and makes environmental or economical loss seriously due to accidents of a large scale at sea. International Maritime Organization adopted manoeuvring standards and also recommended manoeuvring booklets for ship operators recently. We attempted to find variation of hydrodynamic derivatives when a bare hull was fitted with propeller and rudder, or propeller only by captive model test in the circulating water channel. On comparing experimental results with theoretical values derived from equations, almost same tenden-cies were found at hull-propeller-rudder and hull-propeller situations. Interactions with rudder displayed well at large drift angles.

This paper presents a statistical analysis of the decision throeshold for derect-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) prallel Pseudo-Noise (PN) code acquistion with a reference filter. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived, and the mean acquistion time is evaluated as a measure of the system performance in both nonfading and Rician fiding channels. From the statistical sresults, it is shown that in the performance analysis of the parallel acquisition system with reference filtering, the statistical evaluaion of the decision threshold seems more appropriate than the approximation of the decision threshold adopted in the other schemes[2,3].
